If I was a developer knowing X change resulted in X players uninstalling, leaving etc. and them providing what it would take to bring them back is pretty useful metrics. Especially seeing what kind of support those statements get. It’s as simple as that.
Motivations and mental states are irrelevant. Guess work, immaterial. Irrelevant. If I am a developer, this is a business, I want to sell copies, and to do that the game has to be fun. If I am losing customers and they are telling other customers about their negative experience me knowing WHY is useful.
