Don’t forget this was in response to their weirdly bugged recoil/aim, IIRC this was meant to be a temp fix until they sorted out the issues, but it seems like the super temp fix is now permanent.
And yes, when the “temp fix” bolters were introduced and people still talked about the plasma, I had a good chuckle because the bolter was noticeably better overall, the only real drawback was ammo consumption.
In FS’s defense balancing is hard, and the underlying system is more complex than meets the eye (IIRC @Gideon404 called it “the work of a mad genius” after looking at the Lua) but OFC if OP/too weak weapons are simply left to fester, the game suffers.
The last balancing pass tried to tip-toe around the Steam neg review brigades but ended up probably doing more harm than good, as predicted.
Tbh, I’d love to see the hitbox buff applied to every precision weapon, since most of the smaller ones always suffer from ghost hits.
The Vigilant Autogun is still pretty mediocre overall, but the hitbox buff feels really noticeable to me which make it feel great to shoot. Can’t say the same for the Laspistol or Infantry Lasgun though.
Or, you know, Fatshark could just fix the BS hit registration…but that’s probably asking too much.
From what I understand all balance was made with Havoc in mind, so if devs actually separate Havoc from rest they could focus on regullar board balance and look on Havoc after.
A lot of these are just messed up hitboxes. Seriously I can have Dreg Ragers sit in the psych ward and have a rock fly through their head if they are in a specific point in their idle angry dad yelling. I mean melee can ghost hit and confirm without giving you the animation of recoil, so obviously there are huge netcode adjustments in our favor.

VT2 dunglicker here but isn’t it funny despite VT2 being unbalanced it feels a lot less relevant balance wise than the unbalance of DT?
That’s because the difference between OP stuff and Bad stuff is minimal, meanwhile in DT it’s huge
It’s almost like devs, instead of spamming more enemies and adding harder difficulties, they just raised up the bad weapons and nerfed the problematic ones
And waos, now the Game is playeable with almost anything even on cata twitch???

They won’t be able to W+M1 through every match with their <insert minimal effort, greasy [Rumbler/Purgatus+Uncanny/Castigators+ExterminatorSG/ReconLas+Shout/etc., etc.] build> and farm karma by giving “advice” and saying “heh, Auric? Completed it mate, easy dub, it’s so boring and easy” ad nauseam if FatShark actually think about balancing properly!!!

And don’t get started on the horror of a “Mixed” reviews label on the Steam store page post-review-bomb when the beloved, perfectly balanced DSIV alone is nerfed!
Keep in mind that this only happened after an incredibly long time. I didn’t even play anymore.
And also keep in mind that the way they did it was by applying a wildly popular community patch from the modded realm. FS couldn’t balance the game themselves. Some very dedicated players had to do it for them.
