Please fix the powercreep (RANT)

Me when I was proven right yet again:

The Infantry Lasgun’s specific to me. There’s unfortunately A LOT of Weapons that’d fit perfectly into this meme template right now, however.

Plasma gunner isn’t much of a hiccup for las pistols or recon las (thanks to high crit flak damage and auto fire respectively) but he is definitely bad news for the Kantrael las. That thing basically does nothing outside of weakspot hits even with crits unless it’s the slow version hitting maniac specifically.

Speaking of the Recon Lasgun… warning, there’s a potential hot take incoming.

The Bug that reduces Magazine Capacity for certain Weapons? I actually think that it’s a good thing for the Mark XII Recon Lasgun SPECIFICALLY. It went from 180 to 150 Magazine Capacity, which brings in back into line more with the other Recon Lasgun Marks. The Mark XII still feels great to use in my opinion, maybe its prior Magazine Capacity was excessive?

I’ve switched my infantry lasgun build over to exe stance, MMF and to the fast blue ILG. It bounces off carapace ofc but the talents now line up better with the needs of the weapon.

Did they get ride of the armour shredding stuff in the veteran tree?

Onslaught still exists
Exploit Weakness was changed from 10% x2 Brittleness on Melee Crit to 20% Damage on melee crit.

You had to necro a 9 day old post to ask a question about the veteran even tho there are countless more recent posts about the veteran?
Well done.

It’s not necroing a Topic just because you don’t like that particular Topic. These Topics are open until the most recent Reply reaches two weeks old. Two weeks have fourteen days, not nine.

They’ve gone from insulting to encouraging the new posts in about a month, measurable improvement.
If the thread stays alive long enough, they might just necro it themselves.

Pretty much.

It’s amazing how people use stupid silly little terms today, thinking I care about their opinion on such things.

Necroing? Call it whatever the hell they want, the reason I posted the question in this tread, is because of my opinions on power creep, as you well know.

And it still does exists.

So for all the effort they have put into the new tree’s they still haven’t addressed the issues that are being raised by the player base.

Maybe Im trippin hard here , but items and balance should be separate for Havoc and regular missions.

perhaps it should, but then it requires at least twice the balancing work and we know how good it is even with a single scale.

Ultimately, the gameplay between Uprising–Auric missions and Havoc differs so greatly that it makes any discussion about balance inherently difficult. Adjusting the balance around one side inevitably causes the other to fall apart, which is the fundamental issue.

Actually I’ve been wondering about how people feel about these talents these days. My feelings are that both rending strikes and onslaught are pretty innocuous in their current forms. 10% is too low a value to be more than a nice bonus. Onslaught condition means that while it does allow some guns to shoot crushers that otherwise can’t, it’s almost never going to be particularly ammo efficient to do so. It’s also brittle which does benefit the team, but is functionally single target in effect which limits its impact enormously. Certainly not something that concerns me as problematic crusher killing power in a world with current kraks cheap and available.

I still think uncanny mostly breaks the game through absolute silly values assigned to it. That and it being by far the most abuseable form of rending for applying it to dots and other damage sources. Set Uncanny at a max stack value of like 40% and make it only apply to direct melee damage and it’d probably still be meta, but I doubt it would be problematic anymore.

Anything that spreads armour, is an issue.

Except stuff that is design specifically for armour pen.

Krak grenades, etc etc etc.

Armour on enemies is pointless right now, it’s a joke of a mechanic.

This is correct.
I do still believe that the best way forward is to ballance the game around one of the current difficulties and let the rest fall appart.
I’d say ballance the game around damnation and let havoc be the messy shithole only mad people delve into.

I often wonder if the game would be better with a different difficulty scaling method.

As it stands lower difficulties are less intense with weaker enemies, so gear makes a big impact. T3 in particular is crawling with players on max level gear who make sub-30 players redundant.

However the game lacks a certain intensity until T4/5. Why not have either hp/damage scaling OR intensity scaling? Or perhaps shrink the discrepancy between weapon damage and enemy hp scaling.

Something to make it so once you have graduated a difficulty you can still return to a lower one if you are seeking a different experience (rather than just a cake walk).

Agreed, Rending should not apply to DoTs, only direct melee strikes, also 40% Max seems like a reasonable cap for a debuff that stacks so fast.

Also, Rending Strikes should be something lime this:

20% Rending for 2s on Hit (Same Enemy). Stacks 2 times.

rending is straight up insane game design

”yeah you see this weapon/grenade/dot is balanced out by not having good armor damage”

“by the way your class gets a talent or blessing lets it ignore armor so the drawback actually just disappears lol”

“how come people arent using these slow weapons that specialize in killing 1 crusher at a time??? why do they use the unlimited aoe application dots with uncanny instead??? should we spawn more crushers???”

Fatshark has a knack for destroying the weapon power balance, the so-called trade-off relationships, that they themselves established.
The Bolter is a prime example. It used to be a powerful but unwieldy weapon, which was a fair trade-off. But at some point, they drastically reduced its recoil and made aiming much easier, enlarged the hitboxes so shots would connect even when slightly off target, increased its damage against armored enemies, and even shortened its weapon swap time.
As expected, everyone started using the Bolter, and the overall balance completely fell apart.
