Here are my initial impressions after playing a few matches (Auric HISTG) as Veteran and Zealot.
Despite the significant increase in elite health, especially Crushers, I don’t feel like their threat level has actually gone up. Supposedly their spawn rate was lowered, but groups of 4–6 Crushers still appear fairly often.
In PUGs, I matched with about seven Veterans, and not a single one was using Executioner or Stealth, every single one of them was running VoC, making the usage rate 100%. Whenever a horde of Maulers, Ragers, or Crushers appeared, VoC would get popped, staggering everything, and then the new Power Falchion would slice them all down. Matches felt almost formulaic because of this. If there are two or more Veterans in the party, the toughness bar stays basically yellow throughout the run. I still think VoC is way too strong. In particular, a 30-second base cooldown is far too short, it should be at least 40–45 seconds.
As for DS, while its damage has dropped, thanks to attack speed and Uncanny Strike, it doesn’t feel much different from before.
I also tried the Chain Axe and Eviscerator, but their usability hasn’t changed at all. With the current enemy spawn rate and pacing, they just feel very clunky and difficult to use.
It’s still only day one, so I can’t give a definitive verdict yet, but while the range of builds and weapons may have improved a little, I don’t think casual players or PUGs will actually change the weapons or builds they use. It feels like options have technically increased, but the actual power creep on the player side hasn’t really changed from before.
What do you all think?
What’s your impression of the Auric “upgrades”/difficulty changes? Notice it at all?

In today’s matches, Gold Toughness was spread around so much in every run that it’s hard to make any clear judgment, but out of five matches, we only failed one, and that was with just three players. As a side note, no one joined that match all the way to the final area, so it seems the bug preventing players from joining timed-out runs is still around.
As for the four successful runs, although a few people went down a couple of times, there was never a truly dangerous situation. And even then, almost every down was caused by either dogs or trappers.
no captain spawns or noticeable timed hordes?
Come to think of it, I never saw a Captain spawn at all. Has anyone actually had one show up?
Also, I was thinking, further buffing armored enemies (Elite) will only push players away even more from weapons that already struggle against armor, like the Heavy Sword, Devil’s Claw, Infantry Lasgun, and Autogun.
Didn’t see it anywhere in the patch notes, so I’m thinking it was another bit of misinfo from the content rollout method of creators’ shitty videos before official text:
I had three on one match (not at the same time) and they all had a posse of plasma gunners

Just saw the details of the new event. Think maybe that’s what you encountered and the captain spawns aren’t part of the baseline auric spawns?
I have no idea I just quickplayed some matches and it only happened in one of them.
