TLDR mortis is boring because it’s too easy because everything can effortlessly clear it. So to make havoc better we need to buff most weapons up to havoc meta levels because havoc is hard even with the game’s meta gear look at me get overwhelmed by the game elite spamming with healers on havoc 33.
Personally I fundamentally disagree with this on every level. I don’t like how havoc is balanced and designed around spamming what is supposed to be the best the game can throw at you in order to have any chance in hell of being a challenge for players in order to have any chance in countering the sheer levels of player power we can reach with some utterly ridiculous outliers. His ‘solution’ is just exasperating the reasons why havoc is designed poorly in the first place and just contributes to the nuclear arms race this game’s ‘balance’ has become. Also oh mortis is boring because is too easy let’s make the even more of the game that to account for high level havoc play
Balancing around Havoc is genuinely killing this game for me. I’m tired of Havoc, I want to play the normal mission boards because they have more maps, more modifiers, the balance is more suitable for random matchmaking which I generally enjoy more. But everything is getting buffed to the high heavens to become Havoc viable so the regular mission board is too easy. So in that sense yeah fully agree with your post.
They need to drop whichever elements are pushing them to focus on Havoc this hard. It was fun as a one-off, a challenge gamemode. It achieves this. It doesn’t need to be the balance focus, it hurts the game
Stupid.
If he has not the “skills” to play havoc, then he should just not play it.
I say it, and I don’t play it… and tbh, I don’t care if I have the skills or not. I just don’t want to deal with this horrible difficulty.
This is not for me obviously, as I don’t search something close to impossible… but buffing everything to the level of DS is purely stupid and defeat totally the purpose of Havoc. And also it ruins the game for the major part of the players (all that don’t play havoc). And for what?
To come back to the point where several players will say that it is too easy.
This is not buffs that are needed but nerfs for several too strong weapons and for sure DS, PG, and the boltgun. I would add 5 others… but I guess it would be discussed a little too much.
If they do that, this game is no more for me…
But I guess also (if they do it) that it will become the game of just the tiny part that plays havoc. At least as regular players. So a game killer.
I also hope they reverse course, but playtesters have said the current post-buff Ogryn powerlevel is what they’re aiming for to become the powerlevel of every class. So the writing is on the wall. Post-buff Ogryn is obscenely OP to the point of trivializing the game on the highest difficulty setting outside of a meme gamemode, and it’s stated to be their balance goal.
I don’t generally like to poopoo content creators, because ultimately I think they’re filling a need around the game and are a net positive…but he explicitly states that he wants his viewpoint to get enough traction to get noticed by FS, and I think that’s misguided.
We don’t have the stats of course, but it sure feels like we really don’t need more power creep.
I agree that auto guns and shotguns need something and there are still perks that are lol what purpose do you serve in this game (lol long shot)
But I think the first priority should be reigning in the ridiculous power creep that has actually done tangible damage to the game
Get an actual base line of power scaling first before things get buffed otherwise those buffs will just be scaled to the absolute peaks to be worthwhile
Vermintide 1 was balanced around regular difficulties and people modded it to have stupid levels of difficulty (Stormvermin Mutation my beloved). The people were happy. Vermintide 2 was balanced around regular difficulties and people started playing Cata 3, Deathwish, and every variant of Onslaught imaginable. The people were happy. Darktide…?
It was in fact the joke. Feels like the game has just been gearing up for Havoc and when Havoc dropped it was just immediately defeated by the OP stuff (spam gold toughness and DS)
Everything being viable here bad
Everything being viable here good
Uhhhh Mr E you started off with the literal reason why your argument is fundamentally flawed with an example of things being unfun when everything is overpowered and too easy.
You disagree that mortis is easy? Have you played it? Even if there would be auric difficulty, with every wave like twelfth one, it would be still easy, but way more fun, now it’s only fun first couple of time, 1st tune playing with infinite bolter, biggest box of boom, but then it’s really boring.
And around what should balance be then? Sedition difficulty?
That aside, many weapons today are bad even for auric damnation and not every class is like zealot and can compensate lack of it’s power with his own talents.
There are a variety of Difficulties between Sedition and Havoc, you know. Regular Damnation would be a significantly better starting point for Balancing compared to Havoc.
