I’ve been working my way to Havoc Rank 25 for that sweet cosmetic you unlock and honestly, it’s kind of miserable.
Two modifiers in particular are the culprit;
Pus-hardened skin means you can’t rely on most ranged options and even weapons that usually do well in Auric, just fail at dealing with anything. This gets particularly bad when most enemies tend to be pus-hardened and the next modifier is available…
Emperor’s Fading Light which makes ranged enemies absolute atrocious. No warning to when they shoot and when they do, they just unload. I’ve been downed so many times because some random ranged enemy popped up behind me and unloaded.
These two modifiers, when together, makes everything so bad.
Felt like I needed to get it out of my system.
Havoc is the worst Fatshark have added in quite some time. When I unlock the three cosmetic parts, I ain’t touching this mode ever again.
Well, I am glad that you enjoy it.
That said, it can’t be many outside the very top percentile of players that truly enjoy the difficulty Havoc offers.
Havoc is exactly what fatshark needed to release for old players to come back to the game. I dont even play maelstroms anymore because there to easy. If you adapt to what the game throws at you its not so bad.
it’s different enough from maelstrom to require certain builds. not that it’s impossible outside the meta, but that’s what gives the best odds of success and most hosts insist on.
i’m not a fan of gunner spam, but i can see its appeal.
unfortunately creature spawner doesn’t support it afaik, so it can’t be practiced outside of missions.
it seems to be created with premades in mind. if you have one, then you’re good (as with many penances), if not, then being required to wait in the party finder to even get into a game will amplify any frustration you have with the game.
edit: at least, players seem to work together better in havoc. less stealth zealots running off etc (also because there are less stealth zealots in that mode)
It was added to solo mod, this is actually the only way I’ve tried it lmao. I don’t want to ruin my true level UI for all of time having some garbage Havoc tiny number and not my nearing quad digit overall level (like 920~ atm with Vet/Zeal/Psyker).
So far my biggest problem in Havoc is that waiting around in the party finder is atrocious. I almost exclusively play this game with randoms, so unless I’m in the mood to solo, I’m going to have to wait.
I think the Auric board should have removed Heresy maps and had difficulty 6 along with Damnation. This board would have two central maps, one being a standard Damnation Auric Maelstrom with perhaps Emperor’s Fading Light I always added, and the new difficulty 6 version of Auric Maelstrom essentially being the equivalent of a Havoc 40. On the standard board, the Maelstrom mission could remove difficulty Malice, and have Heresy, Damnation, and the old version of Auric Maelstrom as the possible options instead.
Havoc’s 3 new modifiers do not justify having 40 tiers in a separate game mode.
if that 40 stayed. but judging by the demotion thread, it gets lower when you stop playing havoc. and most people seem to just want the title and then not play it again.
To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, — that is genius.
You misunderstand the point of these forums. They’re not here to share ideas. They are certainly not to be used in any attempt to further anyone’s understanding. No! They are a red-in-tooth-and-claw arena of opinion vs opinion, feeling vs feeling, until a singular sociopath is left to roar in triumph over the still-warm post of their final foe. That ultimate warrior will then definitively proclaim which combat axe mark is undertuned, and which modifiers are objectively bad game design.
After that, there will only be the gentle patter of tech-support posts, steadily becoming less frequent as the stars fly farther apart, protons decay to unfettered chaos, and time wearily winds down to the final triumph of darkness.
I can totally understand where you’re coming from with this post. There’s a lot of sht they STILL need to fix with Havoc, no doubt. Personally, I had a great time because it was with people I know IRL from my job. That’s why the experience was very fun & entertaining for sure. If you play in pubs I think the experience would be less, I suppose depending on who you get. As for the modifiers… I thought it was okay, although very artificial. I actually did like the corruption goop on the ground it was kinda cool actually. This mode is really just for those try-hard dedicated players. I’m willing to bet all my aquilas that only a very small percentage are Havoc-worthy to actually complete it in its entirety or even from 25+ if that. I think the challenge itself from 35-40 is actually harder than a tough Maelstorm for sure no doubt about that. Being a Meta-slave will make it slightly easier. All-in-all, as I said in the other post, I’d rate it a solid 7/10 personally. Only because of all the issues people endured. I can fully get why people would dislike it though & that’s totally fine. Fatshark really needs maybe some other game-mode where everybody can compete & not just the try-hards.
Does it really? I do a 40 once a week then stop playing Havoc for a week & I’m still at 40 when I get my reward. I just repeat the cycle. Does it have to be longer than a week or something?
haven’t noticed it myself, but i haven’t been playing havoc over the holidays, due to lack of time on one hand and really bad players on the other (pretty much everyone jumping into maelstrom and havoc right after passing 30)
