Havoc mode

Everything about the new havoc mode sounds like fatshark deliberately not listening to people.

No map/modifier selection so if you get a mission on a map with broken spawns and a boring mutator or modifier you either play the boring mission or get off the game for the week

1 week long rotation on a mission if you don’t want to play it

Ranks that decay if you don’t play for a while or if you lose, which promotes toxicity

No public test before release

Low barrier to entry which, when combined with broken balance, means I expect to start up a havoc mission and have all 3 other players running crutch builds to compensate for the fact they were carried there

Interesting mutators like moebian 21st locked behind havoc for some reason

Anti fun modifiers that should never appear in auric let alone havoc like lights out and vent purge, who knows maybe they’ll include extra poxbursters and mutants too

2 mutators max with no way for players to stack them or choose which ones they want

It really seems like fatshark want this to fail, the only way it will see any success is if the modifiers are almost all fun, which I doubt.

Why not let people pick the mutators and maps they want? You’re already randomising the map for every player instead of having a premade list of them to choose from that’s the same for every player. I don’t know how hard these mutators are going to be but it’s very possibly they won’t be enough for a lot of people without stacking more than two mutators at once.

Have the havoc rank increase depending on how many/which modifiers the player selects if you need to have the rank in the first place

you can’t make everyone happy, and given this forum on an average day i’d say trying to make more then three people happy at any one time is begging for a flamewar if you’re fatshark.

I am not super thrilled about it, either. They need to do major balancing changes before they add more difficult modes, otherwise we will only be further pigeon holed into shout spam and other cheese spam.

Yes I agree they need to BUFF everything before adding even more difficulty.

i think they meant more nerfs than buffs
but certain weapons that aren’t really used should get some buff too yeah

I don’t like that I have read…
Especially cause they did not even address the ALT+F4 exploit.

This will promote exactly the contrary of what the community wants.
This is a new difficulty where you will be able to blatantly cheat (I don’t talk about mods but the ALT+F4) and with rewards… So it will attract everybody and will push players that cannot play maelstrom to try to jump to this mode.

At the end of the day, this a feature for players that don’t play with random. So a tiny part of this community.

Why do I think that? Cause of this:

im betting on this mode dying in like 1-2 weeks honestly

on another note, does the Party Finder feature even work currently

I will wait and see before I pass an informed judgement, but atm it feels like most of our feedback about player control over what we play with what difficulty modifiers has been disregarded.

Same as the past RNG crafting, the lack of control on the mission selection screen reinforces, surely an unintentional impression, that Darktide is a game which doesn’t want to be played by veteran players.

Just play normal missions, nothing requiring players to play Havoc. “Toxicity” is subjective, some players want to be challenged, that’s completely fine.

Map/modifier selection would defeat the purpose of the ranking system. Sure, most of the community would probably agree that we need private matches with fully customizable modifier selection, but that wouldn’t work for these types of missions.

Imagine being the guy who makes a mistake in a game and gets blamed by the guy who’s been trying to get level 40 for several days and just deranked

Just have the points towards the next rank be decided by the modifiers the player chooses, the more/more difficult modifiers are picked, the more points for winning

As for map selection, the main reason for one map being more difficult than the other is it having functional spawns, and those are usually the maps that high level players (who are clearly the ones that fatshark is trying to please with this update) will end up picking anyway

they use it to get groups together when they livestream on twitch.

it’s working, even though it seems broken because no one uses it. wasted dev time to solve a problem they themselves created.

Not a bad idea for future changes.

Players have three chances before losing a rank. 1 time, sure blame the guy who may have not been ready. There may be some of that, yes it could be a bit toxic - sometimes things just go sideways. But fail the other two chances? Time to look at the common denominator.

You say that like toxic players are logical

They’re not.

I have reported one guy that started to insult a player, and with racist words and worse cause… the guy had taken one ammo pack while he was at low ammo

Lowkey I feel like theyre saying, “don’t expect a Chaos Wastes after this.”

seriously, i don’t get why they’re doing this. it’s like for everything they give the player agency over, they need to take that back somewhere else. finally free crafting? make the player drag himself through a series of maps and mutators he doesn’t like to play. and with that progression / demotion system, conflict with other players and another alt-f4 pandemic are a given.
