Havoc mode is a failure. That does not mean it isn’t recyclable though. Please Fatshark just make a difficulty 6 and add the actually fun havoc modifiers into the auric modifier pool. The current state of havoc just divides the playerbase matchmaking further and turns away more players than the core gameplay loop retains. Basically no one wants to play a super challenging mode where if you lose you can’t retry the super challenging mode. The matchmaking and ranked system for havoc incentivizes people to only play in the most optimized parties with the most optimized loadouts.
Please Fatshark just return Darktide to being a fun game that doesn’t actively push people away from playing it. You are actively bleeding player retention for no reason when you could instead be easily improving it.
“Toxic meta enforcing modifiers” but also add it to normal/auric mod pool please.
“No one is playing super challenging mode” but also is the reason why people are quitting the game.
This doesnt even make sense. Sure the additional challenge is forcing optimized loadouts. But it isnt forcing premades to the extent as some may think. Nor is matchmaking/rank system the reason to play a certain way, matchmaking is jus straight up ass that doesnt really affect anything besides qol and ranks are just a bonus. People are gonna play however they want (or not play in this case) regardless of what the game puts out, except when ego gets the better of the player. It’s important to remember that being hurt about other people’s behaviours is a hurt ego.
i like the new modifiers but i really cant get behind partyfinder and ranking systems.
also meta builds just reduce the skill required for a given threat level.
just like i can bring whatever build in auric and itll more or less work somone better can do the same in maelstrom or havoc 40
I did say to add the “actually fun ones”. There are fun and wacky mods in havoc, but the ones that just debuff the players for example are anti-fun.
Getting de-ranked turns people away from playing more matches. Havoc mode turns most players away en mass due to the ranked grind. People are stuck choosing between auric missions that haven’t gotten any real update and balance support or the awful havoc grind if they want new and/or harder content. This is “how to bleed player retention 101”.
Correct. What it’s actually doing is forcing players away entirely.
If you want difficulty 6, it should be done the same way as Cataclysm in VT2 - no additional rewards, cosmetics and such. Just the challenge, so those that seek it don’t have to bear the casuals joining just to be carried cause that’s the fastest way for them to grind.
If it was to be scaled the same way current difficulties were - I’d prefer Havoc, at least the dedicated playerbase here doesn’t intermix with normal modes.
That’s not matchmaking/rank’s fault. Thats game design’s fault, hence the Ogryn Overhaul.
Ye big sadge on some design aspects, but if you rly think about it, they just went even more hardcore on havoc changes. Idk bout yall but i feel like theyre priming us for something.
Then why don’t I get kicked from auric maelstroms on Ogryn? For the record I mostly don’t even get invited to sub-20 Havocs, which are easier than auric maelstroms. Around heresy. I have to swap to a human class then swap back to Ogryn after getting invited if I wanna play Ogryn even on H19. And yes, that’s with true survivor/poxbreaker showing.
The difference is that there’s no derank mechanic and no matchmaking concept that is whitelist based. That’s really it. If Havoc wasn’t whitelist based that alone would probably change the dynamic. That IS a matchmaking issue.
the only thing they went hardcore on is braindamaged nonsensical decisions, but you’re probably correct and I am certainly primed for the mortis trial details now. My expectations have successfully been lowered so much I barely even care anymore
