Not even referring to just the teammates in maelstroms. Tried multiple times to do some high intensity shock gauntlet matches and the teammate quality decline is insane.
Not only did I give no craps about Havoc but it might have just made me not care about Darktide at all for a while. Let me know when they actually address some balance issues and realize havoc is a waste of effort.
Yes this is mostly venting.
EDIT: Since people seem to think this is newer players due to the Playstation release⌠Itâs not.
Iâm day 1 veteran of DT, 2k hours, Twins HM insigniga, every single Maelstorm and auric achievements unlocked, all classes played with all kinds of builds, not just meta stuff. I quickplay auric solo and win the majority of my games.
Iâve been searching for Havoc 20+ lobby for 30 minutes, finally found one. And then someone told me, âUhm, ackshually, can you find other lobby, your Havoc level is too low for us, sorryâ. I just silently left and closed the game.
Literally like 90% of the time you get players that donât belong in those higher difficulties. If I see a level 100 & below, Iâm automatically skeptical full-stop. Itâs gotten to that point. If their weapons are not upgraded properly or even if they look noobish or if their builds look whack, I leave asap. Sometimes itâs just a gut feeling inside as well. I donât have the time to keep on carrying games. They need to learn how to play & practice before entering. I was in a match with a guy who kept on going down like every 5-10 mins or so⌠We still won, but in another game the same thing happened too with the same guy shockingly. Itâs like these people donât even learn⌠In my mind Iâm like, âHey, buddy⌠This might not be for youâŚâ Iâm not trying to be toxic or mean itâs just super tiring is all.
Most likely PS5 players reaching 30 and hitting their aurics. If you have the true level mod, you can tell that most of them are in their early 30-40s.
But hey at least console players can opt out. Unlike Steam.
A lot of people really donât seem to like havoc, but I did a couple havoc missions today and had a lot of fun. Did a 17 first which wasnât too interesting but then did a 22 which was very spicy, and felt pretty different from auric maelstroms (b/c of the multiple captain bosses spawning, and the new conditions). Party finder even worked well â stayed with the same group for the two games, which never happens with normal quick play for me.
They really really need to change the whole âonly the host progresses until next weekâ thing tho, the way it is now is super confusing and weird.
I have zero interest in engaging with a system that has no respect for my effort put in with the entire rank decay system, especially since I tend to play this game off and on.
NA, itâs always been back and forth but the matches since Havoc released have been absolutely atrocious. Not sure if itâs people who just donât want to be team players (and are avoiding havoc for that reason) or what.
This was added in update. But then it wonât make much difference as theyâll just queue for another match make to another group. This only stops the Auric survivor badge chasers in Maelstrom.
Which is a pity I saw a brand new player (Truelevel mod tells me) using downed, alt+F4, reconnect mod as it was in 15 secs he was back consistently. It denies him experience of learning by spectating how others play.
Come Xmas time tend to be alot more new players and more new players especially with PS5 release.
Sorry to hear that. I know you probably wonât cause your mind seems made up, but I encourage you to try out Havoc Mode. Itâs actually a lot of fun so far.
I genuinely have no interest in a mode that does things like remove toughness gating (One of the only things that helps keep the game from feeling terrible with the shooters, relying on removing an anti frustration mechanic to achieve âdifficultyâ is⌠oof), heavily encourages hard meta loadouts/abusing gold toughness, requires you to devote time trying to dig up a group, all of the mess around the delayed progression, and the knock off mythic key system in general. Plus rank decay is just gross.
Kinda beyond the scope of what I was annoyed about, but I also genuinely hate that havoc is what they dedicated dev time to rather than pretty much anything else like more modifiers (that are actually in everything), a Chaos Wastes equivalent (rather than weaves), etc.
All while the balancing is all over the place still, the ogryn skill trees changes still baffle me. Meanwhile everything around dueling sword.
Toughness gating removal is one of the things I genuinely like about Havoc fwiw â it actually keeps me on my toes and makes the matches feel dangerous. I rarely die any more in regular aurics, in large part due to how forgiving the toughness mechanic normally is â in havoc missions, if you lose focus for a split second, you can get walloped just like that.
Yeah, I noticed this as well, though I will posit itâs likely also down to people leveling/playing with the new weapons in Auric.
I noticed like 95% of my games consisted of Ogryns with the new DMR, a MASSIVE amount of Zealots running around with the Relic Sword (which is really cool flavor/fun to use I get it, but incredibly bad compared to every single other Zealot weapon that can even be considered good, thusly required a lot more carrying even with experienced players running around) and a plethora of Psykers running around with the wave sword (which seems good, but also makes one of the most dodge heavy classes have a super small dodgeâŚwhich is a good bit more to get used to than most are capable of).
That combined with a good amount of them using said weapons with them not being upgraded at all/being consecrated but not empowered with random perks and blessings meant that people where both learning the new weapons AND having them be none functional, meaning no real amount of skill would matter when it took you 6 hits to kill a higher level enemy.
I know Tuesday was just terrible. Yesterday was ok, weâll see how today and onward shapes out. I also noticed of course that I saw 2 vets across all my many games, because obviously they didnât get anything so all those players are either just not playing or play havoc (because they are like, required over there). So that lowers the overall play quality too (as even just 1 shout vet spamming their CA key can turn a bad game into a functional game). Zealot might be the arguably best class but 4 benediction auraâs with half upgraded swords that barely function VERY much does not a winning team make xD.
to be honest, right now motivation isnt exactly high given the way one has to pick a match.
starting a lobby gets me level 30-80s seeking for a handout havoc 20+, if i apply with a 1300 ogryn class i get rejected cause âmoah domesâ
sure if i had a 24/7 premade crew (like real buddies, trashtalk and thick skin, not discord aquaintaces)
havoc would be fun.
then again if i cleared a certain stage, why bother doing lower ones anyways?
if lobbies werent such a hussle sure, but the combo of âthisâ overlay and people already bitching failing a mission to get âdemotedâ makes randoms more of a pain than it already is.
