I don’t know what can be done about it, but something does need to be addressed now that Havoc exists and is wreaking… ahem… havoc for Auric Maelstrom, as well as matchmaking in general. It seems people do not care about the recent adjustments to bailing via alt+f4 and continue the practice to the detriment of team cohesion and the quality of matches overall has rapidly declined.
We need adjustments to quickplay and normal matchmaking (as far as I can tell, they’re not really different at all since even selecting a map doesn’t guarantee a new session, it only guarantees that you match with groups within that mission) so that people cannot join in on a FAIL SCREEN.
It’s not the first time this has happened; quickplaying into a failed state is the single largest motivational killer for continuing to play the game. If my first match ends up being either a connection error or joining into the literal loss screen, my desire to engage with the game is instantly sapped.
I have no control over these scenarios, and while I used to chalk it up as “hey free resources,” the extra time it takes for loading BACK ONTO THE MOURNINGSTAR, to then trundle back to the console and re-launch another mission just kills the desire to play, especially with the non-zero possibility of being plopped into a similar scenario (moreso now than ever with the quality of players decreasing significantly with the game encouraging people who probably shouldn’t be engaging with Aurics in the first place to go play those modes to access Havoc)…
Yeah, yeah mods can circumvent that Mourningstar nonsense to some degree, just fix the dang game instead of making it annoying to engage with and leaning on modders to fix the gaping quality of life flaws.
