In two years of darktide, havoc actually forced me to learn the game better while also giving me the chance to meet a lot of great players who were awesome to play with. The grind to 40 was great. Please keep adding modifiers and polishing this game mode.
Ignore people who say it’s toxic. What is toxic is the forums. I’ve only met players who genuinely wanted to succeed as a team in havoc. Unlike maelstroms, which is now a free for all where people come and go like a convenience store.
Havoc didn’t create the jump-in-run-wild-quit-at-the-first-sign-of-trouble attitude that is pretty common in AM. People have been complaining about that issue since even before the ASS penance, although many attribute it to that.
The reason why there are so many horrible players in maelstrom and in psrticular smite psykers is because horrible players want access to havoc mode and that being a requisite is exactly why auric maelstrom is infested with horrible players. Penances specifically are why hi shock auric missions are infested with horrible players because they know every 5 missions they get more penance points otherwise there would be no reason for someone who has zero experience outside of going down 7X in a regular damnation to need dragged through an auric hi shock mission in the first place. Maelstrom is bad to the point where there are fresh level 30 psykers with blue gear, a shield, and smite trying to smite their way to victory and into havoc just to suck there as well. I literally joined a maelstrom the other day at 3AM, saw a fresh smite psyker, told my fiance I told you so, laughed, and immediately left because I knew this was going to happen. Unfortunately horrible players have infested every difficulty including havoc and you can thank penances and fatshark for that because they are to blame.
Aurics I’m general have absolutely plummeted in quality. Both maelstrom and regular. Splitting the higher playerbase even further while encouraging lower players to try and push up is absolutely caused by Havoc.
It’s to the point I just don’t even want to play anymore. Every time I try I just end up… Tired.
people try to squeeze through the narrow part when they arent even capable of the wide start.
the bottom result still remains
today i was warming up in HISTG and boy, these 3 stooges were uncarryable, seemingly sabotaging the match with intend.
i pinged every ressource, every secure path killed more stuff than the 3 together and they still forced themselves against the opposite direction, dying one by one.
picking them up, dusting em off they learned not a thing and like lemmings threw themselves again into the abyss…
i mean by sheer embarassment… scrap that, they know no shame
The players who steamroll through Auric Mael went to Havoc.
Ever read about people feeling like Damnation being much easier than Heresy?
Same phenomenon. People enter a new difficulty, get carried by their mechanically better teammates, and cant go back anymore. Now Meal is Heresy. All the experienced players ventured onwards and left the rest behind. New people join the frey and mayhem ensues.
If you just want to win, there is no shame in dropping down to a difficulty you can hard carry. Thats what the multiple difficulties are for. The AM situation will not change that soon.
Havoc is a fantastic experience for everyone tired of Mael modifier RNG. Not having to wait hours for a boring modifier to reset, and just being able to play whenever you want not having to fear being stuck with I-E for a whole evening is exhilarating.
You do not even need a mod and/or full party. I still wish Matchmaking would be an option, since the Party Finder will be a Lego I have to step on every time I play Havoc, but that pain is manageable.
I can carry just fine. I’m fully aware of what’s going on. That doesn’t make it not incredibly tedious to deal with when it’s been every single round I’ve tried to play recently.
It’s really weird how you’re turning it into a passive insult by the end.
That said, the issue is how it’s splitting the player base even further at the higher end becausenot everybody who can do auric easily is doing havocs. I have no interest in that poorly balanced… [Insert impolite term of choice] that asks me to waste time just starting a run.
Edit: Stuff like teammates who jump into finales and instantly die while I just had to save two of them from full death. While there was a full medicae:
This just gets old. And it’s almost every round I’ve played. I was so mentally done by that point. I saw the objective change and just went “Surely nobody is that dumb, right?”
