Suggestion:
Raise cap of players you can block from 50, to 150.
Why is this a problem:
Your audience though sometimes wonderful - can also range from garden variety misogynist to outright unhinged. You*'ve (The staff*) seen it yourselves on steam, reddit, discord, and here in the forums.
People want to play in peace, it makes them want to play more. 50 is an awfully low number for someone who could have over 1k hours casually.
Why this shouldn’t be a problem:
Unless the backend is coded in LUA there shouldn’t be a problem, if so… dang. uh. well this is awkward. See my suggestion below.
What you gain from this:
The “If you don’t like it, block them” allows people to go on being themselves with their full chest, and everyone else can opt out if desired
Suggestion:
I know many people wouldn’t but I would buy an item to allow me to raise my cap by 50 per item. I would pay $15usd for that, and buy multiple.

No I haven’t. I block griefers and that’s it. In about 500h I encountered only 1 (one) toxic player talking sht.
But with that said yes, the cap should be higher
As a male I don’t get those kind of remarks but even then there’s always people who suffer from main character syndrome (“GET THE DOG OF ME! GET THE DOG OF ME!”) or think they need to be the guild leader. And some low IQ mouth-breathers think it’s comedy gold to burp into the mic.
I muted all voice chat a long time ago. Don’t use it. Don’t need it. Don’t want it.
That said. There’s no reason why the block limit is only 50. It’s not much indeed.
Yeah, not even a girl and I’ve hit the limit 3 times and counting.
Granted, I’m also a autistic butt munch sometimes and get heavily annoyed when players don’t hold interact on my wiggling body in a net or can’t seem to spare a shot over at me under a dog despite standing directly over me in both cases (about the only reason Arbite has been a breath of fresh air for me despite how OP they are, since it voids half of that issue and more often than not solves the other half too), and if such results in a lose (especially toward the end of a mission) I’ll get salty and block as I ‘don’t want to see them until they are an actual player please’. But as stated, that’s thankfully not happened to much recently/I been checking myself somewhat better, but even then I’ve heard a few ‘interesting characters’ over mic a time or two beyond that, and a good number of trolls here and there.
Unfortunately the best ‘solution’ I’ve found at this point is block them, wait for the list to max out, then unblock everybody and rinse repeat. It turns out, these types of people tend to get bored/aren’t actually very good and leave, and lo and behold they go and troll/be terrible people back on games that encourage it (CoD and stuff), verses games where they tend to get hard muted/ignored such as Darktide. They also added the report feature recently!..no idea if it does anything, but if one reports and then blocks, it’s possible by the time one unblocks them, they’ve been banned or otherwise shoved into a matchmaking que away from everyone else, and now you won’t have to bother with them on the list anymore.
Doing this has yielded mostly functional results, for me at least. Though unsure if I’m adding like the same 10 people over and over, but either way I’ve directly experienced less and less issues as I’ve been doing it this way. Hope if nothing else it helps!
Just as an afterthought, a comment function to note why we blocked a certain player would be nice, so we could better decide whose to unblock when needed.
never use voice chat, heck i cant even stand the voices of strangers
so by having everyone mute by default i gotta say there’s still room on my block list.
sure the odd 4sshole that mouthes off after failing to find his own ass in the dark with a flashlight is there in an illustrous group
but i gotta say since auric maelstrom gotten carry-able even when not caffeinated to the gills, i dont even care what i drag along in that backpack behind me
Can we please make sure this gets attention. Something needs to be done about the harassment some users experience when playing. Especially with the influx of new players.
If people want to block for whatever reason – let them. If they block too many players – it’s their problem, if they are blocked by too many players, well, that’s their problem too.
yeah it’s quite clear that no one should be forced to play with people they don’t like.
however, just my 2 cents on this: many need to learn the art of ignoring people.
for example, in-game voice chat is off since i don’t feel like talking to strangers and maybe 1 out of 10 says anything useful.
what crimes do make you block players usually?
i play since the beta and have full 2 people blocked because they were obnoxious, insulting trolls.
i had blocked a few others so i won’t run into them soon again simple because they were clueless, but unblocked after a week or two as it was nothing personal.
so basically i block only people who really try to ruin the experience of others.
Beyond an uncapped block list, I would LOVE to see a short term block option. Like block for a week, or month. There are plenty of players that I don’t want to be matched with them currently, but in a week, maybe a month, I don’t mind giving them another shot.
Be really nice if we had a few buttons to choose from too. Griefer, Annoying Voice, Racist PoS, Sexist PoS, Targeted Harassment… etc.
My blocklist has been growing recently. Not because of verbal harassment, but all the people in Auric trying to get a penance title who leave when they’re downed.
Since their spots are no longer being backfilled it leaves me doing true duo’s and solo’s.
