Plans for 2024 and State of the Game?

lol fair enough!

suppressing criticism does not help to correct mistakes, but a lot of criticism is also bad, since it has a counteraction effect. We need a balance, but where does it come from when all people are different?

It’s a price point thing, it’s in the name. Microtransactions. It’s not the amount of content, it’s the payment - if you look it up you’ll see the definition involves “micropayments”, meaning a small amount of money.

I… honestly didn’t expect anyone to read through that giving it any amount of serious thought…

I was being very sarcastic in my post

That said, your reply is absolutely correct, even if prompted by a joke.
The game really isn’t saved. It’s not even close in my personal opinion. And yes - any labor they put forward should be for free, considering the MTX and the initial price of the game.

As to free content drops - they should be, but I’ve since lost all faith in FS, given what DT is atm…

Sincerely, thanks for reading all that slop! And power to you.

Darktide’s microtransactions ain’t “micro” in any way, though. They’re macrotransactions.

Didn’t they say that they want/need to work on basic systems before going back to content? I mean there are many people posting in the technical issues forums.

That was January 2023. They said they were going to resume content when they thought the game was in a satisfactory state. They did - in the form of MTX and new missions.

This is what I’ve been saying. If they’re going to do live service then learn from the best.

Still a sh*t model mind you (GaaS). Even GGG chased me off during some leagues with player retention crap.

That said its because their A team has been full into PoE 2 which I’m quite hyped about.

About a year ago they said they would delay seasonal content until the game was in a satisfactory state and that has yet to come. And it is unclear what that was all about or if it even existed in the first place.

new characters, opponents, weapons, locations are what any similar game needs. And no one looks at any cosmetics and jewelry. And nobody really needs them.

Kinda useless if they never up the level cap from 30 along with adding new items and character classes

If anything, i find this thread thus far has shown that there is a clear need for some form of communication to address the state of the game.

To explain where we stand and if we are still in the phase last year’s open letter outlines or if we have moved into the position where we are now heading for seasonal content. I mean, i could be wrong but the latest addition doesn’t quite feel like seasonal content… it feels more like it’s still base content.

I honestly would just like to know where we stand and what’s on the horizon. A reason to stay invested in the game.

Someone said “move on to another game” earlier in this thread and quite frankly, if i move on, i am not coming back. This has less to do with this game in particular and is more how it’s been for me for the past 30 odd years. It is very, very rare that i will revisit a game. There is always something new to do, instead of going back to something old.

It would be nice to have a reason to keep the game on the radar at least. Not saying anything about anything… that doesn’t work for me. I am not intrigued by a mystery box that might or might not have yet some more trick in store.

Especially not when next to the mystery box sits a new shiny with all flashy screenshots and videos going “come play me instead!”

My premade is already discussing where to go next, determined to keep the band together, but at the same time also not quite finding something we all can agree on.

Having something to point to and say “hey, this is coming up later this year, it will be fun” might be enough to get us to stay. As i said… it would be nice to be given a reason to stay invested.

And the community has clearly many open questions that need addressing. Then again, it doesn’t even seem like either CM is even active on the Forums, engaging with the community.

That a 27 day’s old plea for support in a vote that is already lost is on top of the announcement section is indeed a very questionable PR decision.

And I seriously don’t get the anti road map argument - if they don’t want to make wrong promises they don’t have to. They know their procedures, their battle rhythm and have years of experience developing horde games. I don’t buy they couldn’t deliver a realistic roadmap. And even if they choose a pessimistic schedule - who would be bothered if they announced: “due to unexpected progress we’ll release feature X one month early”.

What I personally wish for in order of preference:

  • scrapping gambling in favour of crafting
  • offline single player
  • p2p servers where I can choose mission and modifiers at my liking
  • new enemy faction (xenos)
  • new biomes
  • new missions (one with those beautiful leman russes or some chimeras in action would be neat)

If gambling is removed:

  • new class
  • new weapons

I have the same opinion. I do not trust Fatshark to not butcher any new cosmetic feature they might add into the game. I’d rather have a free add-on with a bit of jank than an officially supported feature that’s cut up with a scalpel and a bonesaw.

I think this is deliberate. They are SOMETIMES active, in that you’ll see them reply to things like bug complaints, but they refuse to touch anything about crafting or MTX. I think their bosses have told them they’re not allowed to discuss those topics.

• Unlikely unless concurrent player count drop below 3k
• Impossible. Game is server based.
• Impossible. Same reason to drive MT purchases, it’s their core business model.
• Likely(data mined)
• Will be
• Will be( but don’t put too much hope in their map design, all of them are awful linear rushes with only a few interesting open space fighting scenarios included in like 2, 3 maps)

Agreed - listed by personal preference not likelyness.

Disagree - solo mod does exactly this. So it’s already technically possible. “All” they need to do is enable progression. How difficult that actually is however I obviously can’t judge.

Judging from Julia’s comments in Technical Support, I think we can expect some form of ‘here’s what to expect’ tomorrow or Friday, and a patch in the next couple weeks.

Open development works in PoE because they actually play their own game.
