Because Japanese devs deliver a solid product most of the time, but when they donāt CEO/lead game designer makes some apology video, not just letter. Same thing was with CDPR after CP2077, people who was in charge atleast showed their face on camera while doing corpo speech, so people know whom to blame.
+1 to this. Japanese work ethics are completely different level.
I spent 3 months in Japan. People sit down with their team when it comes to holiday request and they all mutually agree on re-distributing work load. They donāt just book with their boss directly. They speak to team first.
They even insist they should be contacted even when on holiday to ensure the business operations continues smoothly if required to do so.
In Japan when a person comes back from holiday it is even typical for them to bring back snacks/candy etc as gifts to the team, basically to say thank you for covering for them.
They care about eachother much differently than in western work culture.
Yeah, and that level is one of the worlds most toxic work cultures.
Instead of the company rewarding the workers because they took more work (for the company), the colleague is expected to be thankful. Like, they covered for the company, not you.
I do admire Japanese sense of community esp. in the time of crisis, but when you abuse that dedication for the profit of the companies and their shareholders, it just becomes exploitative and toxic.
I would much rather work in, say, Sweden. They seem to be doing fine and you actually have time for things like, you know, life.

there is a breed of cats that dont trigger allergy, their saliva does not have the protein that triggers the reaction. let me check their nameā¦ i am too old to remember stuff like this
