Not necessarily. Some companies also just don’t see the point in overdoing the communication part.

Case in point: Japanese companies. Many of them are dead silent and only sparsely release info via established media companies, while also fielding a formal and very distanced way of communicating when they do.

I’d agree with you about most of what you say if there weren’t a solid, 10 year history of poor communication, missed goals, and mismanagement at that company. “Maybe things aren’t so bad” looks alright in a vacuum. We don’t have a vacuum here.

It can be difficult to do one’s job to the best of your abilities while being continually weighed down by poor management. I don’t know the inner workings of FS but, it seems this is the case here. Totally not your fault

It is, but I don’t think that means that Catfish’s poor communication is her own fault, any less than somebody could blame their own mouth for insulting you instead of themselves.

Catfish has likely been told “Go make thek feel better, but you can’t make us look bad” when Fatshark is the one making Fatshark look bad. She’s been given absolutely nothing to work with.

It’s basically when someone is used as a human shield away from tech staff.

In my industry they’re called Service Delivery Managers, Customer Relationship Manager etc. Someone to take the flak and filter out noise and information to pass on and back.

If look at other games like Diablo 4, Creative Assembly, Paradox etc the developers themselves create videos, show their faces, show passion on continued development and not afraid to put their name and face out there out of confidence, OK these games have their own problems too. But DT tech staff - Very hidden away.

I’ve been generally impressed that very few people have directed their ire at Catfish relatively speaking tbh. Like, the sheer number of ‘I understand you cannot say more because your bosses suck’ rather than blaming her is pretty impressive considering the general behavior of capital-G Gamers.

On rare occasion to this day, someone on Discord asks me if [map_name] is one of the new maps cause they haven’t played it before. One person last month even asked if Comms-plex is a new map because they hadn’t played it even though it came out in December, 6 months before then.

Today I played with a friend and they asked if Archivum Sycorax is one of the new maps even though that came out 6 weeks ago, they simply hadn’t seen it until now because they don’t play several hours every day. :sob:

So now I’m here, sharing about how I was reminded of how depressing these systems are.

Depressing and kinda self-destructive to the game itself. I feel like a lot of these systems that supposedly are meant to psychologically ‘trick’ players into spending more time in-game, actually do the opposite drive and people (especially new players) away from the game.

Its such a small thing, but the “Editing all aspects of character after creation” is something so many people want. Myself included.
After using the same voice on a vet for months, I find myself wishing for some variety, but don’t want to remake a veteran! (I know, I’m lazy)

Heck, so many of the things on these lists seem like such small fixes, but I’m no game dev. Would be nice to have a QOL patch soon though.

It’s pretty incomprehensible to me that Fatshark would go to the trouble of buffing the ogryn shield’s stats as a temporary bandage while they rework it, but flat out refuse to add another damnation mission slot to the mission board as a temporary bandage while they un f*ck the mission board…

Ogyn shield needs a rework. Rather it being plonked into ground and static.

i.e. A half movement speed with shield up as they gradually push up against gunners and everyone can line up behind.

but first the shield needs to have a fully rendered hitbox that blocks any enemy projectile no matter the end target

@brosgw By the way great job on this list. Seems to be the best piece of transparency we got on record for Fatshark. The last thing we had was the roadmap for Vermintide 2 until they shut it down, which made it difficult to keep Fatshark honest unless you were willing to dig through forum posts on the subject.
