Penance Points Acquisition

It makes perfect sense. You directly said that my complaint about PENANCE POINTS ACQUISITION was ā€œirrelevantā€ in the ā€œPenance Points Acquisitionā€ thread. I highlighted that what you said was a bit small-minded and incorrectly dismissive. Other’s arguments are just as valid as your own believe it or not.

Yes.
You and the other guy said ā€œi played this many hours before the update and only had this many penance pointsā€.
You are talking about penance point acquisition BEFORE the update. That is irrelevant, when complaining about penance point acquisition now, AFTER the update.

Before the update, it took much more time to gain any amount of penance points, than it does now.
Most of the time you played before the update, was likely spent without progressing any penances at all (or maybe progressing penances with a cumulative value of 20 points or so).
This time has absolutely no relevance, when it comes to penance point acquisition now.

You played 1000 hours before the update and only got to 2500 points?
After the update, you can gain another 1250 points by just playing missions for 10 hours.
10 hours. Not 500 hours.
Your average number of penance points per playtime before the update, is completely irrelevant.

You did not. You did not even imply any of that.
You simply implied that i missed the topic entirely. Which i did not.

If you and i made the same argument, then sure. The same argument coming from two people, can be equally valid.
But we did not make the same argument at all and your argument was not valid. Not because you were the one to write it down, but because it is a bad argument.

Yeah… complaining about not having all new penances finished within a few days after the update came out, is kinda pathetic.

What does a person like that want?
How would you make such a person happy?

There must be more new content, but at the same time, it is terrible if the player is not immediately done playing the new content.
People like that can not possibly be catered to.

I understand what you’re saying in one way, but in another way you’re being disingenous. There is no ā€˜playing new content’ from this patch. There is only playing existing content, in order to unlock some (mostly trash imo) cosmetic rewards.

This isn’t a case of releasing 50 more levels, with talent trees increased by 50 levels, and then someone complaining about how long it takes to level up to 80. It’s also not a case of Fatshark releasing 20 more maps, and then someone complaining about how long it would take to play all 20 maps.

This is grind with cosmetics attached, no one is playing new content.

That’s crazy man, how did you complete 250 auric missions in less than a week?!

Guy meant ā€œi gotā€ as in ā€œi counted and this is the number that came outā€.
Not as in ā€œi already did all new penances and now have this manyā€.

Were you hugged a bit too much or a bit too little as a child? My argument isn’t valid because it’s not one that you share? Even on the same topic? Isn’t the whole point of an argument that someone else SHOULD have an opposing one? I’m sorry, again, that I have integrity and a LIFE, Lifeless. There’s nothing to hear you out on if you’re just gonna be a dismissive fool about everything.

You’re saying that like there’s new content, which there really isn’t. I’m just completing achievements that I’ve already reached ALL OVER AGAIN. I’ve spent 650 hours in this tiresome game and this is all I have to show for it?

Pathetic? Yeah, I’m pathetic because I wasted 650 hours of my life being a part of this community and this playerbase. There was only two new things that I wanted out of this update and I’ll have to spend MONTHS getting one of those things when it really isn’t worth MONTHS of my life. I’ve had most of these ā€œnewā€ Penances actually completed since like DECEMBER of LAST YEAR. Now I’ve got to do it again. Hooray! If that’s what you call ā€œcontentā€, you have NO critical thinking skills.

Unlike yourself and a number of others here, I have these things called FRIENDS and A JOB and they require my attention, so hiding in my room all Winter grinding out these shitty new Penances is not worth my time. Sounds unfamiliar, doesn’t it?

Yeah my beef is that we were told 'these penances that you’ve effectively already completed will be marked as completed and then…that didn’t happen.

Actually, you know what? I’m annoyed enough by this to file a bug report. Retroactive Penance Completion not working

Instead of strawmanning me and personally attacking me, how about you actually address what i said?

I already answered this in the passage that you cited.

Integrity or unreasonable personal attacks.
Choose one.

You do not have to do anything.
And i already told you twice now:
The rate at which you acquire penance points, is no longer comparable to how it was before the update.
It will probably not take you months to get to the 4500 points, but weeks.
You will get most of the new penance points by simply playing the game, or maybe doing a 1 minute detour once on each map.
Anyway, you do not HAVE to farm for the cosmetic. It is just a cosmetic that does not affect your gameplay in any way. If it is not worth your time, just don’t waste your time on it.

If you really want to see that armor piece on your character, you can probably use a mod for that.
But other players will not see you wearing it.

The rest of your post is just a bunch of personal attacks, that are not worth my time, so i will not waste my time engaging with them.
See how easy that is?

Anyway, i suggest you chill out a bit about there being a single cosmetic in the game, that you might not be able to get within the next few weeks (although i think you probably could do it).

Don’t worry, I will, because the penance rewards have so much low quality padding. I think the very layout of how Fatshark chose to pace out the most decent rewards of the Penance system is pretty lame. The final reward should have been a title, an animated portrait frame, a special backpack and a ā€œShirtlessā€ cosmetic. Trinkets should never have been individual rewards and should have been bundled with other things like, for example, Titles (there are so, so very few of these at the moment). The Moebian 6th outfit should have had expensive recolored alternatives in the Commissary for those who would rather have fun playing the game than farming to 4500. Personally, the most I can picture myself farming for is 4300 points over the long term and I am convinced that most of the rewards past 3400 are not worth the effort.

TLDR: If you started playing now, you would likely be able to get all the way through the penance point reward track (maxes at 4500 points) by the time you have played 100 missions with each class, which takes around 200 hours of playtime.

This is assuming an average of 30 min per successful mission.
The time it takes to finish a mission is usually lower than that, but this increased time accounts for wipes that might happen.

Since you will earn an estimated 185 points more than you need, you would probably be fine with 75 missions on 2 of the 4 classes.

Total penance points available:
90+460+450+450+470+405+335+500+570+1260
=4990

Total points expected after 400 missions played (100 missions per class):
90+460+450+450+470+345+335+375+550+1260
=4785

I might have a counting error somewhere, but here is what i got for each section:

Account (90 points)

Level all 4 classes to 30 and you got them all

Classes

Veteran (460 points)
Zealot (450 points)
Psyker (450 points)
Ogryn (470 points)

Play 100 matches with each class and you got them all.

Some penances require you to use a specific blitz/ability/aura/keystone.
It takes about 10 matches to complete each of those penances (some can be done in a single match).
Each class has 3 options for blitz/ability/aura/keystone.
Since you can do the penances for one of each at the same time, you would have to play around 20 of those 100 matches with builds that are different than what you would usually run with.

Tactical (405 points) (after 400 matches, probably 345/405 points)

After playing 400 matches (100 per class) you can expect to have completed most of these.

You will probably miss 60 points due to these penances not being finished (click to expand)
  • Up and at them requires you to help downed allies. Within 400 matches, i would expect you to have helped more than 100 but fewer than 500 downed allies .
You lose out on T4 and 5, which are 5 points each.
    (-10 points)
  • War’s not over requires you to rescue allies that have been killed. Within 400 matches, i would expect you to have rescued more than 50 but fever than 250 allies.
You lose out on T3, 4 and 5, which are 5 points each.
    (-15 points)
  • Purge the heretic requires you to kill enemies. Across 400 matches i would expect an average of ~250 kills per mission to be achievable. That sums up to 100k kills, which is enough to get T3 of this penance. You lose out on T4 and 5, which are 5 points each.
    (-10 points)
  • Situational awareness requires you to blow up enemies with explosive barrels. Across 400 missions i expect 500 barrel kills to be reasonable. 1000+ seems a bit high, so you miss out on T4 and 5, which are 5 points each.
    (-10 points)
  • Discipline and teamwork requires you to deploy ammo crates and medipacks. Deploying 250 over the course of 400 mission seems very achievable. Deploying 500 might be a bit too high, so you miss T5 of the penance, which is 5 points.
    (-5 points)
  • Dream team requires you to complete 100 missions without anyone being downed. That is probably an unrealistic expectation for the first 400 missions played, so you are not gonna get those 10 points.
    (-10 points)

Heretical (335 points)

After playing 400 matches, you should have all of these.

Missions (500 points) (after 400 matches, probably 375 points)

After playing 400 matches (100 per class) you can expect to have completed most of these.

You will probably miss 125 points due to these penances not being finished (click to expand)
  • By doing 400 missions, you will obviously not have completed 500 missions, so you skip the last tier of Atoman auxilia.
    (-5 points)
  • You will clear each objective type around 50 times. There are 7 primary objective types. You will miss the penances for 75 and 100 each, which are 5 points each, so -10 per objective type.
    (-70 points)
  • You will likely get at least 50, but not 100 hacks, as well as more than 100 but less than 200 auspex scans. You miss two penances (one for each) which are worth 5 points each.
    (-10 points)
  • If you pay some attention to it, 400 matches are probably enough to extract with 60 scriptures and 45 grimoires. You will skip the last tier of both penances, which are 10 points each.
    (-20 points)
-You will likely not clear 30 missions each with Vent purge, pox gas and power outage condition. Probably also not 50 maelstrom missions.
10 of each condition and 25 maelstrom missions seem very realistic though. You skip the last tier of each of the 4 penances. and lose 5 points each.
    (-20)

Exploration (570 points) (after 400 matches, probably 550 points)

After playing 400 matches (100 per class) you can expect to have completed most of these.

You will probably miss a few points, due to not having played 50 missions in every single region.
25 missions played in every region is to be expected for sure.
You might not clear 50 in around 4 regions, which loses you 5 points each (20 points overall).

Endeavours (1260 points)

After playing 400 matches (100 per class) you can expect to have completed all of these.
You just need to play all 18 missions on Auric damnation difficulty, at least once.

Edit: fixed a mistake in the calculation

Most upset I think I’ve ever seen you. Would be a lot funnier if I didn’t agree with you.

I’m real sorry, I get unjustifiably mad whenever someone asks me to listen to their argument after they completely refused to listen to mine.

Especially when their whole argument is ā€œNuh uh, you’re just not putting enough effort in if you’re not willing to do the exact same thing all over again when you were literally told that you wouldn’t have to.ā€

That is not at all, what my argument was. I even agreed, that a bunch of other penances should have been auto completed.

Can you stop lying already?
What is it with some people on here, strawmaning and misrepresenting every other statement they do not like?

If you think I’m lying, you’re in a different reality. Stop backpedaling.

Please ignore the fact that people ā€œstrawmanā€ you because you’re being intentionally provocative with every word out of your mouth.

Don’t have to apologize for anything. Like I said I agree with the sentiment and I feel a lot of the same frustration, and I’m sure lots of other people do as well (at least people I talk to do).

I got to 3500 yesterday, and I am a big fan of the chest pieces for all 4 characters, even if they are rehashed pieces. The black, red, and gold looks great (Wish Vet got some of the same color scheme but the classic Militarum green is still cool), and FINALLY getting armored Ogryn cosmetics not in the cash shop is a miracle. Beyond that the only thing I would care about is the 4k penance points for the Zealot mask, but I’m done actually caring and tracking penances to achieve that (although part of it is the insane performance issues I have been having recently).

I get that you could think that, if you get offended when ever somebody disagrees with you or tells you that you are wrong about something.
You probably feel provoked by me, because i call it out when people lie and talk bs.

Like when you claimed that your playtime before the update was the time required to get to 2000 penance points, and that this would somehow translate to how long it would take to get to 4500 points after the update.
And i told you that this is not the case. So you got mad about that, although it is an obvious fact.

Or when someone else complained about not having been able to finish all new penances within 3 days after the update was released.
I said that it was pathetic, and you got offended and felt personally attacked by that.

I even made the effort to look through the penances and make an educated estimation of how long it would take to get to 4500 points, when starting from scratch. Since everybody who complained about penance point acquisition, apparently preferred to just throw around their pre patch playtime (as if that has anything to do with new content) and make things up.
But that was probably intentionally provocative, too.
