PCGamer interview: 'It took a while to get there, but now we feel we're in a good place': Fatshark's design director talks doing years of repair work on Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

You had to delete it, because it was correct.

It’s got worse.

Mmm, looks like I misclicked. I didn’t delete anything…

Hello, I just woke up.

For whatever reason, all of your replies in this thread have been hidden?

What did your want to say to me?

Ha, I’m on the reply list too.

I’m guessing it wasn’t important.

Sadly I feel that this is not something that’s really likely to happen.

The game is still not in a good place imo, and it makes me sad.

In order of importance from my perspective: The game consistently dropping inputs, server performance, and stability (crashes and dcs) often ruin the experience to me.

I play it more out of boredom and habit than enjoyment.

Magnuson increasingly gives me Randy Pitchford vibes.

In that I can’t really say for sure he is intentionally dishonest, but either way if I worked for his company I’d be concerned every time he publicly opens his mouth.

At least Magnuson isn’t active on Twitter or who knows what damage could be done.

And yeah he’s correct in that a lot of us veterans fought off conspiracy theories of the game being secretly abandoned and that they were just going to run away with everyone’s money. That doesn’t mean we were happy that the Fatshark release controversy curse still had its usual grip on the franchise.

sadly thats the curse of 40k, grimdark indeed

I don’t think it’s a warhammer curse. Hell I hope the next project that FS does is without Game Workshop.

Like the Warhammer ā€œcurseā€ is mostly that big dev studio legit don’t want to pay for Ip cost, when they know they have enough fans that they can do their own stuff (No Ip cost, being able to write things as they want).

Hence why a Battlefield or Battlefront 40k is dubious. Even Total War Warhammer which is tbh the biggest warhammer game around stemmed from CA basically being on its death throes. Where their Historical games were being less and less popular.

But regardless of warhammer or not, there are just not that many games that are made for melee enjoyers compared to ranged.

Some of us were even saying such before the game had the open beta. That the game will most likely release rough as a horse kick

It’s statements like these man, that make it hard to discuss. You could have said, ā€œI’m glad it released at that point even though it was a shitshow. They should have at least released it in early access so people knew what to expect.ā€

"They are not out of touch, they just only care about lining the pockets of ScamCents, share holders, and their own pockets.

They could fix it, but they are more interested in fleecing us."

Is what I said.

Because the mods are in full cope mode, and can’t handle the brutal truth off it all.

FleeceShark, ScumShark, because of all their scummy practices like fomo shop, giving out quills in an event, but not enough to get anything, whilst removing general cosmetics from the store that were cheap, to fleece players with over priced cosmetics where 5 outfits for class, is more expensive than the game.

And ScumCents, for all their scummy practices which are more about fleecing gamers than making games good.

So just pure cope from the mods.

Not exactly sure what is wrong with this?

More cope from the mods? maybe bullying?

Or maybe I just logged on?

It’s not like their isn’t a million reasons why someone hasn’t replied straight away.

I have more things to do, than spending all my time on a forum, watching fragile mods, hide my posts for no reason.

Yeah, a couple I can agree due to being seriously frustrated at the time, because that is how frustrating the game has become.

Darktide should really be able to achieve both.

So it should be down to player reference.

By for some reason, they have been making it more and more melee focused.

PC gamer, used to do this all the time a long long time ago when it was a paper release.

It’s just been a shill show for years now.

Balance always ought to lean toward Melee, otherwise you’ll end up like Deathwing Space Hulk :skull:

In a ranged centred game, either the melee end up a 1-hit kill (common), or it become useless.

Counterpoint: old Darktide had plenty of options for melee despite being ranged centered. You brought the melee out to clean up hordes, clear space, or handle armor (bolter or rarely pg did the job of the last pretty well, but some classes had different loadouts). You can have a melee selection with specific uses without having to subscribe to the 1-hit-or-useless idea.

I’m off the opinion that ammo should be scarce. You get what you bring. There can be a crate for refill, otherwise you need to be conservative.

Vet value an be increased if the ammo regen aura is a passive.

The ammo economy in this game is busted and it’s why people are playing Aurics, hovering up ammo and never learned how to melee.
