I think under other circumstances I’d be happy for this news but I’m honestly still miffed about FS promising to give an update at the end of March, fûcking off, blowing through the deadline without a word, and then just dropping it here now like nothing happened. It was damned rude and unprofessional.

Or more precisely, it’s the sentiment and implication behind that rude conduct I find so contemptible. That they think so little of us, their customers, that it’s just not worth the time to say “oh, our bad. Give us a week, we’re running behind”.

I mean, this is all welcome, but the problem is I can’t grind some of these in the first place without being an active detriment to my team. We need a solo mode for this.

Looks fine, kinda happy that we’ll get the artwork cosmetic for everyone. New condition and a new enemy is nice.

We don’t know what the penance conditions are yet. If they’ve learned their lesson from the first iteration, they’ll be actions that won’t interfere with the normal flow of a mission.

On the screenshot they’ve used to demonstrate it, the conditions can be completed just by playing the game.

Well this was expected based on the “What’s coming up in darktide” post so i don’t get why this update seems to come as a big surprise to some.

Anyways the penance update seems “fine”, I don’t have anything particularly interesting to say based on whats written here.
Dreg tox bomber on paper just sounds like a different flavor of bomber and not really a new enemy type i was hoping, but remains to be seen i guess.
New condition sounds like its going to be one of those annoying mods that none cares for, but again remains to be seen after testing it out.

Overall eh, i kinda wish the update has some more substance like balancing updates. I don’t think this patch otherwise has anything particularly interesting to keep me invested for too long.

Just not balance-related updates. Just not from FS, they either make some kind of monster that destroys everything and everyone, or (don’t be offended) they make a laughingstock out of a combat psyker. Playing with a staff no longer brings any pleasure, while this class remains the most glassy. In normal games, glassiness is caused by damage, here it is also there, but you need to use builds through small arms (yes, you can use staves, but this cannot be achieved with them in terms of the ratio of effort and efficiency). What FS did with the class - they worked with the balance, and now, playing as a psyker, I will even be in the top in terms of damage, the first thought in my head is: why does the support have so much damage, why does the team not finish the game. That is, I want to say that being a psyker, I feel like a support and not a DD, which is what he should be.
How many changes were required to turn a nondescript shooter into a normal one? Looking at the soldier branches in the 13th patch, it was funny to me because they were the most empty in terms of interestingness. Now it’s a different matter, but again, how much time and patches for the sake of one class.

Any new content is welcome, but for me as an old hand, I’m wondering what it is that I get from it? Most of these additions look great for someone at 50 hours looking forwards, but at 1000 hours looking forwards not so much.

Will my 1000 hours worth of game time be reflected in these penances, or are you asking me to start from scratch to earn them. I’m not going to do that btw, not without other reasons to play the game more.

Dare I say it: this is the wrong game for this idea? It’s not VT2. Most players don’t want to go exploring obscure corners; if it were a key mechanic for top end loot implemented from the start, then it’d be baked in to playstyles, but retro-fitting I think is going to cause squad division during matches. Like grimoires do now.

Copy pasta. This is just a reskin of an existing enemy? Bit like scab shotgunner vs dreg shotgunner? I mean, fine, but I see this adding next to nothing to the game experience.

Actually, the feature I’m most looking forward to. I remember the community post with this idea in for a condition. Be nice to see how it’s implemented.

Really? You want to wring yet more Ordo dockets out of people for simple functional changes… still? Let me insert an eye roll emoji :roll_eyes: Pardon the pun, but you’re really going to have to stretch the barbershop narrative if he’s able to change your height.

Yeah let’s just never touch anything because fatshark might screw up. Not like there are plenty of awful blessings, talents and even weapons that could use a number tweak or two.

I don’t really buy your psyker take, but i can definitely see that psyker has plenty of talents that could use a tweak or two to make the class more interesting.

Correct, the penance progression will not be lost. Also, if you’ve already met the requirements for the new penances, they’ll be unlocked.

I don’t want to be rude, but I’m going to be. I hope that this is just part of the update because the crafting, and if you’re going to drip-feed us, please don’t take a month for the next update. The hype was lost after a couple of weeks.

The dreg bomber was here for more than 1 year. Just a delayed content.
You could see it in the game files.

question is, what is there to divide?

someone pulls off something amazing, he has every right in my book to brag.

if anything i´d be motivated to reach the same goal and be a bit more assured to see “competent” members in my team waving those badges.

like the twins hardmode badge (in most cases) show someone is capable of doing more difficult stuff
(sure he could have been carried, but this applies for any ordinary match as well)

on the other hand i don´t need a badge to “write off” someone after the first couple encounters so that “dividing” filter is there, blingbling or not.

I’m not completely against the balance changes. Only if they do, they at least listen to the people who play. Here’s an example - a head explosion. Yes, they slightly speeded up the casting speed, but even so, this talent is extremely ineffective. As long as I shake my hands, anyone will kill my target. How many proposals were made on how to improve it, as examples from those that I remember:
AoE cast with less damage (but kills X regular mobs). A strong explosion is guaranteed to kill a crusher on difficulty 5+, but at the same time immediately gives 50% overheating, the output is no more than two at a time. We could go on, but no. Good ideas lie dead weight on the outskirts of the forum… It’s a shame

Here’s a question: are there plans for rewards for those crazy people who are mired in their class, I mean that those who have level 500+ in one class are allowed (yes, I’m talking about the possibility of tracking using mods). Is there any way to single out these crazy people?

And yes, if you are already introducing a battle pass, then why not implement a leaderboard in some format in the central hub?

Heyo, great question. I looked into it. When the update comes out, you’ll need to claim the rewards you qualify for in the new system. So they don’t all automatically dump into your inventory at once. :+1:

I’ve also seen a few people ask this elsewhere, so I’ll add it here too – There will be new penances and earnable rewards added in the future to this system over time. It isn’t going anywhere, and they will not be monetized.

And since I’m waiting for the mission on AM to change to another and I have a minute, then here’s another one.
Why not introduce weekly tests for the community like:
Kill X number of mutants and get a reward (no matter what). After all, we are operatives and we work not only for ourselves, but for the Imperium and it has a goal.
You can write down other options for community interaction. And for example, if a weekly task is not completed, then there will be some kind of fine for everyone.

I’d also like to see improvements to weapons/talents balance. There are quite a few weapons that have one variant that is superior to the others in every way.

Combat is the only reason why I play this game
The passing a mission is reward in itself for me and I don’t really care will I receive any kind of portrait for it or not as it have no effect on gameplay variability
