Open Letter to our players

I got tricked, i thought it was a new apology letter for this year and got my hopes up.

Oof. Sorry to disappoint. But Fatshark only apologizes once Steam reviews hit Mostly Negative.

So that letter was a f ucking lie.

Where is this “complete crafting system”, or this “more rewarding progression loop”, or this “game stability and performance optimization”?

They ‘completed’ the crafting system by adding the rest of the RNG in

They made progression ‘more rewarding’ by giving us a guaranteed random (ie, garbage) roll for every finished mission

They had more game stability then nuked it for reasons I don’t yet understand.

I mean, of course it was a lie. The words of Fatshark should never be taken seriously until the show that they can back 'em up.

It’s funny how this game’s history shows how the community feels about stuff. It went from optimistic to increasingly jaded as time went on and the wall of silence grew.

Thanks for the update, Im glad to hear it and it gives me more hope that DT will become better and better.

Vermintide 2 took a long time to get where it is and now its in a great place.

I am patient and just hope DT does the same.

Dude what update are you talking about? This letter is from a year ago and since then we have taken two steps forward and ten steps back.

Ah my mistake, I thought this was from today.

Damn, that makes things so much worse than I thought.

That’s two now. Nope, Fatshark ‘apologized’ about a year ago

I unearthed it to remind people of what we were promised.

Now that you make me think about it, there’s a pattern…
Golden Age of the Imperium → The Waning → The Time of Ending
Maybe we should expect an Indomitus Era? I don’t know if I have the strength.

It literally caused me to be all “Holy shizzle, they are actually being proactive, maybe the beginning of some real community love!!”

But nope, dashed once again on the sharp jagged rocks of disappointment!

Still, it was right of you to bring this zombie up @Ragnarok101

Im hoping this grabs the attention of the taggable community staff on the forums:

@FatsharkCatfish
@Fatshark_Hedge
@FatsharkLev
@FatsharkAlan
@FatsharkQuickpaw
@FatsharkJulia

These things in particular stand out to me. The game is immensly playable and for that I feel you have done a good job, but the crafting system spoils this gameplay loop for many. We could use some real feedback on what you are looking at for the future.

I personally cannot support you by buying cosmetics until I see an improvement to the way the community is treated regarding the quality i.e. the kick in the teeth that is literal recolours being sold as premium cosmetics… and quantity of earnable cosmetics both on characters and weapons.

I dont think it would take all that much to gain back much lost trust between Fatshark and the community.

But idk, maybe people are splashing out on cosmetics like there is no tomoro and my post is like an annoying ratling, merely gnawing fruitlessly at Fatsharks boot about the concerns of a tiny vocal minority here on Fatsharks own forums.

I just feel this is important. I hope the tagged staff do too! :kissing_heart:

Uh…last I heard, Hedge no longer works as a CM. Hasn’t since August. The current people involved in Darktide are, iirc, Catfish, Quickpaw (more as an announcer guy) and a new guy by the name of @FatsharkStrawHat

Im just throwing it out there with sheer abandon and seeing where it sticks :laughing:

How optimistic of you.

I remember this open letter. I stopped playing for 10 months shortly after. Nearly every promise they’d made would be broken, each goal missed.

Fatshark fell short taking a header off a cliff.

We’re over a year in and the game still can’t claim to have even completed one of these, particularly the crafting system. We’re experiencing dismal performance (the game now runs WORSE at 1080p for my system than it does on 1440p, how the HEL did they manage THAT?) and while ONE piece of randomized garbage Wargear per match is a massive improvement over once every handful of games, is the progression loop really more rewarding?

I love that not only did they continue down this path, but they’ve actively ignored feedback to help improve the experience of playing they’ve received since BETA.

Fatshark continues to plummet off the cliff from which it initially dove.
