Mediocre weapons all around, light attacks suck even though you’re a damn ogryn, heavy attacks need a 2 second windup for some reason and are slow AF. Class abilities wise, there is nothing to write home about either, there is literally no point in running anything other than heavy hitter. Feel no pain is fine but it barely saves you on damnation and running any sort of ranged build on ogryn is an exercise in futility. Sad that the most unique class is also the worst to play.
Huh?
Basically any time that i have seen an ogryn do insane damage, it was a ranged spammer.
I really enjoy ogryn. He is a bit slow on the heavy wind up but overall feels good to me.
Such is preference. I tend to agree with you but I’m a Zealot main so it stands to reason that slow is antithetical to my ideal playstyle.
Ogryn is my main class, currently at around level 1060. Best class in the game in my opinion, great damage, great builds, just great in general. Been using a gunlugger build recently, killing bosses in less than 10 seconds, soloing daemonhosts in almost every mission, its a fun class.
Agreed!
If I wasn’t so into my self-insert Veteran character, I’d main my Ogryn!
The main weakness of Ogryn and the thing that prevents him from being the best class in the game is sluggishness and a lack of range IMO. The former cannot be avoided and the latter can be somewhat ignored with the use of a Kickback or Grenadier Gauntlet, but both are slow to deploy and thus take commitment to snipe specials with.
I think the true best class in the game is Zealot - quad Zealot can cruise through a level in record time and it’s a self-reliant class with the best defensive active ability in the game, as well as exceptional utility on grenades. Veteran is a contender for top spot as well.
Zealots the best class? The ones always running ahead to get netted or jumped on by a hound and rage quit? The ones that wake up DH’s and rage quit? The ones that aggro entire hordes and then go invisible so all the enemies attack the rest of the team while they continue to run ahead and end up dying, calling the team worthless or slurs, and then rage quitting? I mean sure its a good class but really not a team oriented class in a team based game in my opinion. So to me its far from the best
You’re describing the behavior of individual players, particularly players running a single build, not the mechanical aspects of a game class as a whole.
yeah and thats how like 90% of the class is played, so to me, its far from the best class in my opinion. zealots are the first to die and leave in a big chunk of games. Thats just how the class is designed with the Loner aura etc
You cant judge the class itself on how a chunk of its players play. Judge it on it’s mechanical merits. All classes have a high ceiling in terms of potential potency but I’d say zealot and psyker both are the most (potentially) powerful classes.
Low tier bait, but keep going mate. It works.
I absolutely can judge the class how its played, its almost always the first to die, say toxic stuff in the chat, and rage quit, thats just how its played. I have never once seen an ogryn run ahead, die, be toxic, then leave
bait to you, just how the class is played to me, oh well it is what it is
You can say whatever you want. Say banana hammock, I don’t care. What you’re saying is completely anecdotal and not objectively true in any way, so no one is going to be convinced by it or care about it all that much.
That’s the cool thing about it, no one has to care, I’m not forcing anyone to care. I don’t think zealot is the best class and that’s not going to change because of how the class is played in game. If it wasn’t played toxic, I wouldn’t think it is toxic, but again thats my opinion and everyone else can have their own opinions as well. My opinion is that zealot is not very good
For my own part, while I’ve certainly encountered these types, it’s not super common, and I run my Zealot almost exclusively with Choir. There certainly are idiot Loner players that are bad at this game, absolutely, but at least in my experience they’re hardly ubiquitous.
I’m glad that has been your experience
To steer the discussion back to the Ogryn, it is a class that has a bit of a lack of build variety.
Light attacks are frequently weak, heavy attacks are very slow, and while you get impressive cleave and stagger in return, your dps isn’t up to the same scrutiny.
I find that, when playing Ogryn, when the brown stuff hits the rotary blades I tend to be durable and able to play anchor, but I take more damage in any situation than with other, more mobile classes - and I can only tank damage once, I can not take it an infinite amount of times.
A lot of the better Ogryn weapons also lack interesting combos - they aren’t necessarily bad, but, maybe befitting the class, the cognitive requirement to wielding them is somewhat diminished.
