OE nerfs when?

The uppercut hits twice, or at least it used to. There is a thread about the attack being weird like so.

I never stated that shallya is any better in that specific case either, just that everything is basically equally bad in such a scenario. The message was that you are praising barkskin unduly.

And

You are repeating what i write at me now <.<

One second is hyperbole, in a pitched fight its not uncommon for there to be anything from 2-5 seconds before help arrives, especially if scattered by gas or a storm. Which is common if playing in certain events or just modded modes.

It does, but, if you get dragged into say 8 attacking slaverats as a squishy you still evaporate, barkskin or not. Hence my stating something like “If there arent many enemies around, sure, it can help”.

Which certainly helps you from getting fully killed off sure, if enemies around are few or staggered, but it does not prevent the “instantly down” thing.

Hyperbole again, this is not the case for all weapons/loadouts by any means at all. Many careers have a weapon combo or two that typically doesnt struggle too badly with it but all of them certainly have options that are worse at it.

In a vacuum, yes, as i stated. And against specials like gas, like i stated, if you bothered to read, but, it doesnt help if you get knocked into anything extra with any significance. Even if that is just a lone monk starting a chain.
’

Cata as a whole is not unfair, but assassins and packmasters, especially when sound ques do not work/play on delay, are. Or just when faced with a lot of armored elites and the special in question just noclips through the whole bunch. Leeches and stormers are better design from this perspective because they are much more telegraphed.

Barkskin is not bad, i´d go as far as to state that is has careers on which is it really good, but those are not the squishy and oftentime ranged ones for whom barkskin struggles to generate any value except in that one case where they get pinned by a lone assassin or such.

I already mentioned a lot of stuff that helped by barskin. It helps a lot even aginst single hits, becouse sometimes you take cheap damage from ratling mile away, or one tick of gas, or friendly fire. It helps when asasin jumps on you after push for just 0.1 milisecond.
Boon is pure Vacuum. “When you have 1 green HP and 70 white HP it make you full” Otherwise it does almost nothing. It doesnt increase your maximum health. So “this make me 30% more tanky” logic doesnt work.
And if you need more healing against cheap trash damage and die not against specials, but against just attrition, there is a problem in first place.

I could be remembering wrongly, was a while since i tested it but, barkskin explicitly states that it works of “subsequent hits” does it not? Meaning the first hit goes through at full damage?

That overhead is not getting reduced, not are those occasional single gas hits or whatnot. Barkskin gives no value for this stuff. Not unless you are constantly taking lots of little hits while also generating THP.

Good for bulky melee who can afford it, not so good for squishy ranged whose healthbars lose like ´20-40% from random clanrat pokes. Especially if they are not generating THP due to shooting.
’
…
And i have not stated anything on boon but if you want my opinion on it, in the specific scenarios i outlined above? It doesnt help. The biggest advantage with boon is that it helps the on average “worse in melee” ranged classes not suffer from THP issues when not using “that one weapon” which generates at least barely enough. Except in the case of BH who is always the state of drowning.

Specific example was just singular hits to point out that your argument about reducing “cheap damage” doesnt hold up.

Situation when you get jumped by assasin and then got CW hit. Assasin will proc Barskin that will negate next strike. Barskin is good when you are disabled or downed. The most dangerous situations in the game and pretty most common death reason on cata.

Huntsman OE BW and RV have stagger THP. You can take pretty much every weapon and generate a tons. Every weapon has some stagger and pushes have stagger. Pyro has cleave THP and ultimate with THP if you want. WS has cleave THP and good ammount of fast high cleave weapons. Only BH suffers with THP.
Only reason to take Boon is for true soloing or fully range build Sienna for constant venting from THP.

I play a lot of CW and i can see the difference between “everyone has Barskin” and “no one has Barskin”. You cant save anyone. They just get deleted instantly. Same with BCR.

Guys, this thread is not about necklace traits.

True.
OE bombs talents should be nerfed or better deleted
Trollhammer should be nerfed(no conservative shooter) or deleted from OE
And yes, he is really strong even without it

While I agree in spirit, this does edge somewhat close to nerfing the fun out of the weapon and career though.

While I hate how brokenly OP the rework’s been, I love how uniquely different and creative this is compared to the boring generic “get Crits every x hit” talent it replaced. I feel like they just need to change it from unlimited free bombs to something that requires the player to play an active role to create said bombs…or maybe make the bombs weaker if this talent is taken.

As for Trollhammer Torpedo…Ugh, just make this and future possible weapons an exception and give new unique Trait options as most of them are pointless on the weapon, while one makes it OP. Give Trollhammer traits that’d be more relevant to it. Like adjust current stats, but give new traits like…

-Slug - reduce splash radius/damage but increase impact damage and stagger, pierce weaker enemies
-Tungsten Balls - reduce impact damage but increase splash radius/damage
-Scrap Launcher - increase ammo capacity, and restore some ammo if killing armoured enemies, weaker shots
-Explosive Charge - Fires a dud that sticks to surface hit, acts as a mine after 3 seconds passed

Most of traits are pointless on any weapon.
There are only 2 that can be useful for melee and 2,5 that can be useful for ranged. And pretty much all the time only one of them is actually useful for a class. Trollhammer is already OP. I dont think that we need to buff it even more.

And it is oppressive and OP on OE becouse he has:
30% ranged power from talents and passive
50% more ammo
No FF
Secondary ranged weapon to save ammo for the ideal targets

You guys asking for another career nerf, but how about ask to nerf the f**cking Blightstormer with his gigantic area tornado summoned behind a wall?

We already have a lot of BS against us in higher difficulties (including bad ping. bad players and idiotic bots) to think that OE is an actually problem.

If you’re playing on a difficulty above your skill level that sounds like a legitimate argument.

There are a lot of people good enough to not want Cata trivialised though, and who genuinely do get games turned into a snooze fest by OE. You’re going to have to work on your rhetorical abilities if you wanna be convincing when you say it’s not actually an issue.

You dont need OP classes like Oe becouse of this. You can overcome everything as a team.
For example here we have:
Horde
2 bosses
CW pack
Monk pack
And disablers spawns all that time
And we did it without using OE or any other super class like WP, GK, BW, Necro. All pubs with no voice comm.
Only Slayer in our team is SSS+++ class. He was hard carry. Insane player.

Maybe because this is a thread about Outcast Engineer and it’s problems and not Blightstormer.

There’s a blight stormer thread already, don’t derail this one.

And i dont think we even can argue about “cata is difficult without OE”

Becouse it SHOULD be difficult. It is only purpose of Cata.

Some of you guys can keep crying about it here and ask for nerf. FS probably will do it on next balance anyway.

But keep in mind, nerfing OE will not fix anything, except for some lazy players who like to bomb everything and ruin fun.

We already have some high priority issues that need to be fixed (bots, chaos wastes stability, weaves revamp, etc), which can really makes more difference. That’s it.

I dont care about any problems you mentioned. OE ruining all fun is bigger problem then this.

As with most OP careers it’s not just a case of is OP and fixing < this thing> will solve the problem.

It’s a combination of various things plus < that talent> plus < this trait> and < this property> and that adds up to a really fairly niche problem that requires a scalpel to solve rather than a battleaxe. It is niche, but everyone uses it so solving the problem isn’t just a case of tweaking Trollpedo or AOE damage or whatever as obviously this tanks other stuff on careers and so on.

OE is a fun killer as he currently stands.

Trollpedo for me is the key to the problem in that it’s just a bit bloody stupid on OE even at cata where he can pretty much wipe the main difficulty spikes., BUT… fixing trollpedo would just expose other parts of his kit that are a bit silly too. Multiple nerfs would have some in the community having an episode so … for me… trollpedo and how it works with parts of OE’s makup is the first port of call.

Very interesting point of view about this situation and I agree totally about trollpedo.

Solid opinion, very different from some random cry made by some previous posts.

Nerfing OE won’t fix anything…besides the precise thing this entire thread set out looking to fix…

Awesome. Working as intended.

Nope. Because it’s a player issue/decision, not totally the career talent. Maybe if raise the bombs cooldown to prevent spam, but it will continue happening somehow, same as trollpedo.

For example: If a troll BH decides to shoot with double-shotted and kill a team member, it’s not a talent problem, it’s the player idiocy.

There’s no easy solution…
