Not just another "Space Marines on DT" thread

Yes, humanity’s fight, and an ogryn.
Since when were 4 humans able to slay 1200 enemies in 30 minutes or less?
The idea that this game represents the human condition within the 40k universe is laughable. The common human experience in the grim darkness of the far future–where there is only war–would be: get to the front lines, die, game over.

Do you realize that you’re basically regurgitating talking points?

Astartes have better things to do, The Inquisitor has arrived.

Ogryns are not exactly human, you could say that their size and strength is “beyond human.”

Also, on average we have 4 “humans” slaying around 1000+ enemies in under 30 minutes. That feat is most certainly “beyond human”.

Space marines are awesome and I have never played a good fps game that features them; the combat system in space hulk is nowhere near as satisfying as combat in the tide series. I want this combat system with space marines.

I 100% agree.

So many people just regurgitate the same talking points and don’t even respond to your points–like the fact that there aren’t many good fps games that let you play as a space marine.

Or the, this game represents the “human condition” of 40k. Yeah because in the 40k universe, you regularly see 4 humans slaying 1000+ enemies in under 30 minutes.

I’m with you on the spacemarines. Maybe modders can add them.

And yet, Ogryn and Psyker are still part of the Imperial Guard and the greater Imperium, while the SM are in their own devoted subfactions.

Admech people could work because you have them in the normal Imperium and in the Imperial Guard (Though less)

And don’t worry, you have Space marine 2 coming soon (+ Boltgun)

Not gonna lie here, space marines in DT would be out of place and not needed from a story point of view. (We are convicts making a name for ourselves. We are not worthy of a Kill-marine’s support) This coming from someone who loves Black Templars, HOWEVER I also love Deathwatch. A better and more thought out idea would be a Deathwatch fps like darktide. Create your own space marines following chapter/generation of space marine/class that pairs to your attributes and perks, then pair up in squads of 4 to embark on a variety of missions versus a variety of enemies.

Every 40k army has been hardly used in an FPS game, beacuse there have been…3? Firewarrior, Deathwing and now Darktide.

There’s technically Necromunda: Hired Gun, but Necromunda is a slight spin-off of the main stuff despite being part of the setting still.

There’s also the upcoming “Boltgun” game which is Space Marine focused, so even at just 2 games they already have more attention than any other 40k army.

Orgyn’s may potentially be close to Space Marines in terms of strength, but there’s far more to a Space Marine than just that. Ogryn’s can’t ignore anything short of anti-tank weapons for long periods, they don’t have unnaturally fast reflexes and reaction times, they aren’t imbued with centuries of tactical knowledge, given some of the best equipment available that far outclasses anything ordinary humans get, and just aren’t genetically enginereed superhumans who have all sorts of additional capabilities via lots of extra organs and impants.

I wonder if they’d consider a washed out neophyte (and if that’s too much, then an aspirant) as a new character down the road.

Nah. I dont see marines ever comming to darktide. Not to mention they would have to make new “story” and cutscenes, as having a criminal space marine locked in a prison cell is way out of place, and that is highly unlikely, considering fatshark are masters of lazy content. I like SMs, but im glad they wont be added into dt setting.

They cannot simply add Space Marines. Even if they wanted to. Games Workshop barely gives the license for them to any Studio. And when they do, it is always 4 out of 5 times a pile of garbage that is made out of that license.
