Yeah, some stuff does look very familiar, but I don’t mind either way as long as the gameplay is interesting and fun. If anything I really enjoyed the dream-like quality of the weaves’ level-design, with the running back through a familiar, yet surreal environment.
I’m fine with reused assets, a lot of the trailer looked fresh anyway.
The only potential gripe I might have is the colour palette and contrast, but it looks toned back in the trailer.
Weaves induced a lot of migraines and eye strain to the point I felt like I was playing half blind and nauseated.
Welp, congratulations. You have found one of the topics I don’t have some links or at least a reasonable assumption available
Hm, have to check. I think I read something somewhere that before reaching the citadel you have to do three pilgrimages (?) before like the people before the U5. So maybe four story “locations”?
Are these barrels falling or floating? Maybe some kind of reflection of the past similar to Weaves? But just for this Pit?
Floating I think, I imagine a bunch of structures and props will be floating.
It’s at the start of righteous stand.
Hmm interestingly there seems to be FS support page with lot of direct information.

Apparently even talents and such can get modified in the expeditions.
“You will begin an Expedition with your existing hero Talents. Along the path, opportunities will arise to obtain new Talents, Miracles and Boons in addition to your existing abilities.”
Hm, I just noticed that there were four screenshots which can be clicked though O.o Also, you can click the Chaos God Banners. Completely missed that one the first time.
And yea, there is also the support page which is not mentioned anywhere O.o More information, better assumptions ^^
Whoa wait what if you can get two of the same talent on one line or some other bonkers stuff like that?
Is that even possible? What about exclusive and mechanism changing talents like … um … Waystalker Pierce active skill and fourth arrow. You can’t use both at the same time, right?
Guess it could be possible and there could also be systems in place to prevent some of the more game breaking/bugging interactions.
Personally I’m expecting stat upgrades or something totally new.
I’m guessing that by talents, it might mean the effects of potions mentioned in the guide? Miracles could be any god-specific buffs. The Boons were mentioned, the Censer and the Super Bomb. Anyway, next Tuesday we’ll know more… (after we were privileged to download a 100GB again… so maybe I’ll know more on Thursday )
If you follow the link I provided earlier, it specifically mentions talents. Bombs and boons are totally different thing. I even pretty much gave the entire quote from the page.
Huh? I never said that Miracles and Boons have anything to do with the mentioned Talents… I have actually strictly distinguished it… just made a guess that the Potions could be considered as “Talents” since their names sound like they could give smth. like a new Talent (could be wrong, was just a guess, since I couldn’t find any informations about “Talents” elsewhere).
Edit: just re-read it, sry about that, the 2 items count as Miracles.
My guess too, nay, hope, would be for 3 pilgrimage maps - which i struggle to see as story-heavy, but i can hope - followed by a 4th one - the citadel.
I can’t guess anything more than that, but I suppose it could work a bit like the grail knight challenges: you unlock the last map by finishing the other three without dying. Thing is: as a roguelite experience, it probably doesn’t make too much sense to go back to the keep (you’d have to keep playing with the same people, so I’m not sure how that’d work). Will see. Considering crashes or disconnections are a fairly common occurrence in VT i hope there’s some quality of life involved. Also, if you can’t take breaks, you’d have to play for 1h instead of 20-ish minutes, might make it harder to organize things with my busier friends.
EDIT: i just found this out: Miracles, Boons and weapons will not persist from one Expedition to the next; however, some of your Pilgrim’s Coins will. Then I suppose my guess might be correct after all. no need for the expeditions to be completely consecutive.
Although the visuals are beautiful and stunning and I didn’t initially recognize it (because it looks backwards) now that I do I’m a bit worried about reusing the actual maps to this extent. It sort of made sense in the weaves, but it made for a tedious experience. It would be much more noticable here, as you’re supposed to be in parts of the Chaos Wastes, completely removed from anything you know, and yet you wander in familiar streets.
I wouldn’t mind if they just reused models, but the layout really should change. I mean, for me the sense of this voyage is exploring a completely new place. I’d much rather give away the replayability, but get unfamiliar locations to navigate. If this feeling of discovery is lost, I don’t see much point in it. It’ll be another - gorgeously looking - separate game mode nobody asked for.
The DLC is free, and I’m sure I’ll have some fun playing it. I’m not complaining for the sake of it, just pointing out what I look forward in a VT DLC: new stories and locations in the warhammer world, with our beloved vermintide characters. I really appreciate the Lonher’s journals, and I’m quite hyped by the CW’story: “Salzpyre’s mad heretical hope in a fabled fortress in the chaos wastes!” what’s there not to like? But now a bit of pessimism has set in, I really, really hope it’ll come to fruition, and not just be - like the weaves - an empty premise for an inconclusive game mode I frankly am quite indifferent towards.
I don’t really want to revisit this “no new enemies” issue, but at this point I’d like to bring it up again, since “new enemies” and be it just new models that function fundamentally identically to existing enemies contribute greatly to immersion in my opinion. For me, this was already critical with regard to the Weaves, but that is not the topic here. Even though this is primarily about maps in your post, perhaps small adjustments to the enemy’s optics should be considered in the future. I also enjoy exploring new places, but unfortunately most of the time you see rats and half rotten Northlanders on the monitor.
Unfortunately, the screenshots we can see so far also look very familiar to me… I really hope that the new locations feel fresh and different and don’t have the “weave effect”.
I’m already skeptical - since the announcement “new game mode” - what the result will be in the end… and the sentence:
“Though the conditions of the pilgrimage mean the Ubersreik Five must venture north with little more than makeshift weapons and their own innate skills, they will not want for weapons.”
is what worries me the most… I know that it is part of a Rogue Lite game to collect better equipment over the course, however, I see this rather critical for the flow of the game… I’ve also spoken out more often here in the crafting rework threads against weapon levels in the base game and such great deeds like Back to Basics because it’s just absolutely frustrating for me (in Vermintide at least), when the breakpoints are constantly changing… but well, let’s see what comes. On to a new round of FatShark testing new features.
Good point. I hope the new items acquisition will be fast, or waiting is gonna be quite annoying. Plus, maybe it will make fatshark finally realize something we’ve been saying for a while: the current thp iteration is annoying. Fancy heading out with thp on stagger?
I hope they’ll finally merge the main thp options (kills, cleave, stagger) into one. They really depend too much on the weapon.
Said it once, will say it again, Chaos Demons are generally not present in the wastes, you are thinking of the Realms of Chaos, the wastes are just mean Norway. Unless there is an extreme fluctuation in the winds of magic, or a powerful sorcerer(s) demons cant even manifest themselves inside of the Wastes.
Demonstrably false.
The chaos wastes are the northern and southern poles.
Norsca is the peninsula that makes up Norway and Sweden and partially Finland.
The chaos wastes are so close to the chaos gates that the chaos energies warp and fill the entire continent; it’s functionally an extention of the chaos realms themselves.
Daemons do and will form in the chaos wastes due to the thick concentration of chaos energy.
False go read lore literally once.
