New SUPPORT character idea!

I was thinking of a character that was like a combination of the medicae servitor and the tech priest and about half the size of a standard height veteran.

This characters active passives would be that they can latch on to an ally (Like ride on their back or shoulder) and a 30% movement speed bonus when not latched to an ally . This characters Power is gaining third person view and soul siphoning up to 4 enemies dealing moderate damage and damage over time (DoT). This ability when latched to an Ally would heal them for 25 % of their maximum health and replenish 35% toughness; but when not latched onto an ally will instead apply these affects to itself.

This would add a more support healer aspect to this character. Its other passives would be a 10% Trauma reduction and that attacks cannot penetrate toughness (when there is toughness of). Now onto the grenade, it would be a beam thats single target and will deal DoT and restore 2% toughness to itself and anny ally it’s attached to for every tick. Now that we have the passives, ability, somewhat of the looks, we will move on to the weapons.

This character is a mostly ranged character and would have mostly ranged weapons like pistols and two new weapon classes. These new weapons types would be a soul lantern and a totem. There will be 3 types of lanterns, (and more to come if you guys or fatshark have any ideas) the first would be a healing one thats primary fire would be small thorns (kinda like sister of Thorns staff in vermintide) that deal moderate damage and can be charged up for more damage. It’s alternate fire would be a healing orb that you target an Ally with and heals them for 3 - 5% health depending on the charge. This weapon charges by dealing damage shown by a bar on the HUD where your health is.

Next lantern would be a AoE high stagger weapon. It’s primary fire would be a small blast that expels small flames on impact that deals small amounts of damage, but it’s secondary fire would be a charged up blast that deals high stagger capable of stunning normal sized specials (Ogryn enemy’s cannot be stunned by this.)

The last lantern would be a damage buff one thats primary fire would be a flame that shoots until you run out of fuel (bar shown above your health) which will deal small amounts of damage until which you must wait until it charges back. It’s alternate fire would be a charged up chained attack that would shoot a projectile that targets allies and grant them 10% power for 3 seconds (this cannot stack.)

Now to the Totems, there will be a healing one that shoots small orbs like that psyker but dealing less damage and it’s alternate fire would be a instant heal that does 15% healing to an targeted ally and restores 15% toughness but has 1 ammo and recharges over time.

The next one would be a shadow totem that shoots small needles dealing moderate DoT. It’s secondary attack would be a shadow smoke bomb that has a large area of affect and deals DoT as well.

The last totem would be a movement speed totem. This totem would shoot a fast shot of shadow energy as a primary fire and it’s secondary would be a charged up speed boost to all nearby allies in an area around the player. Up to a 10 - 20% speed boost can be achieved through charging it up.

It’s melee weapons would be small knives and needles that would be fast but wouldn’t deal the most damage due to this character being more support and it being a more ranged character.

Now the better one is made by RaNdOmKiLs666/Morbious, it’s not balanced but it show a lot of structure to it, talents you can leave out as it’s very difficult to really make 3*6 of them that are balanced, workable, and interesting.

Now also here we have a new archetype (as it would need a new body type, Small)

But for the Classe abilities it would structure like that:

Iconic:

  • “Name here”: Class_Name is able to latch on ally, granting allies 30% movement bonus and entering “Latched” mode
  • “Latched”: Enter 3rd person View, gaining third person view and soul siphoning up to 4 enemies dealing moderate damage and damage over time (DoT).

Blitz (Or ability ? Not sure what it’s supposed to be): “Soul Syphon”

  • This ability when latched to an Ally would heal them for 25 % of their maximum health and replenish 35% toughness; but when not latched onto an ally will instead apply these affects to itself.

Blitz: Single Target Beam dealing DoT and restoring toughness via Soul Syphon


As for the new weapons, there are going to always only 2 class of weapons, Melee and Ranged, all weapon need to fall in that type of category.

Taking your examples:

So Ranged slot, either working like the Psyker, though seeing how the game is balanced, I don’t think we’d see a weapon with proper healing capability. Other wise, either a Staff, or a Relic

So Ranged slot, would work quite well like the Flamer staff, short range Psyker staff.

Ranged Slot, could work on the primary, but the secondary would either be very strong or very weak.

Those sound more like abilities than weapon, maybe having the ability being about the totems, and talents being able to switch them up.

Weapon if possible should try to have a shared amount/overlap.


Tbh, this class isn’t really something I’d enjoy playing, or playing with. The Latch part doesn’t really sound like something that would be very useful, and the healing capability doesn’t go with the way the game is balanced

As for the weapon, certain of them could fall on the Psyker, or on a Sister archetype/classe with Act of Faith, while other doesn’t really work as weapon. But could as either Ability, Blitz or useable (Like the Medkit and the Ammo boxes)

These are very great ideas! And also the main ability targets up to 4 nearby enemies and attaches beams to the enemies dealing DoT and healing the ally it’s attached to and itself. And also I was thinking that this could be like a psyker subclass I guess rather than a whole different character. Of course if it is it will change to be more psyker powers than shadows and the other ones I mentioned.
