I think High Elf would be the easiest to add. White Lion, Swardmaster, and Archmage would be my vote.
As a former Lizardmen player I’d love to see a Skink added.
Skink Skirmisher for starting class. Variety of weapons.
Skink Chamelion for second class. Primarily ranged, can stealth.
Skink Priest for third class. Caster.
Apparently they’ve already said they want to add another. I kinda hope they treat it as a ‘challenge to unlock’ type, where you have to do something difficult to get it. Make it feel like something to earn and what not, yanno? Not another DLC kinda thing.
Already looking into it, some one told me they said it during the live stream so I’m trying to look that up. It’d make sense though that they’d want to add additional characters. Just look at how big the Taal’s Horn is, and how many places have doors you can’t open.
There is little reason to have new playable characters in vermintide 2. As an example they already stated marketing as a problem in vermintide 1 when it comes to adding new characters (showing the main cast but not other characters added later), and they successfully prolonged vermintide 1 with map packs and weapons and whatnot. They will probably do the same in vermintide 2. It’s much more likely that we will get 3 new careers instead. Personally, I want a dwarf engineer with a turret and grenades.
However: vermintide 3 cannot be done without an entirely new cast. You probably cannot add any more careers without it being an asspull, such as turning Sienna into a wizard of a different order or making a white lion Kerillian.
If we take Sienna as an example, you could still include her in the new game with her current careers, while adding more heroes in addition to the current ones. Adding new careers for Sienna while remaining a bright wizard would be close to impossible because there simply aren’t enough imaginable bright wizard career choices. Another problem is that if you do not give any new stuff to Sienna, the same must apply to the other old (vermintide 1 and 2) characters of the new game or it’s unfair, so you would only get new careers and stuff for the new heroes added on top of the current ones.
So in vermintide 3 you either get more heroes in addition to the current cast and current careers, or you replace the current cast.
I’m leaning towards replacement, because if you had 10 heroes then what is the difference between them? Outside of talents and special skills, combat would play too similarly between them.
The smartest thing to do in vermintide 3 is probably to add an entirely new, new world expansion like total war warhammer 2. You could have a lizardman, high elf, maybe some sort of empire colonist knight of the blazing sun and something else, fighting against dark elves and skaven and maybe undead pirates. As an added bonus you get jungle, desert and elven/lizardman city scenery which we have not seen.
White lion kerillian, white lions are male only same way as maiden guard are female only.
Problem with extra careers is that theyll need to be balanced perfectly or theyll fu** up 1 of 3 archetypes.
If you suddenly have 2 melee dps/ranged dps/tanks archetypes then one of them will be worse than the other and not played at all.
On the other hand if you introduce new character and its essentially same as previous character, np, now you can bring 2 of same thing into match.
Well I can answer with: Warframe And sure, Warframe has the benefit of each ‘class’ using 4 active skills not just one but if FS put some more thought into passives and talents (which atm I feel are a bit uninspired) Im sure they could differentiate well enough between characters.
Really, just…really with the “(Art) Showing the main cast but not other characters added later” as a reason why NOT to add more playable characters. That’s a bullocks reason and every one knows it. That’s like saying “Street fighter wont have unlockable or hidden characters cause they aren’t on the box art” Vermintide 2 doesn’t even have a playable character ON the box art!
And if this thread is anything to go off of, ALOT of people want additional characters added to the game.
Well, theres one good reason why they might not add any new characters to the game. It simply might be too time / resource consuming for a studio as small as theirs to be anywhere near cost efficient.
Yeah, no Skaven character. There are no such thing as friendly Skaven in Warhammer, and those that exceptionally make pacts with people eventually betray them.
Where does it say only men can be white lions? All i’ve found is stuff referring to them as he, and saying their axes are usually passed down from father to son.
Considering the state of GW/BL, and the time of original conception, it makes sense that they’d refer to nearly everything as he/him, unless it’s explicitly stated to be female only, like Witch Elves/Handmaidens.
I see no reason why a female elf couldn’t become a White lion, since there is very little, if any, sexual dimorphism.
Considering that white lions were originally woodcutters, they are all male guard for phoenix king same way as maiden guard is all female guard for everqueen.
Im not only talking money. Im talking time and resources. You need to decide on a character and his/her careers, then get an OK from GW (which may require several iterations before its accepted). Next you need to make meshes, textures and effects for the character and every weapon he /she will use (plus extra skins for illusions and reds), you need to rig everything, do mocap and animation work, you need to make VO for the character and bring back people who did VO for previous characters to record additional lines. While all of this is going on theres just as much work to do designing and balancing skills, passives and talents for the 3 careers. Id say they could release several new maps in time it would take them to make 1 character.
