New class mechanicus

Just an idea. i didn’t like how Vermintide never added a new class but instead opted for variants of the current classes.

new class idea, something from the mechanics. I’m not sure what their lowest rank initiates are, maybe Tech acolyta

things they could do - break yellow boss shields, make interactive mini games faster and easier

  • Perhaps have placeable mines and turrets.

I’m sure it would be easy enough to come up with 3 variants with a bit more thought, just fought 1 special than the twins and a 4th special in a row. so I’m not happy with shields atm.

vermintide 2 had 5 characters and 15(20) classes, 3(4) for each character, with each own their tree

darktide has 4 characters 4 classes and 4 trees

Depend on what you mean by 4 characters.

21 Personalities, 4 classes (archetypes), with trees that embody 3 careers

fine then, 12 personalities, 4 classes, 4 talent trees with 12 branches

vs 5 personalities, 20 classes, 20 talent trees, and each classes has their own skins on top of just talent changes and a couple of specialized weapons

The current talent trees are just the different “sub classes” stapled into one. So it’s more like 4 trees with 3 subclasses each.
Ogryn is a good example of this, the gunlugger class was datamined like 2 years ago.

And unsurprisingly many of the skills were in the original skilltree we got in patch 13.

Like you see the 1st versions of reloaded & ready and steady grip here before they got buffs, even the aura on this is just Cowards Culling before fatshark buffed with this recent rework.

I don’t know why is part of the new class post… but also having trees makes each class talent combinations wildly more variable than the refined 3 choice of VT2 classes (that also had nice built in boons) Balance is also numerically much more challenging with trees.

If it were a direct comparison you could pick Kerillian and mix and match her 3 classes into 1 with a tree.

This is a popular sentiment many expect the 5th to be a Mechanicus, except the deep Mechanicus main Lore fans.

Here was my attempt [New Class] Tech Priest - Warhammer 40,000: Darktide / General Discussion - Fatshark Forums

Most Admech fans here have posted ways to make it work, it’s just that it can’t be a Tech Priest or a Skitarii, but a Tech Adept, or some Adseculari/Duluz or equivalent would be much more suitable as a starting position.

With some cosmetics that are inspired/adapted from the Skitarii and some Tech Priest art or miniature.

Thats true I should find a term to differentiate from the “No” to everything lore people, the comprises are good.

Darktide feels very much ready for a new Class at this point as the next step.

Warhammer Skulls is in a few weeks, maybe Fatshark pulled some people of their new project and went hard on a new DT Class and it will be announced at Skulls :face_with_tongue:

I hope they drop a new class this year, Tech Adept would be the perfect choice.

No idea how this forum manages to be more annoying than the steam forums full of jester farmers. It’s kinda impressive.

I get some people militantly refuse to have a new Class until the fomo shop gets an overhaul and solo mode is there for the 10% of people who want it, but eh. Just do both. Content alongside improvements, literally how it’s been done for the last 2.5 years.

imo the a single skilltree in DT does not provide as much gameplay variety as 4 career skilllines in V2 not even close

most careers in V2 allow for ~2 ish builds that are decent and somewhat different from each other, just by picking different talents, admittedly not always the case some careers are stuck with one main talent route.

In DT you only have the choice to pick a node or not and if you don’t, you may take a node from another “career” but you don’t get much variety within the “career” itself. Variety comes from creating a hybrid.

… idk the stagger talents all the same the ability talents kinda of like our ability modifier nodes… may have to do a math comparison… =p

what happens when you dont allow yourself to pick nodes from a different “career”, put everything in one side of the tree, how much impactful choices can you make?

if we equate V2s careers to one branch of the DT skill trees, its not comparable imo

Yes but if each passive choice is compared to V2s Career choices I’d wager the options are more in DT2s Favor even with 4 classes to 3 tree branches and probably overlapping choices that wouldn’t count.

I get a strong sense from the community that the game has huge potential to grow, and people keep encouraging (or pushing) the devs to take the content to the next level — honestly, it’d be a shame to waste such an amazing opportunity

This game got mega cooked by a horrendous launch and the years to fix all its issues unfortunately.

There’s a few opportunities for it to pop off still. A Mechanicus Class could be hype asf and boost the game a ton if the marketing is done right. A new enemy faction could be received very well. A fully fleshed out Chaos Wastes mode could get people to play and stick around. And lastly launching this game on Switch 2 as the last major console release.

I have never been impressed with fatsharks marketing for the updates they have done to the game so far, so I do wonder I they even have it in them to build a good level of hype for a mechanicus class.

what was laughable was the wording, not the content, as if a game would need to feels very much ready for a new Class for devs to start printing content for the game

game has been out for what, 3 years? and the closest thing we got to a new class was patch 13 that mended the lack of it

that is why all your (plural) statements sound so redicolous to my pov, like this one

guys talks like this game was still in beta, why shouldn’t i have a laugh at it?

You aren’t beating the allegation.

What I mean by feels very much ready is that they have run through all the other content and people want something major. I’ve been seeing this on all the DT forums where people aren’t really complaining about the major issues this game had anymore as their most vocal thing, but asking for something big, this thread being an example.

This game has been out 2.5 years, a handful of weapons and a map ain’t going to placate people like it once did, and there is no major fundamental issue like crafting that should be addressed first.
