[New Class] Tech Priest

So it’s more of a conscript forcefully becoming a tech priest or Skitarii not sure what exact name should be Adept? or Aspirant? Servitor, Skitarri or Tech Priest…ect

or

Our new rejects get caught up rescuing Zola from a heretical assault before being fully experimented and enhanced by Hadron and Kayex in creating an aspiring Tech Priest / Skitarii warrior. Equipped with 1 Mechandendrite and experimental enhancements.

Hadron & Kayex may fuss over which way to modify their new subject. Massive new dialog stems /contrast / fun from Mechanicus characters.

Best to introduce when Fatshark introduces new villian & enemies of Dark Mechanicus who are responsible for mechanical daemons we’ve been fighting.

Example Ideas of what class could be. Acutal talent trees, abilities, Weapon, actual terminologies and ect… best perfected by lore fanatics.

Passives:

Manual Interrogation: Mechadendrite jacks into mini games auto-completing at added time but allows Tech Priest to engage in combat while interfacing. Moving from console or dying will cancel the process.

Defensive Protocols: Mechadendrite defends the tech priest blocking and dealing damage when attacked in melee once every 10s, continues while body is pinned, able to detach hounds but bound by nets.

Extra Limb: Weapon swap speeds increased by 50%

Would you like Tech Priest or other Adeptus Mechanicus as 5th character or something else?

  • Ratling

Admech and Sister would be my picks, but those proposed ideas are really not something that I would find interesting.

Best way to introduce something akin to the Admech Reject would be to have it lean on thr True Moebian steel, have the Inquisition trade it for local Admech weapons that would then be issued to Reject that are already loyal to the Admech.

Ratling is dead and buried but even before that they had not much potential anyway.

As for the need or not for new archetype.

Realistically they aren’t needed, would it be fun sure, but there still nothing pointing to it ever happening (due to the strain needed for a new arche).

Classes would be great too, growing from 3, to 4 or even better 5 branches, and would be less work than 2 new Archetypes.

Would like Sisters of Battle too but the theme is too closely related to Zealot. Well what class skills would you have for Admech?

I’m sure new classes could have a totally unique introduction too just seemed to fit better with current tutorial.

Growing the branches also passed my mind but with each addition cross over becomes harder its already a strain to go from left to right without a wrap around option… unless they switch up talent system more akin to Vermintide 2 key choices.

Can I have both? :face_holding_back_tears:

They have to give us more slots but yes eventually could have a crazy amount of operative variety working for the inquisition. They could raise our rejects to hero status and introduce space marines for all i know and bigger baddie enemies.

A mechanicus type class would be cool to have in game but the problem is always lore, and how the cutscenes/vox chats are like. The background for a character like that would be very contrived. Or all of the cutscenes would need to be redone along with a lot of voice lines. One probably wouldnt get approved by GW and the other would take way too much work to expect any time soon (maybe in like 2+ years).

Ultimatly it wouldn’t make any sense for any sort of “reject” type character to get serious mechanicus enhancements. They would just grab a tech adept and turn them into a skitarii, or maybe turn a reject into something like a arco-flagellant.

Also yes the dark mechanicum is obviously in the sector. Saying that is like saying the mechanicus is in the sector. Turning to chaos doesn’t make you suddenly know how to make your own ammo or maintain a Valkyrie, yeah there are dark mechanicus priests working in the background making and maintaining stuff. But I dont see any reason for the dark mechanicus to field a actual combat force, unless FS decided to put some sort of mecha macguffin on the planet that the dark mechanicus wants, but that would also change the current story a lot.

I would t expect it soon and already have tech priest on board just not playable versions. The chaos daemons in game are strangely mechanical and story vague to allow such plot lines. The cutscenes are laughable “I don’t trust you, prove your worth, don’t be a traitor” don’t see why a mechanical player character would suddenly not fit…especially with a new plot line of chaos mechanics.

We also have already converted one convict traitor into our cosmetic shop vendor for the cheap skins a battle servitor class wound not be far off.

A mechanicus character wouldn’t answer to either of the two lower ranking inquisitor characters, they would basically only answer to the mechanicus characters so they would at least need to redo those cut scenes. Adding a class like this would probably require making a new intro mission as well.

Yeah again dark mechanicus are part of any heretic uprising, the tech priests and enginseers that worked with the mobian 6th probably also went heretic. This isn’t something to speculate about this is a obvious fact.

But that doesnt mean there is a actual dark mechanicus army on the planet, just a few heretic tech priests/adepts, not enough to actually make any enemies. Maybe a heretic tech priest boss fight for an assassination mission.

If a dark mechanicus battle force decided to show up then that would completely change the current story. Unless FS plans on completely redoing the way we do missions and going back to a chronologic campaign tree like in vermintide, then I dont see that happening.

Your such a buzz kill, try making excuses for what could be and not so focused on what can’t be.

It’s true that Lorewise, a ‘Tech Priest’ doesn’t work, but it doesn’t need to be a Tech Priest, could be much lower in the importance ladder, like Tech Adepts (could work), Skitarii (would not), Tech Serf (could), Technica Guilders (could, would be the easiest to match well with the current set).

Having it be Civilians that are under the employ of the Admech but aren’t truly Admech would be the easiest, as it would just later on require accessing Admech weaponry (which would be issued to them cause they’re able to learn the maintenance rites much more easily), which could be explained with the True Moebian steel being traded in for it.

Also Dark Mechanicum ≈ Admech that turned to Chaos (somewhat same thing as pointing to the Dreg, and calling them Death Guard cultist)

You must be new here. There’s always one in every single admech thread. wElL ThE LOrE sAyS…

As if 40k lore is always consistent across the brand.

Just takes more effort than “lore experts” are willing to use their brain for instead of just slapping it down out of hand.

I mean you can make anything work if you massivlely re write the darktide story. But as is the darktide story just doesn’t support the idea, not that it’s impossible to fit in, just that it would feel very contrived.

I can think of a million excuses to have a mechanicus style character in the game, but it either doesn’t make sense in lore or requires a large rewrite of cut scenes and dialogue.

It would make more sense to be a thing in darktide 2 or some sort of massive expansion and overhaul of the games entire story and missions.
