I’m really not digging the level of antagonism coming up in this thread. Some of us are trying to have a game balance discussion and the sarcasm and straw men do nothing to serve the purpose of this discussion.
I think Mainman brings up reasonable points and includes their own perspective and if you want to engage on that with your perspective that’s great, but leaping to these extreme interpretations and becoming incensed is not helping.
What that user is saying and what you seem to think they are saying are not at all aligned. We should all be reading carefully and responding with respect.
At the very least the power/impact should be reflected more in the chance to get one if nerfing them is out of the question.
This is like saying don’t play the game mode at all. Not everyone is skilled enough to do full bot runs in cataclysym or lower difficulties, or for the matter have friends to play the mode at certain times you are online etc.
There could be countless of reasons you have to pub to play this game and in this instance you will have 0 control on how the mode will play out.
This is a discussion forum and even outlandish ideas should have a place here. Even if you personally heavily disagree with everything that has been said does not mean we cannot suggest stuff that we personally think would make the game mode more interesting.
Your fun is not my fun.
My friends and I enjoy finding new ways to delete mobs.
And yeah; I got pulled back in because people kept replying to me, and most of them (except for you and Lenny) have had proper arguments instead of insults and personal attacks.
When your arguments were literally " If you dont like dont do it but lets others do it" So if I will FF you and down you all time its ok? By your logic it is because its his fun and he have op boon that make cata equivalent to champion.
EA would love you as customer, most of their predatory microtransaction is based on instant gratification.
Balanced game when everyone is giving something to game is better for players and game than short term I win button.
The combination of slapping back to basics on the first map or two, and a single person getting just one of these boons made me so fed up with the feast-or-famine way of playing in chaos wastes that once id got the cata frames I wanted I never been back, even in a pre made or Incursion.
The argument that ‘if you don’t like it don’t play it’ has been around for ever and never really works. I can remember when Wigglemancer got regularly kicked from games for wrecking the game for everyone else so although chaos wastes is intended to be imbalanced, probably not at the expense of the majority of the player base and eventually thing will get pulled in line either by adding far more boobs* and diluting the frequency of the BIG THREE or by nerfing those ones specifically.
If we’re keeping massively op stuff because a select few enjoy it can I have the machine gun huntsman back please.
If you really enjoy the boobs* this way, have some fun while it lasts!
[Edit] *should say boons but I left the autocorrect typos in for the lulz.
Small derailment maybe but does anyone have issues with the Jade Censor dupe strategy? I had 2 people get the dupe trait (not sure if its unique as a boon) and our Cataclysm Citadel run was basically won.
Im not one to turn up my nose at an easy win but its strategies like these that make the game all but unlosable if you have even the most minor coordination with your team. Literally all you have to do is ask your duping member to hold on to a jade censor and start duping on at the start and end of every level for maximum mileage and allow your safest member (RV for example) to hold on to the extra Censor so he can place it with the most safety.
Having a team place 3 censors and stand in a Khorne tornado while being gassed by a globadier is a reality i didnt think possible.
Is team killing ok if I find it fun? Their fun is not my fun after all.
You are not “finding” anything. You pick certain boons literally every time, because it breaks the entire game mode whenever they are found. Nobody is arguing against a combination of boons potentially creating a powerful build.
My only “insult” is calling your take a brainlet one (which it objectively is). Everything else i’ve posted, has been a “proper argument” as you call it.
The problem here is that you constantly poke holes in your own arguments and seem incapable of seeing your own hypocrisy, even when spelled out.
The game should be enjoyable for everyone. You do that by making it fun for the greatest number of people, which I dare claim is when everyone can participate.
I am not saying that there shouldn’t be powerful runs, nor do I think that people who want them should be screwed.
We have boons distinguished by certain rarity, most likely based on expected value they can create. And we have these boons like Manann’s Tempest which obviously offers far more value then most of the other boons in same rarity. It’s reasonable to let them have their own rarity because they do not belong in Unique.
I am glad that you and your friends enjoyed your CW experiences. I did too, during first few weeks. As I played it more however, I realized that more than half of the runs end up with one of the party members becoming an icon of destruction and the rest becoming spectators. V2 is a 4-player coop game, yet some of the boons diminishes the coop part because with those you don’t need cooperation. Those boons could be refreshing if they were rare enough, but they are not. Once you get used to that powerful first impression of overtuned boons, and trust me, you soon will because they will appear in too many of your runs, they become no more than cheesy options for gauranteed success.
I wish people have better gaming experience playing V2, because I want people to keep playing this game so that I can play it with them. I contribute to this forum for that sole purpose, so I would appreciate if you don’t misunderstand me.
Jade censor dupe was great when I first thought to try it, and maybe the second time too, but it (somewhat unsurprisingly) falls into the EXACT SAME trap of one-boon-is-a-great-build.
The dupe boon is random, but the jade censor is not. As far as I can tell if you get dupe you can always get censor in every run too if you want to. Thus jade censor + dupe isn’t really a build at all, it’s just a boon and a consumable in a trench coat.
BUILDS SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE POWERFUL
But if you don’t have to create a build to be powerful it’s a bit daft.
You mean Ranger Veteren and Morgrims bomb right? If you do, yes RV with Morgrims is amazing but somehow they always get comet boon. I think the game will lead some classes naturally towards certain boons. I always get twin arrow on Huntsman Kruber.
I only get twin arrows when I use a staff that doesn’t use projectiles as their main firemode. Then, when I pick a random ranged, the first one I get is always beam.
I don’t think there’s any system behind it.
Also, what is it with everyone constantly feeding the troll?
