#LetUsPaint

Heya! I’ve seen a couple messages saying y’all haven’t seen me. Thanks for noticing! I was taking a few days off because it had been awhile (and everyone needs a breather!). I’m unsure if I should’ve let y’all know :joy: Maybe I should have!

I am continuing to press on the polling feature. As mentioned, we can’t simply use the launcher, because that doesn’t hit all the players. It’d only be Steam/PC players. We need to work on getting something together for all our platforms.

We’re currently working on getting this next update together for y’all. More information on that coming v soon.

Everyone’s prone to panic now because out of Darktide’s CMs…

Hedge: fired/quit without telling us, now listed as former
Aqshy: did actually retire and is still around under a new name
Septicemia: nuked goodwill from orbit last year and was fired/quit
Catfish: Still employed? Apparently? Hasn’t said anything for like a year and either was absorbed by the Management Conglomerate that drives 90% of bad decisions in Fatshark or quit without telling us?

So yeah like 50/50 odds they actually tell us if someone vanishing is a permanent dealio. Ergo, the forum starts wondering if it’s the start of the radio silence that inevitably leads to a CM quitting or just…vanishing into the ether.

Not saying you need to tell us when you’re going on vacation or whatever, we’re not that deep into a parasocial relationship, but the speculation crops up fast now lol

is that even necessary though?

I admit, I am the one driving this to say it’s an issue here, but it has been brought up time and time and time again? I feel like this is an in your face kind of pain point in the same way that crafting was?

We bring it up not because we want you guys to rebuild the game from the ground up and do ridiculous amounts of work to satisfy an insatiable audience, but because we want the game to be amazing.

It’s really a question of what you guys want your end game to be and making sure it’s something long lasting that everyone is happy about. The gameplay loop, penances and cosmetics are what you guys should consider your end game. Right now you’re failing on the cosmetics side of things. You can read the feedback for the last cosmetics drop if you want proof, people aren’t happy. They’ve never liked the fomo shop from the beginning. It’s a feature that is tolerated by most as a modern day evil. It doesn’t have to be that way, people want to pay you guys, they just want there to be value.

Kit bashing is part of the core of what makes Warhammer so fun. Right now we can kit bash, sort of, but there is no way to make it all match unless you run for the drip, which consoles cannot and no one else can see.

Too few…

And you cannot take that into account. It’s not because Games Workshop makes most of its revenue from selling paints that we should be able to paint.

Really, I’m certain that GW would be upset if someone painted their army in a color not consistent with the lore. I have absolutely no doubt about it. Look at SM2 or the serie Down of war… And you will see that I cannot be wrong.

(Disclaimer: This entire post is totally ironic.)

maybe

imagine a polling feature where they ask:

Aquila obtainable in-game by playing the game (downside may be premium skins costing higher)

  • Yes (98%)
  • No (2%)

:smiling_imp:
for now premium skins just are a bit too overpriced…
if we could get aquila as obtainable currency, i feel like many players would grind for it but also buying it on the store as mtx cause happy of the change. being a win win for everyone.

also even though it seems crazy as thing, it is actually a normal thing that live service games do, for example dead by daylight where you can farm currency to buy in-game characters/premium skins along with the actual digital mtx currency where players can directly buy to support the company.

My god a cm in a thread asking for a better system for premium cosmetics.

This was 2 years in the making. Are we back rejects

i mean its obvious filibustering, trying to stretch the time out til they have to actually do something.

Sorry to strawhat, but a poll to “hey do you wanna pay for recolours or not” c’mon …

I respect the effort and think it would be good. Building polls into the launcher is going to give them way clearer and more unbiased data than social media polls.
of course, the problem that would arise is that they themselves are then in charge of choosing what to have polls about. That’s the caveat

Launcher would be much quicker than what they plan. If I understood her correctly they want a polling feature in-game in order to get feedback from console players as well.

Ok… we will see polls in 2027…

I’ve got a lot of faith in fatshark. They’re slow to move, yes. But they have been heading in the right direction on darktide… This isn’t to say they always were, but the game is in a much better spot than release imo.

True Warhammer fans know the franchise started with miniature painting enthusiasts.

i have very little faith that we will be able to recolor ever. They’ve already sold recolored skins of stuff, how are they going to reimburse that?

Also with the increasing prices on skins obviously they’re pumping that cow hard they’re super stubborn and don’t realize they could just nickel and dime us on colors but w/e idk man.

whoever they’re partnered with for monetization is probably a customer engagement tumor but probably makes them a decent chunk of change, and money is the motivator not our enjoyment. A bad system that makes money will stay as long as we all play, thats the only reason crafting ever changed, cuz there was such a loud vocal opposition against it for ever.

People still pay for cosmetics so there will be no changes.

Imagine that nice new cool steam punk backpack, now imagine it matching the rest of your theme. The potential is there.
