Arrested under the suspicion of having killed the son of the burgomeister of Ubersreik, and burning down his mill, she is now in the custody of Victor Saltzpyre, a veteran witch hunter. Saltzpyre has hired a skilled and experienced state trooper, Markus Kruber, to assist him in escorting the dangerous bright wizard to Ubersreik. Sienna returns to the town as a prisoner, ready to stand trial for a heinous crime, at least in the eyes of the magistrates.
Genevieve DieudonnĂŠ
Saving the life of the Emperor meant that Genevieve was created a Heroine of the Empire.
She was grudgingly allowed to take up public residence in Altdorf. Unsurprisingly, this did not impress many of the locals, including the priests of Morr, but attempts to have her un-life ended, ranging from political machinations to a mobâs public lynching, failed.
Victor Salzpyre
In Victorâs eyes, the ends justify the means, and he is ultimately willing to fight alongside anyone as long as they are not apparent enemies of Sigmar and the Empire.
I donât think Viktor wonât allow her in the party but I think he will talk to her even worse than he did to Sienna in V1. A bit like Siennaâs and Victorâs relationship in V1, we wonât know if he might give her the dagger when she ceased to be of use. And who would protest? I mean it would be heresy.
Adding âgood vampireâ to the lore was a mistake to brgin with. Whatâs next? Empathetic chaos spawn named Ralph, travelling the Empjre to become a veterinarian? Ph, yeah, I know what was next - the end of the world. First you have a vampire whp goes around saving Emperor , and then you find yourself in the Age of Sigmar and you donât even know when it happened.
In WHFRPG Witch Hunters cut it as the âgood guysâ, yet they generally torture people and burn them alive.
Good is subjective.
But I like it when things are simple - Skaven, Chaos, Vampires/Undead, Elves, Orks are all evil and deserve to be eradicated from the face of the Old World. No dillemas. Yes, I know this means that this universe is quite binary here, but thatâs part of it. And now, all of the sudden we have ONE exception in the form of some odd gal. If GW was really concerned with adding different shades, there would be more cases like that. But since itâs the only one - it sounds like an awful cash grab.
Not to try and stoke the fire because I totally see your point, but:
So is Evil. Whatâs more, Warhammer is a hilariously funny universe because the Empire is the most damaged, wasteful, and corrupt form of high civilization in existence (mostly in the 40K timeline, but if WHF too). Thatâs the satire of the Empire: humanity blows and views itself as the best thing ever
This being said: only in the Empireâs eyes are things this clear-cut. I mean, Olâ Saltzy was dead set on executing Sienna because she was evil, yet in VT2 they work it out. Kerillian goes against her whole moral compass siding with those dirty, dirty humans, but itâs for a good cause. I think the vampire could make sense: if the End-Times roll around, itâs not just the mortals thatâll suffer for it.
In the whf rpg core book, 1st ed., there were 5 alignments, Chaos, Evil, Neutral, Good, Law.
Humans and dwarves could be any of them, elf only law or good.
From the book:
Law: lawful characters see themselves and everything around them as part of a very definite and rigid cosmic order. In the ideal Lawful universe there would be no ageing, no decay and no death, everything would exist in a state of harmonious perfection or stasis. Decay, death and all forms of disorder are created by the forces of anti-law, or Chaos. Consequently Law and Chaos are in constant opposition.
Good: good characters are concerned with natural well-being. They believe in social hierarchy, responsibility, helping others, and settling all conflict by peaceful means if possible. Good characters are opposed to all destruction, suffering and cruelty. Unlike Lawful characters, who will often pursue an evil-order to the bitter end, Good characters can be forgiving.
Neutral: Most players prefer to play Neutral characters, since they have no strong principles except a profound belief in their own best insterest. Neutral characters are not particularly concerned with order and duty, except where these can work to their advantage; likewise they have no real commitment to change an renewal, except where it may help or hinder them. They are wary of extremes in anything. Neutral characters are aware of the traps and follies of the world, but they are more interested in getting by from day to day than in changing or preserving anything.
Evil: evil chrctrs enjoy causing harm and pain. They are entirely ruthless, and prepared to kill even their friends and comrades if they stand to gain by doing so. Law and order mean nothing to them, unless they ca use them to dominate others. Evil characters are often bitter, quick-tempered and resentful of others.
Chaos: chaotics stand for change; they believe that stability leads to stagnation, so that endless destruction and renewal is the only way to progress. They see all form of social behaviour, natural order and physical permanence as a barrier both to themselves and to the Chaos GOds. Chaotics are utterly unpredictable, and they are often mentally unbalanced or psychotic. A Chaotic character can veer wildly between extremes of behaviour, sometimes even appearing to be Lawful or Good for a little while.
well, itâs a speculation thread, and we ended to discuss also about âgoodâ alignment, so reported an âofficial gwâ piece of text about it. I agree that V2 is not directly based on any of the WFRP versions, but we are talking about whf lore and guessing the how and what.
This is the point.
Thereâs the Forces of Order, the Empire, Bretonnia, Dwarfs, High Elves, Wood Elves, and Lizardmen.
Thereâs the Forces of Chaos, the Daemons, Hordes of Chaos, Beastment, Skaven and Chaos Dwarfs.
Thereâs the Forces of Destruction, the Greenskins, Dark Elves, and Ogre Kingdoms.
Finally, thereâs the Forces of Death, Vampire Counts and the Tomb Kings.
Either way, Genevieve DieudonnĂŠ is of the Lahmian bloodline. Even though theyâre evil undead, they have watched over mankind for ages. Theyâve helped them against the Chaos hordes and even against the Von Carsteins of Sylvania. This isnât out of the goodness of their hearts though, they just want humans alive because they need them as blood bags. Theyâve also done some evil shĂŻt as well. But at the end of the day, she saved Karl Franz life and is allowed in the Empire.
Also, from the wiki,
âThe sisterhood secretly protect her; despite her status as a third generation rogue with no place amongst the true Lahmians, she is valued for her ability to influence the minds of mortals into softening towards Vampiresâ
The RPGs are still a major source of lore (no matter the edition, really), and if only because of the general style, Vermintide draws a lot of its stuff from the RPG side rather than the more general lore or the miniature side. Weâve, for example, visited a couple of rather classic RPG adventures in the DLCs⌠So, if thereâs any particular part of the Warhammer Fantasy line Vermintide is based on, Iâd say its the RPG.
Yes I know that. I know very well Warhammer lore and history. My question was about the previous post with alignments from 1ed WFRP. This system is far from what we have in vermintide. I think V1 and 2 are closer to 2ed (maybe 3) and from 2ed. of WFRP there is no alignments to choose for players. Thatâs why I asked whatâs the point?
Like we all know WFRP/B universe is specific but still this is no high/heroic fantasy with orks, goblins, dragons and vampires as playable characters.
And a word about Geneviève. Sheâs still a vampire and no one else except her and maybe her Lahmian sisters know her true motivations. Better beware
We donât really know what Kerillian or Bardin are really up to either. We have our theories⌠And from the most part, it seemed she just wanted to settle down with her human husband until he died. But other things happenedâŚ
