KNOWN ISSUE: Backend Error After Skulls Update, Possibly Impacting All GeForce Now Players

We are aware some players have started experiencing Backend Error after the Skulls (Hestia’s Decollation Crusade) update.

It seems that many of these players are using GeForce Now, but we are not yet able to confirm if this is the case for all players experiencing this newly introduced error.

We are looking in to this, and ask that you please:

  • Tell us whether you’re using GeForce Now
  • If you are not playing on GeForce Now, it would be appreciated if you could share a recent console log with us:
  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide\console_logs
  4. Locate the console log that corresponds with the session in which the issue occurred, by looking at the timestamps in the log names

Since today, May 23rd, 24, I can no longer start Darktide. After the launcher I get the error message “Backend Error”. Restarting the PC, checking data via STEAM and verifying data via Darktide Launcher did not fix the problem. Online connection is OK. Support is welcome.
Greetings

Checked out, Firewall is good. Game is open. But still does’t work! Btw. Defender Firewall Windows 11.

Could you share the URL to your Steam profile with me, please?

Same problem for me. Tried on both steam and Windows store on 2 different PC and I can not connect to both of my game.

Im having the same issue, so Im just gonna add to this thread.
After today’s update, Im getting the Backend error as well.

Im playing on PC over xbox game pass on Nvidia Geforce Now, so I have no access to any logs or settings that are suggested in the common fixes for the Backend error.

Hello. Exactly the sam problem for me too. Since this morning. Restarted internet connection, verified game files but still got the error. I’m playing through Gforce Now but other games work fine.

Are you also playing via GeForce Now similarly to the posters above?

Same issue here. Playing on GeForce Now. I was actually in a game when I got kicked out and ever since am getting backend errors and can’t sign in.

I understand you’re not able to provide logs on GeForce Now, but if you could share your Steam URLs or GamerTags with me, that may be helpful.

@Ilovedarktide are you using GeForce Now?

yes

I am not using Gforce Now. My profile is Steam Community :: N4N15.
For me It was my DNS who was the problem I think. I can connect throught a VPN but not with my normal DNS. I had to change my DNS to 8.8.8.8 google DNS and Quad9 to make it work.

Thanks for the update @n4n15, it’s much appreciated. Would you be able to share a log with us, from one of the sessions before you changed your DNS?

Having same issue all day (5/24). First started around 0100. Launching Darktide through GeForce Now. Every time I launch, I get the “backend Error” error signing in. I have tried 2/3 different GeForce Server locations. US- Northeast, US-East. Same results for both. I own the game in Steam ( Tag: Agmar).

Yes no problem. I revert back my DNS and this is what I get :

Fail to login 3 times then ALT+F4.

If I use google DNS, no problem. I have dones multiple runs OK.
