KNOWN ISSUE: All Missions on difficulty 4 and 5 showing 'Endless Horde' modifier

I don’t mean to argue, but from my experience of roughly 60 hours in the beta and 40 in the closed beta, the result is always the same - pick a Heresy mission with no modifiers- endless horde, go Heresy quickplay - endless horde.

The problem aren’t really the hordes, but the absolute bonkers density of specials and elites. I chain kill two crushers, three ragers, all the while being targeted by two snipers and getting spammed by two bombers, then a mutie or two come into the fray and I can’t even kill them because every time I’m being thrown into a mob of 6-7 maulers, and when I finally clear that crap with all my ammo and grenades I already have another set of specials end elites spawned and going at me. Mind you, this is 100% efficiency- spot special, kill special, smack away trash mobs, take a few hits- kill another special. Gear set to kill crushers in less than 5 seconds in a 1v1 or insta kill with ability use. It’s even more of a nightmare on Pysker, cause my gameplay is sitting on 99% peril, quick venting and never using my ranged or melee, cause of the sheer amount of specials and elites to kill…

I remember the EXACT same situation on VT2 release. Here at least we can’t have SV patrols spawning on our heads for more than a year after release. I really hope this will get fixed, because the other difficulties are boring for me already, and I can’t be bothered to do an hour long run of snail pace with a very real chance of failure. Is it going to be a breeze on level 30? Yes.
But to get to that level 30 I need to grind on difficulties that force me to focus on babysitting my team.

No, I don’t think that’s right. The heresy spawns definitely line up with endless hordes. It’s not just a UI glitch

Same. It’s always a real slog, so if the modifier does not apply, then the difficulty is just borked in terms of spawns.

Just adding my 2 cents here; been playing since the Pre-Order Beta and have done a lot of Heresy difficulty. I’ve done both the default difficulty and the Endless Horde/Hi-Intensity difficulty and they feel pretty much the exact same; the special spawn rate, horde spawn rate, and shooter density are literally identical. I implore you to look deeper into this issue, I’m almost certain it’s really giving us Endless Horde even when we queue without it.

Just as a final note; when you do clear a normal Heresy mission with no modifier, it still gives you the “Special Condition” rewards at the end of the mission. I feel like it wouldn’t do that if it truly was just a little UI error.

Adding my experience here in case it’s useful narrowing in on the issue:

I chose a mission with the low-intensity modifier on Heresy today (patch 1.0.12) and noticed the tactical overlay reflected the low-intensity modifier during the mission, along with a marked decrease in spawn rate for both specials and hordes. This is a counterexample to the tactical overlay showing the endless/hi-intensity on all Heresy missions regardless of actual modifiers.

Lastly I want to note I did try playing a Heresy mission with the less hordes modifier during the open beta and that mission still showed the endless hoards modifier on the tactical overlay and there was no decrease in spawns compared to the 10 or so Heresy missions I’d played in the open beta prior to that.

Just adding my voice as well. Lvl 4 are absurdly hard and managing to finish one doesn’t leave you with a sense of accomplishment but just a very shallow “Eh, we’ve been lucky I guess”.

If you think really that this is just a UI issue then the AI director need to have a tune up because by comparison, playing in legend on vermintide (lvl 4 as well) is light years ahead in term of challenge but fairness.

Hey just wanted to let you know that this is incorrect. It’s not just a UI bug, the high intensity modifier is definitely being applied. It’s easy to tell when you compare the amount of specials on a heresy mission with another modifier, like “Ventilation purge” to a “normal” heresy mission. There are significantly fewer specials on the ventilation purge mission.

So, can we get some info if this is going to stay, since it’s apparently been patched(which it didn’t, just like wit the SV patrols, lol), or is there some further work being done?

please investigate this further. the spawns feel identical regardless of whether the condition was on the map or not. it really feels as if all heresy missions actually have endless horde. I don’t think it’s just a UI bug and others’ experiences support this

“UI bug”, sure.

I agree with the rest of the responses here. I purposely picked a non modified Heresy mission because my friend and I experienced a large amount of elite/specialist spawns in other missions we picked. When we loaded into the mission we immediately got attacked by 3 muties, 2 large ogryn reapers, and some other specials/elites i couldnt even keep count of on account of getting constantly punched and grabbed by the muties that attacked all at once. Please if someone could look into this that would be appreciated.

I was lucky enough to get a Heresy mission with the “Low Intensity” modifier yesterday, and that was fine - Heresy, so had to play smart, but it was fine. Every Heresy mission without the low modifier is insane. So there’s one of two possibilities, either Fatshark are correct and its a UI bug, in which case Heresy missions feel dramatically overtuned, or Fatshark are wrong and every Heresy is getting Endless Hordes unless it has Low Intensity applied. Not sure which of those I prefer tbh!

I would like to adjust my title,
“All Heresy Missions without Modifiers Incorrectly Have Hi-Intensity Enabled”
The bug has not been acknowledged, and I believe it’s an important bug to be addressed. Currently, the jump from Malice to Heresy is far greater a challenge than it should.

They claimed it was just a UI bug, but it definitely feels high intensity.

How is it even possible that after so many reports nobody even opened the game and tried by himself I wonder.

Do you care so little Fatshark?

Dear Dev Team, please re-evaluate this topic as OP suggested. It is - in fact - not an UI bug. The difference in spawn density and intervals is palpable. Either something is off with your regular level 4 spawns or the high intensity modifier is enabled by default (and not overwritten by a different modifier).

@FatsharkQuickpaw Could we get this going? Or at least get a statement, that it’s a “non-issue UI bug” ,so we know if anything is going to be done about this?

I got the joke yesterday.

My first jump from Malice to Heresy, I specifically chose low intensity modifier to get a feel. Then starts the mission and we got endless hordes and so much elites at the same time I couldn’t count at the end. From the first room.

We lasted 5min top, I was surprised to see High intensity modifier when I died and thought to check the mission status.
