Is this legal as far as modding goes?

Ah, no, that part was in reply to Cosmophase, although, frankly, I was taking their post a little too literally.

only one word… “oops”

What makes you think I don’t know this already? So you’ve never changed your mind about anything? The thing is, I don’t exactly buy that either, I’m not sure how adding basic sights would turn the game into CoD but the point is that they didn’t do it. What is this nonsense that if we don’t like something we go mod it into the game then expect other people to respect your decision to use crutches, all the while complaining how the game is too easy. But fine, I’m not extremely against that particular thing, I can live with it, it’s very minor and some people can’t stand iron sights so adding a basic optic can greatly enhance their experience. How about the ones that can zoom? Yes I think they suck, especially at the difficulty most of the people reading this thread play, but that is not a valid argument. I think they suck, another guy might not think so and can use it effectively at lower difficulties. How about the rest of the mods?
What can possibly justify using sh*t that essentially lets you see through walls? What can justify you knowing when certain elites spawn? Is it really the case that every time you get caught unaware by a trapper it was exclusively because of audio issues? If not, what gives you the right to have an additional visual indicator while you have your back turned? That visual indicator will work regardless if that time the audio played correctly or not. I do not require you to answer these questions, just brood upon them.

Edit: And no, I don’t mean that you specifically use the mentioned mods. I can’t know that.

You seem to have divided attention where you need one of your ear muffs from your headset off, because you replied while leaving out the part that already addressed this.

I don’t expect you to read every last thing I type, but at least read the same sentence you reply to.

With such a small statistic (0.36% of users are using mods for legit purposes) I didn’t know if I qualified under legitimate use.

fatshark only cares if the mod itself actively hurts their bottom line or majorly effect gameplay for others.

I know you’re just trolling now (well since before)…but here ya go anyways.

Usage. Hyperbole is often used for emphasis or effect. In casual speech, it functions as an intensifier: saying “the bag weighed a ton” simply means that the bag was extremely heavy. The rhetorical device may be used for serious or ironic or comic effects.

If I’m being honest, if you’re playing distracted or whatever because you have food on the stove, baby crying or whatever, maybe consider not playing in a pug or play pausable single player game. To be clear I don’t consider this a legitimate use.
Hearing issues are legit use, there’s at least 1 other deaf user here and I’m genuinely happy they get to use the accessibility mod the proper way.

and here i am trying to “fallout” my HUD to the lowest common denominator , basic health toughness and my ult and lowest opacity so my oled doesnt burn in eventually.

“custom hud” provides some elements(discontinued sadly and ridden with some bugs now) but all in all there´s still to much unimmersive clutter for my taste.

shame fatshark doesnt provide the basic option to turn things “off”

speaking of spidey sense, saw it once, gave me a seizure figuratively and made me wonder how in the world does this not distract more than it provides.

then again, i got no problem with sound queues, rarely the silent trapper 2cm behind me, but in that scenario, no disco-ball would warn me efficiently about that either

Ugh I gotta send my OLED for burn-in replacement, thanks for reminder and mod tweaks/idea: More OLED friendly UI…

What your issues with custom hud? I’m still using it with NumericUI and haven’t noticed any? Maybe I can be of service here.

P.S. LOL, Dammit people, the word is cues dammit, not queues, dammit!

i will give penance…

to be fair, i understood the problem of the sound being hung up in a queue and due to a large amount of audio bits not getting played in sequence or at all(sometimes all combined in a gibberish “brrrrttzzzzkkk”

aka. the bomber conga line or 12 ragers praising my sweet death in canon.

anyways…

welcome for the reminder, if said replacement offers you a refund, i got myself a

corsair xeneon 27qhd240

and, knock on wood, haven´t seen any issues after roughly 1 1/2 years.

usual game being darktide with the odd fallout new vegas and 4 (with modded visors mind you, meaning part of the screen is a static helmet inlay)

every 8 hours he reminds me of pixel refreshing which i never skipped.

as for the issues:

  • i´d like only the basics of my team displayed on the left without symbols/portrait/bars etc.
all i care about and gets me to act is team mate almost dead = heal or ammo red = shove
    some gunpowder up his backdoor.
so 2 numbers about health(red)ammo(blue) would totally suffice.

  • turn off the ugly, right below my crosshair, stamina bar. technically i don´t need it at all, get a
good feel of when it drained.
and to be honest if i f´up it´d been right in my face and i didn´t react upon it anyways.
up until recently the mod did allow for turning off certain elements, but nexusmods reports
confirm a)resetting frequently and b)being prone to crash.

so all i used it for right now was opacity.

    that leads me to…

  • opacity for crosshair down at least 50%, barely visible would still be more than enough.
i play my singleplayer shooters exclusively without and use iron sights when available for
    immersions sake.
will try my monitor build in crosshair, but to my knowledge i can´t turn opacity down there
    either

  • place the symbol of my ult to the far left and get to tweak the opacity as well.

on the bright side, fatshark added an option to deactivate hitmarkes, i loathe those things.
they scream console

considering i´m writing from work after a rough night and lack of sleep, that´d be the most “gnawing” points i got with the UI right now :grinning:

I see that your advice comes from a good place; it’s just not what I was looking for, really. I just wanted to set things straight so that I know where you stand on this matter. I do appreciate that everybody is different and has their opinions. I haven’t really been trying to troll or start trouble, but our talks have gone not so positively, not as I wished. I’m beginning to think that the problem lies perhaps not in the topic but rather in how we communicate about it here. Thanks for the chat; you’ve got me thinking.

Are you also using HUD Tweaker? Can get some crashes while editing but perfectly stable after that.

Wait, what? I’ve never heard of such a thing… Is that even allowed on the Nexus, because, I mean Jesus… I think the weapon customization mod is fun, but something like this feels “gross” for lack of a better term.

thx for the tipp, much appreciated.

in fact i havent tried it out yet, mainly to the “can crash” part but if its restricted to the configuration part i’ll definately give it a shot :+1:

Some people, inluding me, don’t seek difficulty increase with getting outspecialed out of nowhere by silent trappers and bursters. I’d rather fight more hoards, elites, bosses, new types of specialls, then missing sounds and broken movement.

Important thing is, that sound cues are actually better then Spidey Sense. Visual side of things is allready heavy loaded in vermintide, there is a lot of stuff that needs to be tracked, and fast at that.
Even though I have this mod, I hear specials first 90% of times, dodgeing trappers and dogs by sound alone in horde.

If only those cues worked everytimes, I wouldn’t mind dropping the mod.

Make sure you are in the psykhanium (or a mission lol) to edit the mission hud. Make sure you are in the hub to edit the hub hud.

If you just want to hide stuff look for the “visibility” option in each component. I can usually remember my name, that was the first to go.

That’s correct. Spidey sense gives you a visual cue because the sound engine seems overwhelmed with playing all sound cues. It doesn’t give you any extra knowledge, just what you get if the sound works as it should.
It helped me a bit, but I deactivated it because there’s a lot going on visually anyway.

I’m really curious now.
@pirx and @DiamondNova , what are your software and hardware components? Windows Sound settings like in the old Control Panel Sound applet?

There are also very good free options like HeSuVi.
On-board sound? USB?
Does your headset come with a virtual surround (HRTF, 5.1/7.1) component? Is properly configured? Is it even installed? Logitech for instance now licenses from Sony’s DTS and some models include licenses to use DTS Sound Unbound. Even many motherboards include licenses, some “lesser” versions of DTS.

Are you using “newer” Win Spatial Sound instead? On? Which?
image
Windows Sonic is built-in, DTS has a 2 week trial (Dolby too, but I found DTS better).
And lastly what’s the in-game speaker config, no “7.1” now, but 5.1 is there.

I’d wager a lot of ppl out there have plain old 2.0 stereo across the board even when they don’t need to or out of date SW/FW.

Did you ever figure out how to get your streaming service to capture software-modified sound?

I use THX Spatial audio and/or 7.1 surround sound app, but neither are caught with audio capture on streamlabs or geforece experience
