Are players permitted to mod their game to put red dots on their weapons? That seems an awful lot like an advantage over others, to me at least.
70/30 gut feeling its “ok”
advantage would be stuff like not “already ingame” visuals, wall hacks etc.
this here are items that lay on brunts desk only not available right now in this combination.
plus people that “need” this and find their way into my team, pretty please use all the help you can get.
after picking them up 20 times in a row my back hurts, sah.
there’s some mods that basically give you a spider-man-alike powers to see enemies “damage outlines” when they’re ready to attack you
fatshark, seemingly, dont have a problem about that, and weapon customization exist for around a year or so, also allowing you to copy skins from shop and use them
thats not much of an advantage, more of a “QoL” option
As long as it doesn’t impact other players (Be it cheating or just cosmetics, like the mod used to be shirtless or the Vacuum capsule one) they are not gonna bother banning people for using it
my god… it is more a gadget than anything.
Tbh the advantage is so huge that I was not using it when I was using the weapon customization mod… and I do not use this mod anymore (mainly cause it, sometimes, forbids me to type in chat).
It doesn’t change the fact that I would want such features implemented in Darktide by Fatshark.
100% legal, that mechanic exists in the game and modders “just” allow you to use it.
It makes many ranged weapons A LOT LESS 4SS since basic crosshairs are absurdly bad
i mean, basically they are weapon parts.
it´d only make sense for a reject to cobble together anything he can get his hands on to increase the odds of not becoming nurgle chow.
just look at the objects used for armor-plates in sold cosmetics. makeshift that would make a prison inmate jealous.
Weapon FOV is great for that
Yesterday, I succeeded to reach 34% headshots with the boltpistol…
And I like also the crosshair remap mod
Speaking of mods, crosshair HUD is THE mod I could not play without it. And believe me, it brings nothing more, than the vanilla game, as informations… but the fact you can get all informations around your crosshair gives a (fair) advantage above any other mod could give you.
I see nades, toughness, health, ultimate… without even having to look at the bottom left corner. And still, it does not even add one more information than the game delivers you…
(But Fatshark should get inspiration from it…)
Oh not this crap again.
Information overload on that player’s screen. As I was watching I realised I should probably turn subtitles off my game.
If the query is specifically about the crosshairs, then afaik all guns in Darktide are centred in the middle of your screen (unlike you, Hunt: Showdown, sneaky game that you are). My monitor has a crosshair overlay that I could activate if I chose to. Nothing FS could do about that if I was so inclined. I dislike it mind you as again, more clutter, and I’ve just gotten used to aiming with vanilla game mode.
Can’t see that modding in a cross hair is detrimental to anyone else or the game really.
As for me, players with a scope attachment definitely have an advantage over those without it.
The same goes as for seeing enemy health bars, spawn logs, etc.
Mod abusers scream that it doesn’t matter, at the same time demanding higher difficulty
I wonder how long it’s gonna take for this thread to get lock like the other one.
And no… scopes are badly implemented in the weapon customization mod (even if, let’s say it, this is an incredible work).
Weapon FOV is really a lot better for that.
Poor features should NEVER be part of the difficulty of a game.
I cannot believe you could formulate such sentence…
If Fatshark was doing its job, we would not have to mod the interface. I did not even search for mods for Helldivers II…
Unpopular opinion but I think any mods are kinda cheating on a game like this, aside from cosmetics.
The playing field should be level. But seeing as it’s not pvp then it’s less of an issue.
If you want a particular mode or mechanic in the game then campaign for it. Fs are less likely to actually bother if they know a mod already exists. It’s enabling them to be lazy.
definitely cheating that is affecting core game functionality and the way the player interacts with the game.
the ease of use isnt a valid balance feature? so they cant give a weapon recoil. or a long reload or a small magazine?
why is a difficulty to aim and a cost to awareness when doing so less valid a balance option than say heavy recoil?
You confuse the qualities of an item, with the features of a game.
Weapon recoil is a feature, the fact that one weapon has a big recoil is not. This is inherent of the characteristics of a gun. Same for ammos.
What I call bad features is: the UI, the fact you cannot distinguish what’s stimm is on floor at a certain distance (corrected via a mod that show color above the stimm), that you cannot see how many ammo reload is left on the ammo crate (corrected via a mod), the lack of possibility to add modules to out weapons (scopes, laser pointer… weapon customization mod), etc.
Guns characteristics are not part of this, but part of weapons balance .
I repeat poor design should not be part of the difficulty…
Seriously, would you think that the candle in middle of the line of sight of the bolt pistol was a feature?
Tbh I do think that sights are part of a weapon’s balance.
But the weapon modification mod isn’t that big of an issue, still don’t think they should allocate dev time to make it official, as for most weapon it’s not really gonna bring anything much.
No why would it.
Sights with any kind of zoom in this game is more of a dissadvatage.
The revolver is a hitscan weapon with quite liberal interpetation to a headshot hit
It’s an advantage, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it cheating.
I feel more strongly about Spidey Sense, although in some ways I’m glad people who have issues with sound cues have access. There are definitely less charitable reasons to feel like you need it though, and I find it ugly as sin. In my opinion you lose some ineffable quality of enjoyment for the sake of improving your odds of winning a game. Not a trade I’d lightly make!
Overall I’d rather Fatshark be more lenient than strict about mods, since many do provide harmless improvements and I don’t trust them to manage a mod approval queue in a timely and frictionless fashion.
