Here’s mine, in no particular order, based off my Havoc-40 experience. Some of these might not seem dangerous, but because of silent disablers there right up there now, IMO. Gunners are also more dangerous than armored enemies & most bosses.
Even regular Bombers. Always love when a teammate goes down and that one bomber on the other side of the map nobody was even aware of up until that point - because he’s out of sight - chucks an absolutely masterful throw that lands directly on top of that downed teammate right before someone can rescue.
So much for that rescue.
Want to hunt down that Bomber? Too bad! Deal with the Maulers, Snipers, horde etc breathing down your neck first.
Especially for Hive Scum, who they’ll shred completely in a few seconds with seemingly pinpoint accuracy.
Yeah I was contemplating putting Machine Gunners at Max. They sometimes seem to suddenly do insane damage for no reason at times and manageable damage other times, I do kind of wonder if they’re bugged somehow, like each bullet is counting multiple times due to server issues or something causing stupid damage to be taken.
Same thing happens with shooters and stalkers breaking toughness in 1shot, seems kind of broken and probably needs fixing, because it can be really inconsistent.
Yeah, the thing is that if you get caught by gunners for the most part, they stagger lock you first into submission, then secondly you’re downed & there’s nothing you can really do at all. So, yeah, that’s why they’re at the top for sure. It’s a no-brainer placement. The only way you can stop this is by decent map placement & not going out in the open with certain classes. Depending on the modifier too, armor can be an issue like Rotten, but besides that niche modifier, I don’t think armor is a huge threat in general, personally.
Edit: Another aspect is that we all play at different skill levels too, to keep that in mind & whatever threat we may find extreme might be tame for others if you look at if from that point of view, that prospective. Which I can understand that.
The bombers and flamers, they’re medium on my list since they’re a non-issue if the team actually uses proper target priority and kills them straight away, but sadly some team mates are dumbasses and ignore the gas and fire being tossed around.
The gas bomber probably needs a nerf, since it’s basically just a better fire bomber for no reason other then the gas makes it impossible to see. Even the poison wind globidiers in VT2 were not as oppressive as gas bombers in DT.
Flamers are so-so imo and only really a big problem in specific circumstances. Usually they’re not a big issue to deal with.
I’ll put bombers on high tier for now taking into account the bugs they have where they yeet their grenades better then a professional baseball player is pretty bullsh!t and also because gas bombers can be very oppressive at times, blocking all line of sight. The flamers can stay medium though, since they’re not that bad usually, much less of a problem compared to that one bomber who is hiding outside of the map where you can’t even shoot him yeeting gas bombs constantly.
Yeah the stagger lock mechanic shouldn’t even be a thing for ranged enemies, it kind of breaks the game to some extent and most players hate mechanics that remove control from them, so yeah that’s quite an issue.
I wish more of my team mates would understand positioning better or about baiting the ranged enemies into narrow corridors and corners where we have the advantage, but quite often they love running into a room of ranged enemies and getting shredded.
I mostly play auric or auric maelstrom. I did used to play havoc before the devs ruined it and made it basically impossible to play with randoms, not to mention the broken mutators like rotten armour with the healing enemies mutator, like wtf is that combo lol.
If I don’t play more ranged focus builds. I feel like the team doesn’t take out certain elites/specialists that can pose huge problems in due time. It seems to be a recurring instance, like 8 times out 10, whenever I play with pubs, which is rare. I play with a pre-made & we all put in a decent amount of work, so there’s no issues. But that’s the thing… Probably not many people have a dedicated team of talented players at their disposal. So, there’s pretty much mostly a sht show all the time.
Exactly why I play Auric with meta builds and Damnation with builds like Taxe/Electrokinetic. The hidden difficulty modifier is always the other players, can be a big boon or a big loss. Just depends on the roll of the dice.
It’s actually kind of funny, because I usually play ‘Shroudfield Zealot’ underneath Havoc’s. Not because I’m trying to grief the team or speedrun necessarily. It’s to actually pick up downed players who are not very skilled at the game, it just happens all the time. I use it in a more ‘ethical’ manner to help people. It’s more of a clutch than anything really. When people see I’m running that they leave which I get, because it has a bad rap, but it’s really not what they think, lol.
I guess what it really boils down to between the lines is; I’m going to carry you today, lol.
auric is so easy you can just w key and win if you can kill specials by yourself
Shroud is perfect for clutching. Curious, do you prefer running Invocation of Death or Pious Cut Throat on this Shroud build? Now that tax nodes are gone, running Blazing Piety with Shroud for damage + Ability CD is a lot more enticing.
I think PCT is better at getting your ability cooldown back a bit faster, but that’s only if you’re really good at maneuvering backstab hits constantly. I think IOD is much more safe & tanky for sure, though with that route. I just build this way because I love the fast movement tech myself. You just feel so free with it. But it’s whatever you feel more comfy with. You could spec into PCT & go all the way towards Stalwart, but I feel like just spec’ing into IOD is just easier, along with Stalwart, is just more convenient. When I want to go all out with DPS & attack speed, I’ll deffs go Martyrdom for that mega damage with Shroudfield. It’s pretty epic.
I’m not quite to that level yet. ![]()
On a meta build like Purgatus with another decent player it’s usually a stomp speedrun, not too many clutches. Especially as Psyker the DPS output is so high on that kind of build that rarely 2 teammates go down; but I’m not the greatest at clutching so if it comes down to me being the last player alive and I’m not running a meta build it’s often a wipe on Auric.
If I want to be more adventurous… I’ll do this too for damage maxing. Also works with thammer too very well.
Silent Assassin - Zealot Build for Darktide - Darktide WH40k
I’ll have to give that one a go too. That other build was fun, I do enjoy the bonus attack speed from Inexorable Judgement.
