I'm tired boss

I’m not sure why trappers are being discussed as the problem here. Is OPs clip not just him lagging out hard? Connection problem or server overloaded or something. Enemies aren’t even moving

These are the mods I’m running, I wouldn’t consider that heavily modded. It may look that way because of the way I have custom_hud laid out.

Also silent trappers have been a thing for a decent while, and I’d consider it in the top 3 of most buggiest specialist enemies alongside poxburster and poxhound. The lag is a first for me though, only happening after hotfix. I dced shortly after this actually, and wasn’t able to reconnect to the game after this either even after turning mods off and trying to reconnect again.

This is why I still think “Cackling Trappers” should be part of the base game by now

Hookrats in VT2 ALWAYS make sound, each step is a sound that will always play no matter what, make it be very similar with Trappers, making noises all the time non stop so that if you get netted, it’s a skill issue

(I know they already make a small whooooo sound when they’re close, but it’s barely audible, needs to be turned up)

I feel like i’m honestly going insane. You can literally see OP rubberband in the clip but the issue is somehow game design or mods? Is nobody actually paying attention to what happens in that video?

It’s beyond clearly just the server or OPs connection at fault there

Trappers became definitely worse since the last update, along with pox bursters. They fire from way farther, and if you cant fully dodge because there is one pixel coming out of the ground you are caught and sent flying halfway trought he map towards the trapper because quantum phasing nets (trough crushers, terrain and virtually anything) also come with anti gravity thursters.

It’s a hyperbole. Point is that Trapper is poorly designed and implemented even worse.

FS obviously has no capacity to do anything about it. In this state of the game where we face dozens of armored units at once, because everything else gets instantly deleted or perma-staggered, it’s not a good design when an enemy can silently spawn in, attack and ignore all that mass.

It was clearly designed for old, pre-auric enemy density. Back the alpha days (aka pre-class skill tree update) Trappers were probably one of the most timid disabler specials, compared to dogs and mutants who were almost impossible to dodge

I’ve played so much with this mod that I ended up believing it was a base feature. I also have “special trackers” installed but only to show trappers and dogs and nothing else. Never had issues with silent stuff since then. However, it’s a shame that we gotta install mods to solve game breaking bugs in this buggy crappy spaguetti code engine that is Stingray, instead of the devs fixing it

Just make netted players immune to enemy detection. Simple as that. They’re already completely incapacitated, there’s no need for a beatdown. If they don’t get rescued before everyone else dies it’s the same mission failure anyways.

No mods here and I experience this frequently. More than half the days I play. It is not the only silent nurgle ninja. Guess we all have different experiences huh?

Aka emotionally unstable people who get emotionally invested in a decision to the point where they reflexively slot anything that might upset their delusion into the “personal attack made of lies” file. Regardless of all evidence that supports the other guy.

Reminds me of all the times people who get scammed would rather eat the loss than actually admit to anyone that they got scammed.

There’s a reason my threat tier list has trappers in Maximum and that’s because of how bullsh!t/broken they can be.

Tox Bomber in medium? Right up to twins with that one, if a mission goes south half the time it is in a green cloud.
