I think these mods need to be regulated

・Decode Helper

・Scan Helper

If this is allowed, then mods that always mark specialists and elites would also be allowed. It’s not a matter of degree, fatshark should update its modding policy before it is outlawed, what do you think?

I’m not a fan of blatant cheeze mods, but FWIW, someone did make the valid point that randos ~never hair-pullingly karkin’ help with any events (scans, auspex) and that’s why they used mod to boost the solo game.

The alternative sadly is for FS to police them (glacially) and re-instate EAC, and that’s pretty bad.

On a related note the scan minigame in Hab Dreyko is actually horrible. No one unless they’re a known contrarian likes that minigame.

one of those was released today and is pretty pointless to the very good prompt system the thing already has (scanner). auspex is a bad minigame where they need to straight up remove any consecutive input prompts if they want to minimize the impact of this mod. its badly designed.

dunno if this is on the level of always first attack, HP bars or spidey sense or anything that legitimately just plays for you and gives way too much info.

I love scanning. the new tree game is terrible.

Yes, sorry, I did mean the tree minigame. The injection circle one.

I have no idea why they didn’t just use the scanning area at the top, instead they overhauled that map from my favorite map to one of my least favorites. I love the maps with ZERO auspex hold n grind events.

Ohhh for a moment i tought OP has problem with the aimjunkie infestation which is a fully fledged aimbot… but no, just bitching about some QoL Stuff …

ohh well what next ? My naked caracter cannot shout “vacuume capsule” at the corner of the elevator while trying to “inject” myself with stims ?

Nope, that’s QoL too.

Wow. I just looked it up and that is definitely a cheat.

The minigame itself is amazing, I’d like all of them to use the same system worked in a way where mods couldn’t bypass them. Hab Dreyko’s problem isn’t the minigame but the map & the spawns.

Depending on your team, abilities and whether the AI breaks down again or not it may be literally impossible to do that part at all with the endless supermassive spawns 360 degrees around you, not to mention the constant supply of snipers & gunners firing at you from beyond the accessible map, while behind heavy cover & in the dark.

Even a good team can fail that if they have no decrypting oggies or shields to be able to do the job uninterrupted. And most pub teams are really not good. I’ve literally just up and quit there more than a few times after fighting against the endless mixed hordes for 10+ min without making a single second of progress.

I’m just quoting that out of astonishment.
The minigame … is amazing. That’s the adjective you’re going with?!

:stuck_out_tongue:

It’s barely passable as an explanation for making you stand, unable to defend yourself, for between 5 to 10 seconds. I’d prefer to have something like a digital safe cracker that lights up and you click on each digit when it’s ready. That annoying bit where the you and the server aren’t quite sync’d and you click on the symbol too early…

Oh, come on, are you seriously comparing mods like ‘Decode Helper’ and ‘Scan Helper’ to something as game-breaking as always marking specialists and elites? That’s like saying using a calculator is the same as cheating on a math test. These mods just cut out the boring parts of the minigame, not the actual challenge of surviving and strategizing in a firefight. What’s next? Are we going to ban anything that makes the game a little less tedious? The idea that these harmless QoL mods are somehow on the same level as actual cheats is laughable. Fatshark has bigger fish to fry than worrying about mods that just save a few seconds in a puzzle.

 I mean, barring the explanation for how it works (that sucks, but once you know you know), you have no idea how long each phase will take. I didn’t even know they added a mod for it but the feel of it is fantastic for the kind of hectic “work damn you work!” stress you’d imagine the characters have in that situation.

I like that it can’t be planned for, and also requires you to actually follow and keep track of it enough to really distract you from the combat, which poses further risks. Even a brief respite nvm stealth is enough to crack the normal decrypt, not so there. Ofc part of it is the map too but still.

I wish decrypting in general was more involving and risky, so ppl actually had to work together and cover each other. As opposed to how it is where even on T5+ and even without stealth you can usually just go and solo them provided you do a bit of clearing first.

See this

Mods is a topic that keeps coming back… and it always come to the same conclusion…

Try it in a solo game when you have to let bots watching your ass… and off course… without stealth.

(For solo there is a mod for this, or you can play with Many more tries and launch a mission that ended more than 1 hour… and you will play solo and still you can collect exp, ordos and materials)

 yes for whoever gets the 34.99 a month

isn’t that already a thing?

FS has already said if it doesn’t negatively affect others, it’s fine. There are much worse mods out there

yes it is

Spidey sense

And already discussed here:

This whole topic has been discussed MANY times…

A true example of repeated threads…

Mods can be downloaded for free. Of course, console players cannot use them
That’s exactly why I voted in the poll I createdFatshark should implement ALL QOL mods and allow players to use all of them ( they would be implemented as turned off by default)

Thanks for the links, will be downloading them now!

Ideally no, but I find solace in the fact that whether you like it or not, one day you will grow up.

Fatshark will never enforce their own modding policy, unless the mods start going completely overboard. I really dont think they have the guts to do it, the backlash would be insane. If decode “helper” isnt a clear example of giving an unfair advantage, which goes against their own policy, then i really dont know what is.
