I think these mods need to be regulated

I see nothing wrong with the mods.
The scanner mini games are obnoxious. It is overly simple and gets repetitive the second time it stalls.
Would be more fun to have no scanner interruptions and instead increase horde intensity or spawn a boss during the event.

FWIW, I still don’t get why people care about mods other people use in a co-op PvE game. If DT was a PvP game (Emperor Forbid!) then I’d understand. Just my .02.

Yes it could be a problem in a game like VT Versus. But not here in Darktide… I am more annoyed by too strong weapons than what others use as mods.

to be fair this isn’t quality of life stuff anymore. Just like spidey senses.

The minigames are there for a reason to screw you over. Someone has to peel you in the meantime while you try to “decode” this minigame. Hub dreyko tree is a perfect example where it is hard without ogryn/ stealth to get this minigame finished before getting hit once.

Might aswell have all specials with bright colors… oh wait they have that by design <-< but time to use a reskin mod to make them have a big red arrow hanging over them :stuck_out_tongue: for quality of life.

I hate decoder events so much if i could use mods i’d use it. scanners however its meh i kinda remember 90% of locations anyways.
also people here have stupid numbers of hours and still lack a ton of gear anything they can do to fix the off set is fine by me

Honestly… Might get em :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel the same about mods that show health bars, change scopes on weapons, show dodge counts, etc. There’s lots of mods that for sure give you an edge. Some of them FS should allow natively.

If FS would implement all the QoL mods and implement things faster and at least have it as an option (like seeing the score board, even post mission so you can’t message people, an archive of last 10 missions or something). Then modding wouldn’t be such an issue and they could green light mods that only touch cosmetic files but anything else gets blocked.

Probably add a modded realm.

Honestly they just need to do what they did for VT2 and just mark more mods for approval.

Any chance of that build code/decoder making it to Games Lantern?
Something that takes the output / input of this mod so we can copy+paste in there and share builds without the dual screening

'specially now there’s a whole section to guides.

Oh, those amusing mods! I’ve seen them but never considered installing them. The Auspex - if you install it, you might as well remove that system and just implement a long press of the E button instead. The scanner for elites why would I need it? I rely on sound and what I see. If I install it, I don’t think it provides any additional help; on the contrary, it distracts players and makes them less aware of their surroundings, preventing them from staying alert.

this. i don’t get it why some people harp so much about using mods. this is pve, not pvp. it gives some people more points on a scoreboard? (which is another mod btw). who cares. i’ve used health bars too but gave it up because i felt it clutters the screen and i can judge well enough how much an enemy has left. same for spidey sense, it’s just a visual feedback in case the engine can’t give one enough audio feedback. and scan events are obnoxious imo, i always leave the others do them and keep them safe while they scan. so if randoms need crutches because else you’re left alone, let them have them.

Two things about it:

  1. You would probably never find out that someone is using such mod, so no reason to fuss about it.
  2. Those minigames are just not very fun. We are here to kill heretics, not to play some kind of basic mobile game.

And I still don’t understand how people make this argument in 2024.
Hope you enjoy your pve with my 20rpm plasma machine gun, my 999 hp and self-rez.
Oh and HP bars and Spidey Sense ofc.

“I’m more annoyed when people overperform with weapons in the game than with people who overperform with mods.”

With current list of cheaty mods available and used I’m certain people would defend that too.

The problem is not really what should be allowed.
The problem is how slow is Fatshark at improving their game and how many problems are not addressed.
One example, Buy Until Rating. Seriously who has think at Fatshark that it could be a good idea to see a player wasting 1 million ordos to get 90 weapons and have to sell 95% of them one by one? who???
To be honest, what I would prefer is not a control about the mods, I would prefer that I don’t feel any need to use mods! but the truth is that a lot is not fixed in this game… and mods are the only answer we have

I’m not talking about that.

I’m talking about cheaty mods that give you in game advantages.

Spidey senses, Healthbars, 3rd person view, Weapon Customization (attachments, sights etc.)…

To a lesser extant even numeric UI, and HUD customization would fit this category.

I perfectly know it. But we both know that Fatshark can’t fix the problems of their game and don’t want to improve several aspects of the game that they have left to modders. So they won’t take care of the problems caused by the use of mods.
The only solution is to forbid any mod, something that the community would not appreciate. Especially cause they really need to fix a lot of things.
And they are terribly slow at delivering content. If they have to take care of mods… I doubt we would get a lot of new contents

They could just put out a list of banned mods, or better yet category of mods, and then just ban everyone using them after a week of grace period.

They already do this with macros. You can’t you macros to trigger multiple things in sequence or simulate multiple button presses, but otherwise you can use it. Can be the same with mods. “You can’t use mods to do this, this, and this. example, example example otherwise you are free to use other mods!”

I understand your opinion…

Perso, I can live with several players that ruin their own fun with cheat mods.

And I would really prefer that they implement QoL mods instead of loosing time on this. Just my opinion.

Implement QoL mods and ban modding? That’s a bit far for me personally, I’m not that much of a purist.

No… that’s not what I said. I prefer they implement QoL improvements instead of loosing time at trying to lower the player base with restrictions. My 2 cents.
But I can understand that’s not your opinion. That’s why I made a poll some time ago (unfortunately the thread is closed cause of the 7 days rule (now 14 days)).
