I don't know how to make the rapier work on legend

WHC needs 2 things imho. More health and slightly shorter cooldown on active. It worked on shade, why not here?

His active should definitely be a lot more spammable considering it doesn’t, in and of itself, do damage.

Considering the RV gets 15 seconds of stealth that 100% crits on ranged on a 2 minute timer and the Huntsman has 100% crits for 6 seconds on a 1:30 timer on ranged that opens with stealth and the FK gets a much better stagger/knockdown every 30 seconds while also having 50% (minimum) more health?

I’d be inclined to agree that a 20% crit chance on a 3 minute cooldown is a bit long. Especially since it doesn’t actually guarantee you’ll even get one crit off during the duration. Just for comparison’s sake.

It’d be nice if it were between 30 seconds and 1 minute. Or gave 100% crit rate to only melee attacks. Even if it was only to himself or something. You could even make it not interact with things like Resourceful Combatant so it doesn’t fuel itself - and just let it proc his ‘one shot on headshot’ passive. Then it’d be sort of like the shade’s ultimate - only significantly less bursty.

Edit:: This isn’t a problem with the rapier, though. That’s a WHC complaint.

Rapier is pretty awesome, in general. The only changes I’d like to see on it (if any) is the pistol having more range, the jankiness on blocking afterwards, and maybe being able to block quicker after a charge attack. Or letting it charge 20% faster :p.

I have to confess, I didn’t read all the 43 comments in this topic, but I have to say, OP’s point really surprised me.
I really love the rapier, granted I only play Champion. (Even tho I reached 600 power, looking at how easily randoms can f|_|ck up even Veteran runs, I dare not to go to Legend) It’s awesome for horde clearing, and it’s good against “medium” enemies aswell with some practice. You can poke the eyes out (instant kill on charged attack to the head) of regular Stormvermins, and Maulers die from 2-3 pokes aswell. I think even some specials can be oneshit with this aswell, but I use crosbow for that, so I’m not sure. Only thing giving me trouble are Shielded Stormvermin and Chaos Warriors but well, this is a team based COOP game, so you can’t (or well, shouldn’t, for the sake of balance) be the guy who kills every enemy type with ease.

About the pistol part of the Rapier, think of it as extended melee. To close (but still way outside melee) range it can oneshot the weaker enemies, or if it crits, even Stormvermin (no, not the boss obviously)

I tried all of the melee weapons of Saltzy, I probably played them wrong, but I found rest only okay-ish, with the exception of the Falchion, which I found abysmal.

So my go-to weapon with Saltz is the Rapier, and I’m usually doing quite good with it.

enemies on legend have 50% more HP. A charged headshot will only kill them if you are playing WHC and even then you need quite a bit of power stacking.

and Maulers die from 2-3 pokes aswell.

On legend:
7 partially charged stabs
4 fully charged ones

I’ve given up. WHC rapier is not worth playing unless you want to do it for the lulz or really challenge yourself. It has too many weaknesses to make up for the fact that you’re slightly better at killing hordes if you aim your headshots well. You’re basically a free buff when your team can’t hit breakpoints due to low green dust.

Wanna do the same exact job with a similar playstyle but be more effective and have other boons for your team?

Play Unchained with dagger and conflag. You have the same horde clearing options with dagger, more effective damage, more speed (since you can take swift slaying and not the +2% ult on crit for WHC) and a great backup with staff for staggering patrols. You also can’t die and the ult offers enough utility with its pushback.

Another option would be Waystalker with daggers and the required breakpoints. Hordes are a bit tougher, but you 1shot trash with DOT and you can control hordes very well with hagbane, not to mention the awesome (not broken) boss damage it does with STR pot. You also have a free special delete on a very short cooldown.

It’s really a shame that some classes and weapons are worthless compared to other options.

I have a red rapier I use on WHC, with attack speed and crit and swift slaying. I pair it with the time extension on active and that IS very effective… just only about every 3 minutes, but it does bridge the time.

Vs trash, which is never a threat unless you’re the last one alive. But if that happened you could have taken something else to prevent it.
