Huntsman vs Chaos warriors (and monsters)

At this point, if they want him to be anywhere near the other ranged careers, they might as well give him guaranteed crit on headshots as a passive, and increase the headshot multiplier.

At least since it seems they plan on keeping his bow as the worst, clunkiest, unable to swap weapon in the game.

And his ult the same, just an insane broken mess from when they tried to band-aid nerf his ult for something during the beta, which hasn’t been possible to do for 5 months.

Recently with LB, with power vs stacked in my favour and max crit chance, I fought a boss where I had the breathing room to fire non-stop at it w/o worrying about adds. I landed every shot, dealing the absolute maximum damage possible in the time frame +/- crit RNG. Every shot was during Ult w a Str Pot active the entire time and I lost in boss damage to a shade w/o a pot that was dealing with a horde at the same time. A pyro dealing with the horde wasn’t that far behind me in boss damage. So either he’s buggy af and sometimes his damage just doesn’t proc or he’s not as good as some people claim he is. Considering his stealth visuals still bug out, I’mma say both.

Edit: Side note, this was a good shade but one that I outperformed on other classes both before and after this.

What he needs is definitely extra headshot damage in his kit as a passive. His bow needs mechanical work and it is true that gearing a HM towards bosskilling is much more effective than having a HS do the job imho.

Ranged career supposed to be weaker in melee still has acces to all of Kuber’s weapons and can do everything with them the other careers can.

An IB has a dmg buff ultimate and extended ammo capacity as well right?

Now from facts to my opinion:
You see classes are different and the low hp ones get dmg as offset for they’re lower hp. This enables players with high skill to deal more dmg. You don’t get as much dmg in return for your hp and defense as I would consider a fair trade this is to ensure high skill players don’t overperform. For some reason this reasoning wasn’t applied consistently (Pyro).

He needs more than just more headshot mechanics, especially considering the only thing you’re reliably landing mid-long range headshots with is handgun and that you’re straight up not gonna land anything but a lucky headshot vs a Chaos Spawn. It’s kinda a dumb mechanic due to LB’s obnoxiously wide reticle and zoom bs.

The point is, they made him spam shoot in a different and more technical way. If you gave his current condition huge headshot damage on top of the crit, fire rate and ammo sustained it already has, you would just have Kerillians Longbow 2.0, with a huge amount of crit. It would be too much.

Just tested:
Longbow: 8.5% Chaos/8% Monsters (Barrage)
Charm: 10% Chaos/10% Monsters
Mace: AS/Crit (Swift Slaying)

We got a Troll and a Chaos Spawn. Shot five light shots to proc Barrage, shot until I got a headshot, for the Crit proc,and then popped my ultimate. They both died quite quickly. No horde on either. Or it came after.

Also one-shot a CW with the ultimate. Got a headshot proc on something and then ult him.

Wizard was Fireball and the Elf was Longbow. :expressionless: Salt was Handguns. :neutral_face:

I still managed to do fine against Elites and Specials whilst running this much Monster Power. As I’ve mentioned 100x before, you don’t really need to build for those things because of the Crit talent.

I ran out of ammo 3x.

This will probably be my new build as him tbh.

A higher headshot damage vs chaos warriors makes it more like kerillians longbow in what way? It retains all the downsides and only gets buffed in it’s special area of fighting CWs and even there it’ll still do worse headshot damage than the already existing crits.

Why do people use extremely subjective scorecards to try to prove very specific points? Especially when you can tell when a team comp is extremely lopsided in favour of w/e point the poster is trying to make?

Where does it say that? All classes have access to all melee wepaons. Are we going to pretend that Kruber’s melee selection isn’t abysmal across all his careers?

And HS has insano damage reduction, a great ult, access to a whole host of good ranged weapons?

The headshots can crit.

You’re basically suggesting he be able to one or two shot everything with a high fire rate weapon. If you said he should lose Crit chance or Crit power and gain headshot damage, then sure. You’re suggesting he just get a random Longbow buff to headshot damage on CW. He can already damage CW from range and kill them from Range better than almost every other range.

Oh you ran out of ammo on your ranged career did you, strange how the other ranged careers don’t have that problem. Now, instead of running with a WHC, HM and Unchained to try to make some new “evidence” screenshot, how about you run with some really good BH, Pyro, WS for instance.

You do realise I’m saying it is with ult? Without ambush it takes a few hits, last I tried I was able to 1 headshot CW with handgun while in ambush.

Higher fire rate than what, exactly? Which weapons in the game is it quicker than? Handgun?

Or Shade… IB… hell, anything comparably spec’d that’s also 100% focusing down a boss and not dealing with a horde so someone else can focus down a boss…

Play the build yourselves. I’m not suggesting something out of reach of testing.

The point of that test was to prove that you could run him as a Boss kill and still be useful elsewhere.

But yes I consider IB to be the lowest skill career.

Zealot used not to have access to the rapier so this is not set into stone but my point was that he’s not disadvantaged and I have to disagree he has some really good weapons but he out classes some of his own weapons with others.

Eh, principly my suggestion leaves it at:
12 bodyhits to kill
6-5 headshots
So i am unsure on where you are getting killing them in 1-2 hits from.
Crit+headshot damage is partially unrelated to pure headshot damage.
I can run some numbers if you want to get an exact estimate for what it’d actually have in terms of crit+head if my suggestions were fully implemented.

Seeing as he gets a higher amount of Crit from the first headshots, that would be a good idea.

Also, bare in mind people will start running Armor and Chaos so that they can take advantage of the damage increase.

Okay so, some achievable numbers using 2.4 headshot mult (which is probably as high as i’d go):
vs chaos warriors crits using 0.3 armor (down from 0.5)
bodyhit remains 11
25.5 on headshots up from 16
30.5 on crits, down from 32
38.25 from crit headshots down from 42.5
The crit damage reduction is collateral damage and not really intended, i can try working out a better set though it’s more meant to prove that you can increase headshot, without blowing the other ones up.

everyone wants to look like a god because he is a hard class to play, few people are willing to openly accept the faults of the class because “i make it work” when in reality you can simply test numbers on the modded realm and mathematically prove he is generally weaker than other ranged careers, once again it is FACT not opinion based on numbers, attack speed, reload times, and a slew of other factors that if you are being out performed by huntsman as a BH for example you are not playing to your full potential.
