Huntsman boss killing too strong?

Side dodge/turn/shoot or push/hack/slash like every other class. If you time it right it should still work even with low dodge weapons.

Um bit of a personal attack going on there? Kitten is welcome to an opinion.

Calling Kitten wrong is OK, (I’d like to know the reasons, as I’ve learnt a lot from these threads,) but a “Malignant presence” is way over the line. I’m out of this thread as it’s getting toxic.

It’s a daunting task, but you’re welcome to peruse this very thread to see the kind of things Kitten said, the kind of things Kitten presented as bulletproof evidence, and how Kitten very likely is partly responsible for FS nerfing HS in all the wrong ways.

Considering the counterpoints that were made, and demonstrating the false premise upon which the feedback was given, and Kitten’s further insistance upon his/her opinion being FACT, it is unlikely that the misguided and ultimately false feedback was given purely out of ignorance.

To quote myself:

I don’t have a problem with people arguing their opinions. What I have a problem with is people taking total trash anecdotal hogwash and presenting it as evidence, thus attempting to claim their opinion is fact, true and good and anything else is wrong. When in fact they are simply arguing their opinion.

Whenever someone attempts to bring forth ‘evidence’ for what is clearly an opinion, I get highly suspicious.

When that person then goes on to make increasingly dubious and quite obviously false claims, all alarms are ringing.

“Welcome to an opinion” =/= welcome to misrepresent facts to make that opinion appear more rational. “Malignant” may seem harsh but I really don’t know what else to call it. If someone says something that’s objectively false regardless of their motivations, then tries to reinforce that falsehood with misrepresentation, that’s not a good thing and it’s something reasonable people need to address in a timely fashion.

I’d be thrilled if people voiced opinions and sought to have friendly discussions about them. That’s easy. Opinions presented as facts then reinforced by lies, however, is poison to a game like this, especially when the devs probably don’t have the manpower to thoroughly vet and independently test every half-cocked request.

Well, this thread is likely responsible for the nerf. Congratulations, you killed the class. His boss damage was broken, but in Fatshark tradition they not only fixed that, they gutted him overall.

Lol, I like how everyone apparently thinks @Kitten is single-handedly responsible for the Huntsman nerf. given how long changes take to come down the pipeline, and also considering that FS listens to a much wider pool of input, that’s just ridiculous.

Everyone crying “omg huntsman is useless now” is being dramatic and hurting their own cause. He needs some tweaks, mostly in the form of QoL for his ult, weapon swap, LB zoom. Those need to happen first before any real balance discussion can happen, because those bugs/design issues make him a lot more difficult to use.

It’s not useless and even when people are being hyperbolic about it they still tend to qualify it by plainly stating that it’s “usable” but that the problem is it’s no longer balanced. It’s “useless” in the same sense that, say, BW is “useless.” They mean more along the lines of, “there’s no good reason to take this class over any other,” so the class is effectively dead from a meta standpoint when he was previously in an extremely healthy place and on par with other balanced classes. Like you said, people really just wanted his ult bugs and bs fixed and for his general bugginess/clunkiness to be addressed.

I’m not sure how you’re reasoning that changes take a long time. Some changes do but not balance changes. Several balance changes, like this last one, have been done hastily almost knee-jerk. Hell, look at the shade changes they had to revert. The original change was decided upon in less than a week, they paid such little attention to its impact that it outright broke the character, and they reversed the decision in like… what?.. a day after it became apparent there was an issue. Evidence suggests they can and do shoot from the hip on these things, which is exactly why people providing “feedback” that’s a total misrepresentation is such a huge issue. This isn’t a huge company with an army of QA personnel. If people inundate their feedback channels with utter bs, it does cause major issues.

Couple of problems with this.

Side dodge is the input you use for pretty much all specials this is just common knowledge, nobody is trying to back dodge leeches…

Shooting with regards to huntsman is not entirely reliable because of weapon mechanics and longbow being a projectile.

Pushing is not possible with lb equipped and weapon swap is terrible, as has been pointed out numerous times. Same thing for saying to just melee it. There are times where even if you dodge the initial gutter runner pounce he will instantly wind up another one while still being outside of your melee range.

The point I was making is characters with increased dodge range talents have a much easier time dealing with specials and its not really a matter of opinion or “git gud”. Thats literally why those talents exist. Huntsman has garbage mobility this is just a fact.

As long as you don’t have the bow drawn, side dodge is fine for dodging an assassin. Heck just moving sideways is usually enough. Once you dodge him light attacks are all you need to use, those are plenty fast…

Huntsman op.

Oh yeah HS totally OP, better than BH, Slayer and Shade. Like just totally the best.
