Hi FS leadership! Just your average person here, which makes me statistically a better communicator than you. I havent been purchasing any of your microtransactions or given you any money since October of 2022, which - lemme tell ya - fool me once, amirite?
Anyhoo, I know that Catfish kinda did that thing that we love and which you don’t like where she gives us even the tiniest crumb of communication (y’know, her job). That stresses you out, I get it. We all have avoidant habits in one part of our lives or another and yours just happens to sit somewhere between you guys and us, your playerbase. So, given that I’m not offering you any money, I thought I might offer some free advice.
If you can’t hit a deadline, just let us know about it beforehand. And I do actually mean beforehand. Please.
The easiest and most painless time to change an expectation, especially when you were the ones to set it, is before it’s supposed to be met, not after. Otherwise, the expectation remains; you simply haven’t met it, and that’s not on us. And the reason why it’s not on us is because right now, before the end of the month, is your opportunity to let us know to change that expectation.
They said we’d hear more around the end of the month. Mike appears to be trying to get ahead of the curve for when April rolls around and there’s still no updates.
Remember when they had to postpone the Rejects Unite announcement because some GW busybody decided at the very last moment that the announcement should be moved to Skulls? Pepperidge Farm remembers
There’s also a bunch of old stuff that’s been datamined that nobody has seen yet.
I don’t know why so much stuff is unfinished. My guess is that they’ve finally caught onto the fact that every time they release something, half the news cycle focuses on how nobody can obtain any of it without this game being a real piece of garbage towards its playerbase.
Ahem. Let me get ahead of the usual white knight brigade points, nice and quick:
“by the end of the month.” - Catfish never specified which month.
“in due time.” - essentially means “eventually”, which demonstrates an eventuality, a possibility, a zero-commitment statement.
“near future” - spacetime is relative, and that’s only considering Einsteinian physics.
“dev blog” - an old, archaic even, method of online communication, long forgotten by the modern internets. Also - suggests regular updates/entries, which as we all know don’t exist.
There are 5 days remaining. Also - stop gaslighting yourselves and setting incorrect expectations. There have been no commitments. This community is toxic. She didn’t mean what you thought she meant…
etc…
etc…
I’m gonna guess the C O M M U N I C A T I O N is gonna happen on thursday beacuse this friday is a “red” day in Sweden, aka a day off work.
And turning in your homework the latest possible moment is FS signum
Pretty much this. I don’t understand what a passive-aggressive post will accomplish. And to criticize Catfish for not doing her job, as if she can say whatever she wants on the forum. In the modern job market, you can’t even say whatever you want on your PRIVATE social media account. If anyone finds out where you work, you’re done for. You have even less freedom to type when you do it via official work channels.
I’m not saying this is optimal communication, or that this is how I want it. But, I don’t understand why someone would think that Catfish has all the information and is allowed to share said information.
If it’s not this Thursday it’s the next. Or the one after that. Announcements come on Thursdays, patches usually come on thuradays but sometimes come out a day or two early. I don’t need CatFish to tell me if it’ll happen this week or not. I think all of us can wait an excruciating two days to see if stuff is posted then.
And honestly I would prefer FS to not post anything before the end of the month because that is the funniest outcome, and that is what I am rooting for at the moment.
Come on folks… let’s take a balanced view. I think there’s a lot of self-entitlement being shown in general here.
I’m not defending FS for their total lack of communications - like anyone, it’s been frustrating for a game we love. But let’s get real folks, you paid $40/£40/E40 for a game. The core game is amazing, that’s why we’re here. That’s not gone away. Just focus on that, enjoy that, and forget the stuff around the side. You’ll probably feel a lot happier with your lot.
I’m not really sure what people think they should get for £40? If you’ve clocked up 10 hours or more of enjoyment, then my god, you’ve had the equivalent of a cinema ticket price, and far more than sitting through a typical football match. If you feel badly done to in your two or three hours, then of course ask for a refund. Or just step away from the game for a year, find something ‘better value’, then relish all the free content that’ll arrive in that period of time.
It’s okay to bash the odd bit here and there about bad mechanics, or things you want to change, but let’s just take a second to be reasoned. If FS just said, “no, this is it”… decide if you’d play anyway?
