If we want to start putting words in people’s mouths…
You think calling a child “very, very lazy” is how you push them to their full potential? Do you really think that this isn’t toxic behavior to a child?
Being a parent myself, the degree to toxicity I find on this forum, were this directed at a child, I would be calling CPS on the parent who is that abusive to their child.
You use one example out of literal thousands and that’s your entire case? Alright, let’s roll with it.
Let’s say your child has been asked to do… I dunno, 10 assignments across a period of 2 years. You check in regularly with that child and after 1½ years you realise that he’s only done 3 of those 10 assignments and the rest of that child’s time was spend watching YouTube videos and eating junk food instead of studying and doing their assignments. You’ve raised a pretty lazy child, haven’t you?
Then they should be able to handle our criticism like adults and yet you’re treating them like they’re children.
That’s what it means to stay on-topic. A skill that is lost in these forums, it seems.
I thought we established that FS wasn’t a child?
Do we have to?
There’s too many hidden variables untended.
What are the nature of the assignments?
Are the assignments timely? Are they given realistic deadlines?
Were they spent watching youtube and eating junk food? How can you tell this?
If they were in fact, watching YT, and eating, I’d ask them why they didn’t complete their assignments.
I have a child who had exhibited this exact behavior, and we found that due to numerous issues, they needed an IEP. Since then, their completion rate has been much higher, and reaching better grades. I could’ve been a toxic parent and yelled at them only to get nowhere.
I silenced anyone who used ad hominem attacks and …
Surprise surprise! In came fatshark to communicate on the forums about behavior, citing that the people who “disagreed” could not speak to the arguments and instead used ad hominem attacks.
Some of its constructive, some of it isnt, some of it is poking fun and some of it goes too far imo. Im a staunch supporter of being able to poke fun but without taking it too far. I tend to draw the line at getting personal because I dont know the devs or forum denizens personally.
Yeah, I’ll never personally attack a Fatshark employee. I’ll refer to and criticise the company as a collective but I’ll never focus my criticism on, say, Catfish or Julia for example. That’d be right mean.
