Yet another ball drop by Fatshark. It sounded all good on paper then we find out the only person who progresses rank is the one who starts the mission. That means in order to progress toward level 40 Havoc for FOUR different people, a minimum of 160 havoc missions is required in order for your entire party to be on the same page and at level 40. Why wouldn’t everyone rank up normally?
Edit: Apparently everyone gets experience but only the party leader who starts the mission ranks up instantly. Everyone else doesn’t see their rank progress until next week.
Everyone gets progress, but only after weekly reset (aside from the “host”, who gets the progress immediately) .
So yes, it is terrible design.
It is so bad and so unintuitive, that i would not be surprised to see new bug reports and complaints about this every day, for a while.
Not like we have not told them before.
Now, you can beat a bunch of havoc missions with a party.
Once you leave the party, you can not keep playing at the same difficulty, and nobody else will invite you to any high difficulty group, because there is no way to tell that you have beaten high difficulties already.
Until next week.
What is even the point of having random missions per player, if not to provide options?
Well with this design, there are no options.
As a group, you always play the missions from the same person. Otherwise you do not progress.
It was predictiblet hat this would happen.
It was 100% obvious that this is a terrible design.
@FatsharkStrawHat Can you please tell who ever is responsible, that they made a terrible design choice and that it should be changed as fast as possible?
Unless they want havoc to die immediately. Then it is fine.
Not that the “random missions for each player” aspect already makes havoc incredibly inaccessible, since it forces the use of the party finder.
Of course, the ability to achieve rank 40 by getting taxied into 1 mission, and the inability to rank up during the week, unless you are hosting, had to be added as well…
It’s really stupid - it progresses for the others ONLY AT THE END OF THE WEEK.
I think I see the goal - trying to keep someone from riding the coattails of a really good player into the highest levels - but it’s really, really, really stupid.
So since launch I’ve played this game with 6 different people but NONE of them are online right now or have played the game in the last few weeks so this game mode is DOA for me. I have just under 1500 hours and I don’t get to play the new 'harder’mode because the other people I know want to play the game less than I do. AMAZING GAME DESIGN!
Trying to find people to play 160 missions with is not happening.
Matchmaking/party finder completly doesn’t work and I read on a different post (from a fatshark mod) that when your not the match leader (the one who started the session) you don’t level up till the following week. So 3.07 years to max level.
It means that for this week we won’t get 4 mission options to choose from for 4 people, and after this week it won’t reroll all 4 players missions after a successful clear. The only way to get rid of that Vent Purge mission is to play it or wait a week.
As I was planning on playing with multiple groups, this is really a kick in the teeth. Grinding to 40 already sounded boring enough. Having to potentially do it multiple times sounds infuriating if I want to play high level missions with different people
Grinding to level 40 just sounded even less fun than it did 10 minutes ago
Really sucks that I play to basically update the hosts progress and have to wait 5 days for my own. Why? If the party is of similar level, just update us all. Kinda lame
I think that if you assist host you should at least get clearance up to 5/10 levels below host. That way you still have to climb your way instead of the ability to be carried. So far, I’ve only cleared 16… so I don’t know how much that level difference will be.
And on the other hand, you still get clearance, it just clears a week later. So it’s not like you’re not progressing, but I get that it sucks having to start over if you were helping a host and grinding it out for a while. Ergo, my suggestion.
Yo fatshark. Why exactly is there no matchmaking in havoc? I don’t want to use you “party finder”. Please give us matchmaking like in the rest of the game. Thx.
As I understand it. Mode that is added for the sake of using PF - start only with at least 1 friend, and if there is no friend - look for a person in the hub who just hangs until the launch)))))
A level of interaction with players that we didn’t ask for, but we got. I have more than 1k hours, and out of them I spent probably 80% of them in solo games and do not regret at all, and do not plan to change my approach, each game 3 new players and different experiences, which was interesting.
As a result, I can’t play ‘interesting’ mode, and apparently I won’t be able to until the Sharks think of removing this stupid restriction. And to all appearances it will be removed in 2-3 weeks, and because of this I have less desire to touch it at all with this approach, and will continue to play in AM.
The idea is most people don’t hop onto games hoping to be forced into forming an actual party with randoms just to play new content. Being able to join a random party at the click of a button is completely different. Needing to go out of your way to formulate a party with three others is just annoying and can become tedious.
There is absolutely no downside to letting us quickplay from the Havoc menu. “People can piggyback off of others ranks” so the f*ck what? People got Auric Storm Survivor by cheesing it yet they’re still terrible and its very obvious when they play. So what if some bad gets havoc rank 40? He is still an awful player and you can see it when played with and they know they’re bad lol. Limiting and forcing us to create a group is not a very smart move.
FS this is ridiculously prohibitive game design. People are already denying players from joining over their havoc level. Just allow progress to every participant as it should be. What even are you trying to accomplish with such a mechanism?
