Maybe we're missing something?

With regard to Havoc mode, I think it’s perceivable that the tradeoff to not progressing your own havoc level is that you aren’t at risk of losing your own progression. (If that’s how it works) So you’re free to coast on other’s progression without risking your own. Still though. I think you should at least be brought up to -5/-10 levels behind your host so that you don’t have to grind all the levels behind them, but you gotta do some of the risk yourself…

… Otherwise? It’s not different than cheesing Auric Storm Survivor.

I missed the part where that’s my problem.

If everybody or even close to half the playerbase has someone to boost them to later levels then fatshark wouldn’t need a partyfinder(not that it was any good) in first place.

Play to get the cosmetics and then never play again

Oh yeah fatshark really cooked lmao

Eh, I dunno! I think the fact that you snap to the highest rank you’ve won after waiting a mere week pokes a big hole in the risk/reward and the “rank jumping prevention” theories.

I personally think it’s more likely that the intent was to extend the available Havoc missions for a group of players and provide a very soft mechanism for continued progression for grind-focused players. If you want the grind, and the feeling that there’s something on the line, having the extra missions to progress for each person in a party makes sense to me. And if you don’t want it, your rank jumps forward in 7 days tops.

I still don’t know what happens at rank 40, but if you beat your rank 40 and then there’s no new mission for a week, I think that reinforces this idea. But hopefully that’s not the case, and clearing a 40 just gives you another to play.

At any rate, I think about a dedicated group of 35s playing together. They’ve effectively got 20 missions worth of possible progression for the week, and 60 possible chances. That seems like a reasonable number to me…something some people might enjoy together.

Buuuut ultimately (based on my very limited interaction with the system) I don’t think the “lagged progression” of non-host players has landed well or should be kept. Instead, an infinite number of 40s should just be rolled for anyone seeking challenge. Sure, there’s no progression carrot in that case, but, with only basic materials on the line, I think that’s fine.

i dont care at all about progression i just want to play the mode without having to grind 20 hours of heresy tier missions to get to the fun part

Have you tried it? Because the last one I played was a 17, with a challenge rating of 4 (Heresy), and it sure as hell didn’t feel like one.

I ranked to 34 and the game broke so badly that we cannot play

When almost everything that doesn’t have the pus armour blessing dies in one light attack hit from a 1H chainsword in 16-20, it’s very noticeable.

lol broke how?

9999 hard lock.

Ugh. I was hitting that, but I still don’t know why…I was the highest ranked in my lobbies and was consistently able to start missions while others weren’t.

i got to around havoc 25 before not being able to play any more because of error 9999

Ah word sorry you’re bored. And that dang old 9999…!

Just read a post about someone with a group of friends, all 100+ hours, who just aren’t confident they’ll ever clear a Heresy-level Maelstrom and therefore won’t even be able to participate in Havoc. They were bummed out, and the Havoc penances were mentioned, 2/3 of which are just for completing any rank or mission X times. Not forcing a whole group up the ranks is another possible consideration for how this mechanism works now.

Again, I think it’s flawed (and the ability to choose lower ranks would be ideal). But this may have been part of the design considerations.

Post some vids, would love to see.

Oof, it’s gotta suck to have the only reason to play a new mode is for the cosmetics. I’d play it without the reward. Kinda like a labor of love sort of thing.

Im sure there are people who dont care for the free cosmetics.

yeah, like me. i wanted a clean version of the 6th’s uniform and they very much didn’t deliver. jacket’s wrong, paldrons are broken, boots are wrong, and the facemask isn’t even either of the ones they use! it’s a disappointment across the board. most of it’s just reused cadian uniform trash and cadians look stupid.

If they at least made it so that your Havoc rank shows in regular games as well it would incentivize at least some to keep playing it. I know I would at least since I had a great time yesterday. But I’m like the only one asking for this so not expecting that to change anyway.
