this trash is pretty stupid. why not just apply the modifiers that make the enemies tougher to auric, and then compound more of those on the maelstroms. it would make them so much more fun to play.
but instead they’re all going to be quarantined to weaves 0.2 (a total regression of the already bad and excessively flawed fail mode of VT2).
Hell, it’s why the Book of Grudges reopened after finally, FINALLY, going a week without someone complaining in the forums due to Unlocked and Loaded being really good.
Fatshark made Havoc mode, announced it, everyone said it was gonna be Weaves style and bad, Fatshark didn’t listen, it’s now out and it’s Weaves and bad.
Probably because they didn’t realize how tedious it would be to form basic parties. I joined about 5 different havoc parties today and only 1 out of 5 groups stayed together after completion. That is the main reason there needs to be quickplay. 9/10 times people aren’t joining a party to stay on for 5 hours and grind some Havoc levels - some people only have time for maybe 1 or 2 games, thus needing to formulate a party only adds into the mentality of “well this is going to require too much of my time”.
This is also one of the few games where one match could end up taking up 40 minutes of your time. I haven’t played many other multiplayer games in recent years but I am pretty sure the average t5 Auric Maelstrom takes double if not triple the time most other multiplayer games take to complete 1 match.
I’m on a 3,000 player discord and I’m pretty well-acquainted with a lot of the familiar faces there. I know their skill and they handle themselves quite well. I think you should join our discord. You’ll find what you’re looking for. But, if you’d rather do things in a way that’s more difficult, be my guest; I won’t stop you.
I understand this is to prevent powerleveling or boosting (i guess?) but the problem with this system is for example: I played up to level 28, now I am only going to search for 29 games or higher because otherwise i am not progressing.
So in this example I am not gonna play a game that has a lower level, because that will not make me progress toward a higher level, and that is gonna make me sit in the partyfinder and search games that has a level of 29 or higher.
I think this raises a couple of problems.
I am not playing the game since I am looking for a match.
Higher leveled games are gonna get flooded and getting in to a group is gonna get hard (more waiting and not playing.)
I am not gonna populate lower leveled games (fewer people in the lower levels mean more waiting for them).
If this is the intended system for how this will work i am afraid this is gonna lead to a lot of frustration for players who do not have a 4 stack.
I think FS needs to go back to the drawing board on their People Finder. Lots of logic and design issues. I think having a proper Grouping tool could be useful, but not if it is a pain to use. As for grouping for Havoc missions, IMO you shouldn’t be able to try to join if you haven’t qualified yet (doing a Maelstrom mission). I’ve had several missions with people trying to join without having done a Maelstrom mission since the update. Because FS wasn’t clear that you had to have done a Maelstrom mission AFTER the update came out. You get a notice that SOMEONE ambiguously doesn’t meet the requirements.
I have not seen any sound reason for why the leveling of anybody but the Host being delayed. All it does is make the Party Finder worse, since you are always in a scramble to find some host in your range.
I’d also like to start a Havoc match at any previously beaten level. I had a lot of fun on the way up, now I’m higher and it’s a vastly different experience.
