No… I say that the definition he uses could label numeric UI as a cheat, and even the force block mod.
And if he does not point them out as cheats, it is only a matter of his appreciation.
This has been the accepted definition for decades, the cheaters obviously disagree because they want to cheat. Others seem to be completely apathetic, and that’s fine, I guess.
Others I suspect have IRL issues that prevent them from differentiating between right and wrong, and to your earlier ancillary point, if there were no laws they’d run amok. To continue that analogy, there are no laws here, so many run amok.
The reason I brought it up is because Badwin did, he thought it was cheat and for him cheese=cheat.
I see how it can be considered unbalanced, as Badwin said, the VFX are part of the balance. It doesn’t cause any headaches for me so likely people removing this and by extension the shield bubble are using it to gain an advantage. To @alsozara point though, some VFX are so over-the-top obnoxious that they are begging to be disabled (if they can’t be swapped)
But IMHO this doesn’t cross the line the full fledged cheat like ESP mods do, again it can be considered unbalanced, I concede to Badwin’s point.
Contrary to how you’re trying to paint me, I’m not a purist nor see things as black and white, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see lines being crossed and degrees of severity, most of us can even though some pretend not to for selfish reasons.
See “I’ll know it when I see it” and I’ve already listed several criteria.
Trying to blur the lines cross, use false equivalencies (like here) etc. are all transparent (ha) logical fallacies and cheap parlour tricks, they reek of insincerity. The other two still skirt around so many issues and repeatedly fail to address the points they themselves raised,e.g. is my mod the same level as an ESP mod?
So, you are the world authority on what constitutes a cheat?
Because you quoted this: “Declaring something as a cheat just because you say so does not make it an absolute truth.”
In a PVE game, is a cheat what the developers say it is…
There are… the rules given by Fatshark. But you don’t accept them.
I can understand if you need clarification or even push for new rules, but you cannot say that something is a cheat in a PvE environment when the developers don’t label it as such.
I’m not trying to depict you as anything. I’m just stating what I think you’re doing.
In fact, I’m not even sure what definition you personally give to a cheat, because it seems to shift slightly depending on which mod we’re talking about.
If you could provide a clear definition of what you consider a cheat, it would help me.
Last time, you defined it as “something that a human cannot do in the normal game without a mod.” With this definition, more than 50% of the mods would be considered cheats. You always claim that it’s obvious… but it’s not.
And now, you’re talking about ESP…
From my perspective (which could be wrong, and I assure you I’m trying to understand your position), it seems like you define as a cheat anything that gives an unfair advantage from your own point of view. I don’t see any clear line that you’ve given us to understand how you determine what qualifies as a cheat (in your opinion) and what does not.
And I repeat that you refuse to acknowledge that others may see things differently.
Absolute BS, they have taken almost no position whatsoever and here are yo appealing to them again.
Another appeal to a non-existent authority. I’m going to start ignoring you now, this is always your fallback position and it has zero bearing…
I was wondering when you’d show, where are your buddies?
Man I just popped in to say hello wtf
LOL sry, I failed my NPC duties ![]()
All is forgiven gamer
Your right.
I see that you cannot provide a definition of what you consider a cheat. That answers my question… Since you can’t articulate it, you just say it’s obvious, as if it were something universally accepted.
But sorry, this only reveals the fact that you don’t have a clear definition other than “a cheat is whatever I decide it is”.
I assure you that I don’t want to be rude, and I understand that I’ve put you in a somewhat uncomfortable position, but I don’t know how to say it more kindly.
They took a position. You just don’t accept it.
As I said, there’s nothing wrong with asking them to change their position. But it is wrong to refuse to acknowledge that they have already stated it.
And there’s nothing wrong with asking for clarifications. But it is wrong when you try to impose your point of view.
I know you wanted to frame this as a right/wrong issue. Well, here we are.
In fairness, the rules are vague to the point of near uselessness, on top of inconsistent enforcement.
They did not, unless you mean no position.
As I said:
First day on the internet?
Edit: No idea what the mod/thread in question is about. Can I get a TL;DR?
2 out of the 3 dont belong.
Bro we really got chatGPT cliffnotes on DT drama ![]()
Brother, normally I’m the one giving the GPT summary. Ol Ral here just humbled me.
TLDR ; the merits of some mods that have a dual purpose of being hacks but also useful for the differently abled.
Gotcha, so the root is one of those “This accessibility mod is busted in the hands of the fully abled, so it might be a hack maybe…?” type things?
Basically. Touchy subject this one.
