Grimoire Clowns

Then OP should have complained about the mechanic instead of calling other players selfish clowns.

So we’re tone policing again, then? oy vey

My perspective as someone who never picks up Grims:

If Grims are in the mission and people need/want them, they’re within their rights to pick them up. If another player doesn’t feel like that burden is carryable, it’s up to them to say something. If you picked the mission, you knew what was up when you accepted the mission, and if you QP’d, you accepted the risks of getting a difficult mission set. That’s the opt-in there.

I think the best solution would be to make grimoire missions their own marked mission and make it so you cannot randomly matchmake into one, so you have to pick it yourself.

But I also agree with harlekein, it’s at the end of the day a game mechanic, I do not think people tend to pick them to grief and they’re actually quite poorly explained, because they’re not explained at all.

They should be in the tutorial and offer a much higher reward, or remove the penances tied to them.

yes but, i am petty don’t let me be carrying you and pick up that ball and chain for everyone. don’t worry i will pick you up in the next area. just in that instance. in normal circumstances lets see what happens. in qp you get what you get.

ps: at 2 books it collusion and you don’t like nice things

Thanks

On this subject I feel you are as unfocused as those that pick up the tomes, just saying…

Not bad ideas. But QP is still affected and FS sucks at tutorials.

I think the actual best solution is to make it not team corruption, like OP.
Personal goal > personal risk.

Ask in game (forced etiquette) and see if anyone else is willing to take on that risk for your benefit. I know I’d do it more often than not just like I already help any player that asks for penances and scrip/grims assistance.

You’re not helping your case, bud. Focusing on your tone instead of the substance of your argument is not a sign of ignorance, just…improper argument priorities.

True about the tutorials lol, I was thinking at least the bare minimum showing what happens when picked up, just like how the game teaches you about the boxes.

But yeah also agreed making it a personal mechanic could be the way, it already looks like a leftover from VT2 where it has an impact on the loot, but here I do not see any key role, since loot is detached from this.

As you said, it is a game mechanic, but, 1stly - It should be self corruption and not team wide. 2ndly - you know it is not good for you or your team when you pick the item up and you start to get a lot of corruption, well unless your self awareness is right out the window.

I believe it affects dockets and xp. I’ve seen some say it can affect an emperor’s gift, but not conclusively.

We’d never know (without maybe code digging) since FS can’t do tutorials…Hell, they can’t put a text line about ammo boxes having 4 charges.

If knowing about it yes agreed. A little bit of a personal experience though, I think I saw my first grimoire hours into the game, they feel quite rare. I realized fast what it was because of VT2 but I assume many people don’t know to begin with or might not realize.

Agreed on it being self-corruption though 100%. That would be probably the easiest fix.

Or a % of usage on Med boxes.

Hmm, even if it does I would say they’re abundant enough even from just playing easier missions and the stores I feel bypass most need to actually care about the ingame loot.

And if it does indeed affect Emperor’s Gift, I feel the quality of that is still 100% down to its stat distribution, a newer player would get a good power boost until they hit that point where just the stat dump matters.

Maybe if somehow Emperor’s Gift had a chance to drop 80% across the board weapons and Grimoires would be a way to boost that chance? Nothing too OP but a nice motivation to grab them (with only self corruption).

Oh yeah, no argument it’s a meaningless impact. Just addressing this:

actual key role being penance/weekly completion (and grief potential)

I’d like to repeat myself (again), nobody in their right mind does books for weeklies since they added the plasteel/diamantine fetch quests, it’s a trivial effort to re-roll the weekly quests for super ez ones.

Furthermore, Melk and Emprah’s Grifts have both been rendered near-useless (except for maybe very new players) since the unlock update where shops, both hourly and Brunt’s, are very generously seeded with perfect dump stat weapons.

Oh right forgot about penance and weekly, I just tend to reroll that bit always. Guess we will see if Fatshark leaves it like this. Arguably even that Melk’s store is less important than it used to be, so by extension so are grimoires.

@gpkgpk And yeah I got all of my ideal rolls just from Brunt, maybe a curio or two from Melk but that’s it. Rerolling that part always.

There’s your problem, right there.

Basically a separate topic, but yeah. Had literally all my savings in melk bucks for when space cop dropped. I’ve now spent ~70k+ on just curio rolls with only 3 410-420 to show for it. Everything else from brunts, not even the expanded melk shop arbites got.

Old Monster Hunter has better RNG than that…
