Getting the weapons/curios you want feels like a hopeless fight

I just don’t care about my weapons’ blessings and passives, I just look at the stats and pick my weapons that way, this isn’t how it should be, it feels like there is no hope that I will ever get a weapon that matches what I want 100% on any of my characters, even after 500+ hours of play time (I’m at 180 and I don’t have a single “perfect” weapon/curio), feels like it will never happen.

EDIT: also because most blessings are either bugged, or they just feel like they do nothing.

agreed, the rng and lack of player agency in every single aspect of the game is horrible, I made a post just a bit ago that has a whole ass list of issues i have with it.Here’s that list if ya wanna see it

It’s a chore, but it’s typical RNG and Vermintide was not much different from that sense, so I don’t see much of a problem.

One could argue it’s a big waste of time, but so can then be said for pretty much any game which is loot orientated with rng. May it be Diablo or borderlands, they all make heavy use of RNG.

Vermintide didn’t have as much RNG as this, we still had the ability to control what are weapons were like, RNG didn’t permeate EVERY SINGLE feature of the entire game

Vermintide was a million times better, I have every weapon in the game with the perks and passives I want, if you get weapon with horrible rolls you can just reroll, and if you have a red, you are set.

Meanwhile in darktide, crafting is still bare bones, and with the amazing move they pulled with the “one passive will be locked forever if you reroll the other” my hopes are extremely low for what’s to come.

I’m have a really tough time seeing the difference here.
Properties, Trait vs Blessings and Perks. Both are rng

The only advantage Vermintide has, is once you ‘finally’ got your hands on that mystical red quality level, which on it’s own costs an unhealthy amount of time just to get one. Those red’s had property or trait be at its max level, that was a big boon. But still, you were rolling the dice getting the right combination of properties and traits and just with Darktide, I’ve been rerolling properties and traits for great many hours.

Vermintide’s RNG wasn’t great,it’s just that darktide has more layers, and more restrictions, locking things for example, who knows what other magic tricks they will pull off when the rest of the crafting system is released.

More layers? That depends on how you look at it.
A single weapon has access to about 8 blessings and depending if its melee or ranged access to about 15+ perks. In total their might be a massive amount of blessing compared to what Vermintide offered as Weapon properties, but they appear to be limited to a select view.

Don’t forget Vermintide also had Necklaces, charms and trinkets. Darktide only has curios.

If you want to compare darktide with diablo and borderlands you maybe see a tiny difference how much loot you get.
Not to much but around times 100 should be ok for a calculation

Because of the difference in quantity of weapons you get in darktide it takes much longer …

It’s the rng element I was taking a stab at… and besides, both games dropped a boat load of loot on you and 99% of it was utter garbage or not suited for your class you either sold or used for crafting materials

There is a treat here in the forum about the math for the RNG already.
The numbers looking very bad.

Let´s just say we can´t compare darktide with looter-shooter and arpg´s.
Not even for the RNG, this makes not really sence. This would lead to an off-topic discusion.

But btw crafting is what most people want in the game. To avoid this RNG fest.

Then you have no sense of scale between the level of rng in the two games. Finding a max power VT2 trinket with maxed stats if one of them is stamina is like a 1:20 chance and 1:100 chance for anything else (very rough estimate). With this game it is quite literally magnitudes harder. The scale outrageously dwarfs VT2. It’s like comparing a hurricane here to a storm on Jupiter.

Enjoy the slow incremental improvement to your stats, but stop obsessing about them and enjoy the game…

Vermintide had Necklaces, Charms and Trinkets, while Darktide only has Curioes. That should probably mean that it is easier to get good (lets just call trinkets, etc for curios for simplisitys sake) curios in Dartide!
NO, becasue:

  1. You need 3 curioes in DT and 3 curios in V2
  2. In V2 the curios are shared between all charachters
  3. In darktide you need to get 3 good curios on each and every charachter
  4. You can only reroll 1 perk out off 3 on DT curios
  5. In V2 you could reroll bothe perks
  6. It is not even possible with red items in DT making it super hard to get good curios

For my Veteran and Zealot classes, I’ve basically stuck with Bolter and Shotgun respectively. There’s not much incentive for me to play with anything else to be honest.

Now you see that? Whole RNG system is predatory gotcha mobile-games design to inflate log-ins/player retention/gameplay statistics for as long as possible. To keep you addicted to promise of god-roll where all odds/game mechanics are STACKED AGAINST YOU so you have as low chance for that as possible. So you will keep checking that store, keep checking that store, keep checking that store, keep checking that store, keep checking that store, keep checking that store, keep checking that store. Gambling RNG addition. Oh, no, someone posted perfect roll on reddit, winning lottery? keep checking that store, keep checking that store.

This whole model is predatory to ITS CORE. Just stop playing. They won’t change ANYTHING till game will almost die. It was the same with previous their games.

Fatshark is hopeless. It’s same story every single time. I with my friends stopped playing DT week ago. We won’t be dogs chasing bone on fishrod.

In the current state of the game (and probably for a while), once you reach level 30 you should just switch to another class and level them up instead to pass the time while Fatshark finishes implementing basic features several months after release. (But it’s definitely not early access still… Suuure. They 100% deserve all their negative reviews)

Doing anything else is bound to be a source of frustration, because crafting is a crucial part of the endgame and it is almost completely absent. Some Blessings can completely define a character build but there’s nothing to be done about that if you’re not lucky with your armory or consecration rolls.

Well for one item power is way worse. In VT2 your item power was like -10 to +10 of what your avg item power was and reds existed to give you max item power and rolls. Now I can get anywhere from 300 to 380 and while once you get a 380 it’s not as big of a deal you still want a good distribution.

Edit: there’s a 284 weapon in my store rn lol range is probably at least a full 100 lol 280-380

Blessings also didn’t have tiers in the VT2 either. There are also a lot more blessings and more viable ones so that’s a wash imo.

They also throw like 100x as many items at you.

Players complain that there are too many RNG in VT2, even fatshark admit it. But even though fatshark has claimed to reduce RNG, there still are far more RNG in DT than VT2.
This seems very deliberate. It seems that they want to use the endless RNG as a means to ensure the DAU.
