Yeah that’s usually what happens in real life when people speak out against the majority too, they get silenced. You also saying because gaming is a cost effective hobby entails them to not be at liberty to provide as much content is actually hilarious lol
Speaking of re-thinking the approach to community/PR…
Yeah, but don’t call it that, Cactus.
It’s an “itemization” rework with focus on RNG.
This will be important if and when it turns out to be a nothingburger and eventually someone will point out that it was never presented as a “crafting” fix, just “itemization”.
lol but are they though? they dont even talk anymore or interact even though thats their job, theyre just existing and removing comments and posts.
I’m not gonna say my memory is perfect but I do remember them coming out and saying the roadmap was scrapped. People remained vicious after that point.
Even if I’m remembering that wrong, I’m not gonna pretend people would have been civil about them not upholding the roadmap because of them saying “sowwy no woadmap uwu”.
That’s a red herring, I remember very vividly what a lot of the complaints were and it was 90% about them failing to meet a deadline. Then after FS came out about dedicated servers specifically saying they weren’t going to happen (I am almost certain this part of the roadmap being scrapped was explicitly communicated) people absolutely lost their
about “broken promises” and how PtP is unplayable, dedicated servers are a bare minimum.
That last one is extremely ironic considering that we do have dedicated servers now and the online experience is arguably worse than VT2 on average. Another comedic irony.
The message FS received was don’t make promises until they’re being pushed out the door. Again I don’t think that take is entirely wrong.
Information isn’t a promise.
“We’re working on x. We’ll continue to update as we progress.”
(At least for FS) No date is necessary; however information and updates ARE.
I guess the root of the problem is that they don’t actually know how to manage their community.
I look at DE’s team and I see an extremely strong grasp of how to interact with, inform, acquire/implement feedback and manage expectations of a community, that goes across multiple social media platforms and their own forums… Sure, that’s a single title over a course of OVER A DECADE so, they’ve had time… but It’s not like FS just started in the business. They’ve been at it for a long time.
DE?
What an amazing, evocative, picture to go with my honey 'n tea. Ah. Very delish.
Honestly that picture says a lot about Evangelion, Asuka’s character, and western society.
Digital Extremes. Creators of Warframe - one of THE most successful free to play western mmos.
I mean you bet when you sell a game with a promise of dedicated servers that people are going to get mad.
Like i do agree that some of the blowback fatshark got at one point was not warranted, but nearly 90% of it could of been dealt with better PR or actually developing the features they sold the game with.
It also did not help that the launch was absolute fiesta on many fronts. Wrong dev branches being pushed to live, half the talents and weapons not working, infinite cdr stacking etc.
The experience was arguably worse on v2 launch when you could barely even complete runs without the host crashing. Neither of the 2 games have provided good out of the gate experience on that front.
It is partly also why so many people were upset with fatsharks announcement to stop the development. In hindsight we can obviously see it would not have been the fix all button for every problem.
Aw man. Does anyone remember when Legend was broken back in release, haha.
Power rating wasn’t working either, and then it worked too well.
I think you’re misunderstanding my point here. Not defending their competency as Devs nor suggesting any negative feedback is unwarranted.
Really just chimed in to agree with Aqshy on the general Zeitgeist of that time against someone who literally wasn’t even there lol.
Also really just examine how we got to this point of non communication and how reasonable an approach it is.
And given that they in fact clearly do struggle to achieve everything they set out to do I think their current approach makes pretty good sense, I think they’re probably correct to think they can’t manage the community and their expectations without fanning flames so starving it of oxygen instead makes sense.
Yeah don’t get me wrong this was not directly aimed to jab at you since you know just as well as i do how the launch of v2 went. Your comment was just good leeway to throw my toughts out there.
idk i still do think they could be bit more proactive with their feature hyping. Like i’m not going to pretend i know what happened with v2 and dedicated servers but it was probably clear early on that the feature would probably not ship anytime soon or never. Yet it still felt like ages to get the final confirmation that it was scrapped.
The upcoming skulls event is perfect example, they are so afraid to tease anything. I wasn’t even aware the skull was a thing before i happened to read this topic about it which should be saying a lot.
Like sure i understand it if they have absolutely nothing planned for the skulls, but they probably would not be plastering their logo on it if they had 0% things to say.
And FS has failed basic comms again - dropping an ‘announcement’ that talks about an event without explaining how that event works, with no initial indication that there’s anything more than a ‘collect x skulls for crafting materials’ event and some minor cosmetics tweaks (AGAIN) being shipped.
Apparently there’s supposed to be a live stream later with more, but they don’t say that in the announcement.
Fatshark’s entire PR department needs to be retrained from the ground up, this is a basic competency issue at this point.
But it is said in the tweets and such
Been saying this since day 1. No amout of aqshy cope and justification will change that fact. The entire marketing/PR team is beyond incompetent.
You mean the tweet that tagged a 10 year old fantasy game named darktide instead of 40k Darktide?
The day I depend upon Elon Musk’s trainwreck for information about anything relevant is the day I jump out a window.
I’ll never not dead name it
Self-defenestration? Please, at least allow comrade Putin to do you the honor… he does love it so ![]()
